Well, posted my first run... boy am I out of shape! Did ~1.5mi in 20min :( alternating running and walking for 5 min spurts. Uploaded the data the system seems pretty slick, although I wish it was an offline component of iTunes. Set all my goals, so we'll see how things go!

Great start! Keep it up!

I took a look at how the nike+ stores run data on the nano.
It turns out to be a bunch of XML files. Short story is that it seems like
it would be fairly easy to create software that could provide many more
capabilities than the nike site does. In fact, I'd be surprised if such software
doesn't already exist.

Ah, very cool. If you can give me the start of where the files are stored I can start in on something. (I'm a web and db developer, so it'll be another online application, but at least another option, and a basis for an offline one down the road).

Thanks for the encouragement, btw! :D

Ah, very cool. If you can give me the start of where the files are stored I can start in on something.

On my Mac, I can find the pertinent files in two directories:

/volumes/t1937r0's nano/iPod_Control/Device/Trainer/Workouts/Empeds/4H635BD5VSX/latest

and

/volumes/t1937r0's nano/iPod_Control/Device/Trainer/Workouts/Empeds/4H635BD5VSX/synched

The "t1937r0's nano" part is obviously my nano's name.
The 4H635BD5VSX part seems to be some type of unique identifier for the
nike+ sensor.

Hope that helps...

well I have sort of fell off, but i will be back. Looks like the competition at the top will be fierce.

Well, I broke down and bought a pair of the Nike+ shoes. I found a pair on sale for $74. The velcro setup worked well, but I was just worried about the sensor falling off.
Does anybody else have the nike+ shoes or are you all using a different set up?

Don't have the nike shoes, but for $74 might consider, where did you find them? I use the marware-shoe-sensor-holder-thing right now. Works pretty good.

I am looking into getting my wife a nano for Christmas so that we can both start getting back into shape after our baby is born. If we both have our own sensor can we both use the same nano? I would assume that it would work. Since we won't be able to run/walk together for awhile since we live in Michigan and we can't take our little ones out in the cold I assume we could get by just sharing a nano until spring if as long as we have our own sensors.

I'm late to this challenge, so will probably try and jump into the next one. I have to say, I'm loving the iPod kit quite a bit as it allows me to wander off my tried and true paths (read: ones for which I know the distance) and get some new scenery!

Congrats to everyone for getting so many miles in - this is great stuff!

So down to the last few days. Should be a good push towards the end, I am rather looking forward to it.

I signed up to run in a 10k on thanksgiving day, best of all is my father will be doing the run with me. I've ran two practice 10k's this week, hope to run the real race in under 50 mins.

Good luck with the race, Koodauw! It's always fun to run with family, and getting in under 50 mins would be a very respectable time.
