Is there any way to bring back the count of users in a forum?

It was cool to see the amount of users in a specific forum during a product's launch period.

I removed some of the extraneous user info next to your name/avatar. It's still available if you click on someone's name. Figured it would help reduce clutter and height sprawl.

Is there a setting to bring the info under the avatars back? I found it convenient.

Also, is it just me, or do the circles look even uglier with the info gone? The squares seem to look nicer, so I'm not complaining there.

I feel like there's too many things trying to get my attention in posts, and getting in the way of comments. I think the report, thumbs up, quote, and reply buttons are too prominent. They are very large especially with having borders. The post number is very large for how infrequently a person needs to find that.

fully agree. especially the REPORT (and EDIT) buttons are way too prominent, and in the wrong place.
i really do not see a reason to have them on the left, in the flow of the posts, rather than on the right together with the other buttons.
REPORT especially should be just an icon next to the post number.

ideally i would arrange them vertically on the right, so you don't add additional extra space between posts, with a more compact result

something like this would go a looong way to improve the look.
the names of the likes would appear on mouseover or clicking

p.s.: i didn't put it into the drawing, but the EDIT button would also be in the same spot, next or above the REPLY button

Really good idea. That would really help to make comments flow from one to another. Now there feels to be too much stuff between comments and breaks the flow.

Some concerns - The footer seems to have older Touch Arcade links, from Dec. 2014, and there are 3 broken images underneath the Share This Page options.

Other than that, it look great. Clean and well thought out with the end users in mind.

Great job on the redesign!

I found something that I feel is worth looking into. I typically view the New Posts list on my iPad Air 2 and long-press a thread title to open it in a new tab. Tapping a thread title is supposed to take me to the first unread post. However, at times I find that I'm taken to the first post of a thread in which I've already made a post - the fact that I've already made a post in that thread is evidence that I've read past the OP at some point. Is my habit of long-pressing a thread to open in a new tab interfering with being taken to the first unread post?

Edit: ok, I just tried this again. This time I opened the New Posts list and tapped the title of a thread I have never entered.. and I was taken to post #7.

The first unread functionality seems to be hit and miss.

Yea! The navigation buttons are back on the bottom of the page! That's the only thing that I couldn't deal with. Thanks.

I wouldn't call the new forum worse, but it's different, and we need to adjust to the new layout. It's actually funny how we get used to button shapes, menus and stuff... Change one thing and it's chaos ;)

I'll classify them as worse. It's like the Google Maps change more and more as I use the new forums. The old forums loaded quickly, the new takes 4-5 times longer for me to load and has locked up and gone unresponsive 3 times while loading (I am on an old Mac so maybe the new ones handle this change better). Functional things are gone and other stuff that's not needed have been added.
I also see I'm getting individual email notifications now instead of a daily notification log like the old forums used to have. I hope there's a setting added to give us this daily notification option back. I want a daily log not getting notified all day. I went into setting to search for something there but like the forums the profiles are slower to load as well and I didn't find anything to change this.
Google Maps became less functional so I have gone to alternatives instead for maps. I finally did a JB when iOS 7/8 and did as many tweaks as I could when Yosemite all became Ive'd and terrible. I can't really do that for the forums but with the new layout I'll definitely not be visiting the forums as often.

Thank you! I forgot about this. This is another of my issues with the new forum look. With the old forum email notifications there was a link to view from the new posts and a second link to view from the beginning of the thread. The new notifications seem to just drop you on page 1 with no option to view the newest posts.
Normally this is no big deal, click last page or next to last or whatever to get to the new posts but as I've said it now takes much longer for me to get the pages to load (after they go unresponsive a few times). So this adds time on. Is it a lot? No, but still very annoying when trying to take a few seconds to check the new responses.

Wow. I think I like this.

One thing, I'm not much of a fan to see the timestamp in blue separated by a pretty thick green line. I think it needlessly breaks it up.

Not sure if you can change it at all, but if you can thin that out or move the timestamp below the post count, it would look better IMO.

Just to add, if this can be done, make the date stamp the same color as the bar.

Is there an overriding setting which forces signatures to be displayed in a grey?

These should be links. See:

Ok, now that I got some more alerts what I see is that I get the links in the "drop down" box, but when I click on alerts to get the list (like on the old site) where it's more readable and I don't have to hover the pointer or keep going back to the drop box one at a time, it shows the full list on a page, BUT on that alert page there are no links like in the drop down.

Ok, so after several hours of configuration and use I have only 1 suggestion. I'm in agreement with previous post for an increase in contrast. Especially in the light grey fonts in signatures. Not a great deal, but perhaps some Mid-Contrast increase. Otherwise I'm still surprised I like it so much. :apple:

Try hovering, the links are not well colored at the moment.
