Sigh

OK, I need an explanation one last time in BIG PICTURE words in one post.

This IRC java chat isnt working for me.

So --how do I watch the keynote and also chat with you guys?

The front page updates - www.macrumors.com - don't need java right? it will just refresh automatically without me doing anything?

Wait until Apple puts it on their website tomorrow. Apple sucks for not doing a webcast. plain and simple. :(

the way I see it, www.macrumors.com will redirect to the update page when it starts and i don' t think i need java or anything

Yes, the front page will update with the latest news as the keynote progresses.

As far as chatting, you would need an IRC client, unless the forums stay up.

I believe yours is the most likely I've read so far. ;)

My prediction:
- no new hardware. 6 months early with Intel - c'mon people? When has Apple ever been early with hardware?
- Keynote will be about iLife '06, more iTMS TV/Movie stuff, and a few demos of Intel apps
- everyone here will be up in arms claiming that Apple promised them iBooks and MMMCs (Mac Mini Media Centres)

A boring prediction, yes. I hope I'm wrong.

Yes that's true. But you can't see a video feed until then.

no java required.

it will update in javascript and if you don't have javascript, it will update with a refresh.

the time approaches. People who are impatient can watch a blank screen at http://www.macrumorslive.com

It's quite fun to keep an eye on the currently active user numbers, see if we reach a new record (Most users ever online was 3,367, 10-12-2005) :p There's currently over 2,000 guests on line

What metric is that based on? How long after the last click are users/guests logged out?

It's asking too much of Apple to be as cool as Microsoft showing the CES keynote as a live webcast, and actually do the same for the MWSF. Everything Apple does is so secretive, even while they're showing it to the public. Pisses me off.

The killer is that they did it a couple of years ago, so we all know its technically feasible... Apple just decided they didnt want to expend the effort...

If you have a fairly recent phone you should be able to download the Java based Opera Mini, this allows you to view traditional web pages on a WAP phone.

You then need to point your wap browser on your mobile to http://mini.opera.com. This will then download the Java based app to your phone. I've tried it on my Motorola PEBL and it works pretty well.

You can find out more info at http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!! You've made my mac-day :)

I know you're a MR god, but are you sure? I don't see anything on that page (the square gray java box that people are describing). I do have Javascript, but not Java enabled on my web browser.
