Yeah, perhaps a button or a link that would at least just quickly take you to the reply section at the bottom?
I feel that this would be beneficial and would like to offer a possible solution. How difficult would it be to add a button next to the "Watch thread" button at the top of the page, label the new button "Quick reply" and have that button take you directly to the reply area at the bottom of the page? This seems like it would be a simple solution.

Likeable focused posts versus mixed-subject posts breaking from the tradition of mixing and/or merging

An example:

… I think the problem appears exaggerated simply because …

Whilst I like that part, and everything that followed in that post, I can not like the post because it's a mixture of subjects.

From the tips and tricks area, a hint:

Posts that are both focused (single-subject) and on-topic are more immediately likeable.

I just noticed that the flag next to my username had the number 4. So I tapped it to find that I've won some trophies. It seems the trophies feature has now caught up with my post count. I was wondering when that would happen.

… Right now it doesn't look too bright here, but it's day time. Combined with the "flat" look and I think the site was a bit of a shock at first (kind of like Yosemite).

In the absence of daylight

http://ur1.ca/mqf2d reflects (and @Audentio and others may be pleased to note):

… It was a ghastly thing to awake to – Apple's operating system (not the visual appearance of the forum). …

Postscript

Some confusion around the post from which that quote was taken. http://ur1.ca/mwpki for a reworded post.

Draft Saved- When drafting a post, I've notice the little "draft saved" message which appears periodically as I type in the lower right of the reply box. I've seen this feature in other forums, but would like to know for MacRumors, how do you make use of that? And there is need for this for the iPad.

On my iPad, when I jump to another Safari tab and then back while in the middle of making a forum post, sometime in its wisdom, my iPad decides to erase my partially completed post. Where do I find the "restore draft" button? I've not noticed this issue on my Mac's browser.
Thanks!

It's useful if you start a post and get interrupted and need to leave the computer. You can come back later and the post will be saved in the posting box where you can finish your post and submit it.

If the draft has been saved and you later decide you don't want to post the message you can delete the draft by clicking on the little "disk" icon in the tool bar and "delete draft".

And it was right in front of me... Thanks!

Also, I'm liking the smaller avatars on the thread index page. Now you just have to allow 100 threads listed on the thread index page instead of 25 and 100 posts on an individual page. . :):)

Here is an iPad issue I just noticed: while posting, using the box at the bottom of the page, if I tap a format button (e.g., I want italics), thereafter, the red top/bottom nav-arrow floater appears on the right as I type. Might not be a big deal but for the fact that it overlays text in the right side of the box.

Should we have a separate bug thread?

I LOVE IT

but i agree it just needs a bit of clean-ness
it can get confusing and too much sometimes.

You'll find the Bug Section in the first post of this wiki thread.

GREAT idea!

Cheers

I've given the new look 5 days and I think it's fine. Any big transition is going to be polarizing for some, but I don't think it should be too hard to adjust to. I see refinements happening already and have a suggestion that I bet others have asked for as well. Can we get the search bar for Marketplace back? Or an option to refine searches to just certain categories?

Advanced search is a bit hidden. Working on that
