I like it. It's quite big, at least on this monitor, so it feels very in your face lol. But it's a much needed improvement.

The new look is fine, but I don't like my name showing up when I thumb up a post. That should've been left anonymous. If I want people to know my opinion and what I agree with I'll post it.

Not at all keen on the visual changes when viewed windowed on my desktop. As many others have said, too much wasted space; seemingly unturnoffable user icons and signatures; overly large font, etc etc.

But...
for some reason it 'makes sense' when viewed fullscreen on my old 1280px MacBook.

EDIT: Ah, signatures now 'off'. Better.

I agree it looks better on smaller screens, including mobile

This would be the time to bring the downvote back
And damm thats some ugly smileys, can't we have those from iOS?

you could just use the ones from iOS? I don't know why the forum even has its own smileys if there are these unicode thingies.

EDIT: hm… looks like they're being removed after posting. sucks. please fix that :D it's unicode after all.

It's a weird xenforo/MySQL issue. We wil have to wait for next version to support emoji

great :)

oh and one more thing. the avatars aren't retina ready.

← check out the avatars, they have visible compression artifacts and are low resolution. The circle around them is high-resolution, though. (i'm on a 13" retina mbp, 10.10.3)

Crap, I can't hide avatars anymore? This sucks! Gah. I don't mind the new design but I like to have the pages all text, no images and I can't find a place to turn those off anymore. The giant avatars are not only distracting, but they mean you can't view nearly as many posts on one page, as most posts are only a line or two but now require much more vertical space because of the avatar.
Hoping this option will be back (along with the ability to hide all images in threads).

Unfortunately even without the avatars there's a ton of vertical space for no reason. Hopefully an update will reduce that as well as letting us turn off avatars and signatures.

You could add this to your own browser's stylesheet to hide the avatars:

Code:
#XenForo .messageUserBlock div.avatarHolder { display:none }

Hiding images in posts gets a little more tricky unless you want to nuke everything like smilies, etc. but this would work:

Code:
#XenForo .messageUserBlock div.avatarHolder,  #XenForo div.messageInfo.primaryContent img { display:none; }

Overall nice. On an iPad mini these elements really show some parts are cramped:

thread list
- including "Replies" and "Views" in each row
- too much space for last message by, message title column pretty narrow
- font size seems too large

message view
- avatars, disregarding the size (who knows), the column width has too much white space, message column narrow.

A little too much white space; a little too little contrast.

I would also like to be able to downvote posts so that I can punish the morons who post nothing but snappy safari jokes.

All of a sudden the background seems to have gotten even brighter and the text duller, hope this is just a test.

Using a downvote system as a means of revenge is one of the reasons downvote numbers hold little value.

Reporting pointless things like that is a much better option so that they can actually be dealt with rather than just having downvoting which really doesn't mean anything as far as effecting some change.
