Hi @arn I received these two notifications todays:

Checked the link:

BUT!:

I really like to receive trophies, but the 1st post don't seem right.

Cheers

BTW! I really appreciate your & team's very quick response to all tweaks mentioned in this thread to make MR even better then it already is!!!
Seems appropriate--you've made at least one post already (meaning your 1st post has happened already) so you got the trophy points for having that done basically.

Hi @arn

Perhaps already asked in this 28 page thread

I would really like a changeable - vertical and horizontal - editor window size, so I can adjust it to my screens resolution. Now we have to scroll to much to write and (perhaps) edit a post.

I'd like a link to go to the most recent post, which given the amount of fluff in the footer is often somewhere far from the bottom and top of the page.

PS: I only use the forum on my iPhone.

From which view are you talking about?

From the list of threads in a forum? Or when you are on a page like this one (thread itself)

Of all the new features, the one I am most impressed by is the convienence of the Alert System, especially when using an iPad. I'm also liking identifying those who "like" my posts because it gives me a better understanding of which forum members I am more simpatico with as compared to anonymous likes. And when you offer a "like" it gives more info to other members about who you are. :D

I'm seeing some inconsistencies in the list of posts generated from the "New Posts" link in the header. Sometimes, the list is striped white/light blue backgrounds, other times, it's all white backgrounds. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I've noticed that as well and I think that the zebra striping isn't being applied to posts that are set as stickied.

Ambiguous icons (cogs) and hidden titles of menus

… the icon is easy to miss …

Ooooh, ya that's not easy to find.

An earlier topic:
– resolved and closed. Points of concern, from the closing post:

… the title of a menu is:
  • hidden by default
  • revealed only after the user points at one of the ambiguous actions menu icons
– there's at least one other ambiguous cog in the redesign …

Sorry if this has been said already but please let us delete our own posts and put automatic multiple replies consolidation back in.

That's not why we don't allow most users to do it though. @laurim - the problem is it gets very confusing if people start deleting their messages in stream, after people have replied to it.

At least if you empty it out, then later readers know that there was something said and then removed. Otherwise it gets very confusing. You could easily imagine someone causing trouble by posting some controversial thing, waiting for 10 replies, then deleting it entirely.

I understand it, in the context that you just described. But why not allow us to delete our own post within a fixed timeframe (5 minutes? 1 minute?) or until someone responds to that post. I am on several other forums and we are allowed to delete our own posts. It does not create the problems that you described above.

I completely agree. That's why the few times I've needed to delete posts, I try to make sure they haven't been quoted or replied to.

But when I've emptied a post in the past, I got an admonishing note from admin. telling me not to and I was supposed to report myself and wait for an admin to delete it. I just want to manage my own posts and avoid getting spanked by admins. I don't think this forum needs "never mind" or blank posts taking up space. And I'm ok with some troll posting something stupid, getting called out on it and then deleting the stupid thing they wrote before other people are also later annoyed by it. It might actually lighten your workload ;)

This is one reason why proper forum netiquette, as I learned it, is to quote the post to which you are replying. Not only does it give a point of reference and context to the replier's post, but it also preserves the original post "for the record".

I get what you are saying. I don't feel the need to delete my posts very often but if I say something stupid, not necessarily bad spirited but something that's factually wrong and I'm embarrassed to leave it out there but there's no good edit to replace it with, I just want to delete it as soon as I realize it's stupid, not wait for an admin to get my request and do it but five people have already quoted me and told me I'm stupid. Now, I better not get a note from an admin telling me not to post one/two word posts when I want to get rid of an embarrassing post with "never mind" ;)

Perhaps it's an incentive to think before you write.

I always think before I write but sometimes you find out new/better facts later. Or one says something tongue in cheek but upon reflection, thinks that maybe it could be misunderstood. Is it really that unreasonable to have some ability to quickly take one's foot out of one's mouth before a hundred people see it other than creating a blank post which also tells people you said something you regret but who knows what it was and how bad it was? The only real way to ensure perfect civility is to force everyone to post under a verified REAL name, which is actually how I think all forums should be. Most nasty people are free to be nasty because of anonymity. I post in some forums that use my real name and I know it makes me think a little longer about what I'm putting out there...

One thing has become clear. The two topics that are of greatest interest to me at this time –
2015-06-04 22-35-37 screenshot.png
– remain unread (by me) because the redesign has not, yet, made long and/or complex topics attractive (to me).

Perceived barriers to reading

Enlarged avatars. Simply, they're too much; and there's not yet a user preference to suppress them.

Excessive pagination. For topics such as this, breaking every twenty-five posts is too disruptive to trains of thought. https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21395361/ is reassuring: "… looking into adding these features back shortly …".

Not compatible with Reader (Safari). I wish for that :) but I don't expect it. Unless I'm missing something, XenForo Community search results (for Reader in titles of topics) include nothing relevant.
