I'm not referring to the "white" banners Macworld has hanging around ok?

Update: There are covered white covered banners throughout the hall which should have the new announcements hidden behind them.

The one by Apple is being covered.

Very surprised nobody has mentioned the "covered banners" are white instead of black. Doesn't Apple use black cloth to cover up stuff ? Like at the Apple booth ?

So what are the covered white banners? Who's are they ? Macworld's or Apples's ?. If Apple's , why are they white ?

This whole "conversion to aluminum bodies" thing was a joke. Apple's going back to white plastic cases... starting with the new Mac Mini! Yes, the Mac Mini goes from mainly aluminum/partially plastic to completely plastic! Pinstriped plastic! Like the old plastic Cinema Displays!

Haha... does he still do this? :D How does he get away with it?
And how does he get anywhere without Cupertino law enforcement pulling him over all the time? They must all be :apple: fans... :)

Sigh. I'm going to miss the traditional paparazzi shot of Steve's license plate-less Merecedes outside Moscone.

He would walk up on the stage (Actual event will become more emotional), then announce the... "But there's one more thing..." After he's explained that he'll need more time with his family, still claiming he's not sick, he'll say... today I'd like to introduce to you... The brand new Apple Invention, we've worked on this for the past 10 years, and we think we pretty much nailed it. Say hello to me! People will be looking confused at each other, murmuring, making faces... but then Steve will put up the first slide... Today the company will be taken over by iSteve, a revolutionary Nexus-6 android, capable of all the funnest features of the iPhone, including Bluetooth transfers of your songs, I'll sing them. The battery life is going to last between 1 to 2 months, all you need to do is plug in the power cord right here... and as he's about to demonstrate people in shock and awe start to take picture of iSteve pulling down his pants... then start to clap uncontrollably.

Cost? Not available for the first 5 years, but when the newer exoskeleton will be produced, you'll be able to order yours as your favorite person, ranging from the rights from Tricia Helfner from Battlestar Galactica to Jean Claude Van Damnit.

Powered by the future of chips... Intel and Atari.

;)

A day, sure to be remembered...

PS. On a serious note... I too wish for a MacMini... The first CoreDuo I had was fantastic... I hope this will become an amazing little machine...

:apple:Thats crazy everyone knows there would be a Microsoft Version and they would declare war. In the end isteves would win but no humans would be left to please!:apple:

if there is a "one more thing" will it be during the tuesday apple keynote i assume? or have they done it in the past where a week later there is an apple separate press conference?

i bought an iphone i received last week (forgot about macworld b/c i'm an idiot) and am waiting until tuesday to open/activate it just in case.

I'm just going to sit this one out MSF07, iPod event, and the Spot light on notebooks were all suck fests so this will be no different. I no longer expect much from Apple all I want is an updated mini. :yawns: :apple:

:apple:ITS ALREADY PLASTIC IVE SEEN IT IN PERSON! Apple will stay with Aluminum for a few years if they start switching back now the whole idea/company will look very bad.:apple: IF there is an iPhone nano it will probley be Aluminum and edge only. I hope there is one!:apple:

My prediction:

First 10 minutes about success of App Store. Intros for some exclusive new games from LucasArts or another big developer. Apple positioning iPod Touch as best handheld gaming entertainment device.

Next up: Snow Leopard. Pretty much everything we need to know about the next OS. Mobile Me updates. "Cloud" versions of iLife Apps.

MacBook Pro 17" update. Expected updates. Possible surprise update (quad core? dual HD bays?). There will be something to set it apart.

New Cinema Displays. All LED based. All glossy.

Mac mini. New name (Mac Air?). Will resemble a stout flying saucer. Mini DisplayPort. Updated graphics. Quad core option. Base price drops back to $499. People will be disappointed that its still not exactly what they wanted.

One Last Thing. Steve Jobs comes out on stage for final good bye. Jokes about health. "Through the Years" MacWorld retrospective on big screen. Steve pulls out 7" iPod Touch from his back pocket and says "Sike!"

Oh and yes, the white banners ARE from apple...

In case everyone forgot... SNOW Leopard will have a few moments in the spot light that day... ;) And yes... snow is the new White taking over the black. ;)

For a little while though...

:)

Here's to hoping that Apple releases a 24" LED DVI monitor for us old folks...I've been waiting for ages it seems for a good 24" monitor.

Anyone know what day the Keynote is on?

I think everyone has it wrong about the Apple banners...

... They aren't covered up in a white sheet, they are merely folded up in half so that the bottom of the banners are tied to the top of the banners so all they have to do is let loose a couple riggings and the banners will unveil themselves.

That TYVEK material that banners are printed on are pretty opaque so it would make sense.

Okay, i'm a little lost so forgive me for being slow.

But... why does everybody think they're going to announce an 'iphone nano'?

Personally I think it would be retarded if they come out with something like that. Especially when the prices of iphones are already cheap and will probably be cheaper soon. Not only that, but who wants a watered down iphone?

A netbook? well why not just lower the prices of the mb airs and call it a day. Seems like lately apple just doesn't care about it's consumers at all. Replacing Matte screens with glossy crap and removing firewire from the mb's. It's just not a good look. So i'm hoping for something really major from apple this year and not some BS like a 'iphone nano' that nobody really needs or wants.

There are tons of things apple should be working on and this is not one of them. How about lowering all these high ass prices. In this screwed up economy I think that would be good. How about updating the Mac Pro's or coming with a Mid-Tower computer. How about the things that apple consumers and power users actually ask for?

another things is that is that people are over analyzing this "even the small talk will be big thing". It probably means that there are so many big things coming that even the small things will be a big deal.

While the banners are not particularly revealing, Apple's booth area is shrouded in black cloth as is typical prior to the event. One sign promises that "even the small talk will be big":

This, however, appears to be an IDG-sponsored banner rather than an official teaser from Apple and reflects Macworld's website promotion that "small talk is the biggest talk we do". There do not appear to be any Apple teasers like last year's "There's Something in the Air" banner.

Could this have something to do with a Squeak implementation? Nah...

hmm, i didn't think of this...good catch! :D

regarding the other non apple posters, i kinda have a feeling that apple has sort of tipped off some people regarding their updates. I think they're going for a theme here.

yeah i'm sure they'll get right on that. you do realize apple is a private for-profit company right?
