IMHO this UI change is not a step forward. I have no idea why we need screen real estate taken up by icons that end up taking more more cursor movement and clicks to get to the same forums.
Agreed. I'm leaning towards not adding a personal icon/avatar simply out of consideration for others. There's way too much whitespace in here now.

ok, after playing around a bit this morning, here are some my initial critiques, some are correlated so they might seem redundant critiques, but i just want to emphasize different aspects...

13. forum menu page is a chaotic. very hard to find threads.
:D

Agreed. Number 13 is one of my biggest hurdles.

Isn't it the line that goes: "Forums > Mac Community > Site and Forum Feedback"? It shows you where you are in the hierarchy and helps you navigate back up it. I was missing that feature. Glad to see it's back.
Ahh, okay. I hadn't noticed that it was missing at first. I, too, like having that there at the bottom.

The old MacRumors ForumSpy was my ONLY safari bookmark into this site - and now it doesn't work. :(

I'm sorely missing it. I always landed there first - just to see what people were talking about RIGHT NOW. Get the moment's hot gossip and rumors at a glance. Surely that's a primary goal of a site called "MacRumors", yes?

The current "New Posts" link at the top is a poor substitute. It's impossible to quickly glean the site's Zeitgeist or even just watch the waves of conversation ebbing and flowing.

@arn mentioned in the other thread and the beginning of this one that he is working on the Spy. It's in testing with the staff and developers right now.

That thumbs up button is the like button, you just "liked" that post by clicking that button. The number of likes, for posts that have them, is located at the bottom left of the the post content under the Report button.

Thank you, I see it now.

It doesn't seem when you reply or visit an unread page that its forwarding you to the relevant post, just to the top of the page..

A refreshing change. Some things that don't sit so well with me:

1. It's much harder to quickly identify how many people have up-voted posts. I use this information as a quick way to decide which posts to read in long threads.

2. Being able to see who up-voted posts removes the anonymity and mystery of up-votes.

3. I can't find a setting to increase the number of posts per page. 25 is too few. Is there a setting?

4. The item I will remember immediately after clicking 'Post Reply'.

This is a great change.

Give the admins a few days to tweak stuff ...

Stop complaining!

We've finally launched our new theme and forum change!

Most of the data should have migrated over. If you notice any problems. Please let me know. This thread should be for bugs and issues related to the new theme. Or general feedback.

If you have tips or tricks that you want to share with other users, please post in Xenforo Tips and Tricks thread.

- Please update your avatar (everyone gets an avatar)
- Spy is disabled for the moment
- Some permissions are still rebuilding
- Some other indexes are also rebuilding

arn

Please change it back. It is too confusing. You can't easily find anything you're looking for anymore. Why did you change the design? The old one was perfect. Change just for change sake it always wrong.

Interesting. This morning the "minutiae" I mentioned have vanished -- temporarily, I'm sure -- and the whole forum has that more balanced look I was talking about. I like it.

BTW, are photo albums gone? And I may be dense, but I have yet to find the User Control Panel several people have talked about. Where is it?

Edit: Just went back a page and saw that Arn has made the join date, etc., optionally visible by clicking on a person's avatar. Nice solution, Arn! Thanks!

And I forgot to mention I took a look at the forum on my iPhone last night, and it looks really good on there. Responsive design rocks.

What's up with embedded links? It's not giving me any indication that I've successfully inserted one, just regular text, until I actually hit the Post button.

EDIT:
That one worked, but I can't tell that it worked until I click Post.
Is there at least a preview button hidden somewhere that I can click to see if the links have gone in correctly, before posting?

EDIT 2: Ah, preview shows up under "more options". Still, it should be easier to tell if you've successfully created a hyperlink.

I thought I remember a blurb about being unable to edit the title of a thread you created. I experienced this and am wondering if that capability Will be added in the future? Thanks!
