I get it. Redesigns scare me more than anything, since there's an emotional look/feel to it that can easily alienate people. That's why we ended up on the same design for 14 years.
Spending some time on it will help. We are making tweaks to make the transition easier. I think the notification system alone makes the experience much more compelling.
We're documenting changes here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macrumors-theme-change-log.1889170/
A few features are coming back over time. Right now we are still putting out fires.
Can we get notified when this is done please? We will see about respecting the desktop cookie. I think it's doable.
Can we get notified when this is done please?
I've kinda got used to coming here, so would like to come back when the forums are usable again.
And regardless of cookies, how about respecting the "request desktop site"?
Apologies if this has been further discussed; not exactly easy to parse...
At the top right of the page you'll find your username in the main menu bar. Tap your username and then tap Alert Preferences from the resulting popup. Or you can use a link such as the one below for quick access:

It was easier seeing user cp by itself at the top of the page, with all subscribed threads listed.
I just won't be posting here much anymore until they simplify it
Welcome please set up your profile with an avator message pop up all the time. Why? I dismissed it cause I don't want to. Thanks.
I was away on a trip for a while and then logged in when I got back and was taken aback and I did.not.like.it. Because we are creatures of habit. But I got used to it, began to explore and the functionality is much better once you figure out where things are newly located.
The front page of the forums section though, as others have mentioned, has way too much spacing. Just give us a list. Don't need giant headers and boxes here. What I really like is the new mobile layout. So much better.
The notifications system..I'm on the fence about. I liked how on the old version, you were notified if you were mentioned in a thread but not if someone was just adding to a watched thread in general. I liked going to "user CP" to see if there were new posts to watched thread but I don't need that red number by the flag screaming at me. Maybe I just haven't figured out where to turn this option off. (If you know it, please tell me)
Overall, I think this is a big improvement but hoping the team makes some updates based on some of the realistic feedback here.
Thanks for the perspective
You can fine tune the notifications here: https://forums.macrumors.com/account/alert-preferences
I am liking this ok. Glad to see the forum responding to user feedback.
what would make the bottom of page arrow more useful to me is if it would direct to the last post/navigation buttons rather than the actual bottom of the page. The navigation buttons or this comment window are usually where I am headed when I want those arrows.
Also, I usually like to preview my posts. I may stop doing it with the added clicks required.
Q: is there a way to display more posts per page? You could in the previous version of the site.
I find that I have to tap more than one for it to register. I'll try to keep an eye on it and see if I can pin down a pattern as far as page content, though that may prove futile.Anyone else running into an issue with "tap at the top to scroll to the top of the page" feature of iOS not working when looking at various threads? I've started coming across it more and more recently for some reason. Mostly happens within threads and not other places (and even within threads not always).
