Some people need to rethink what 'transcript' means. Schedule of events, ok. But an outline of his presentation, or the transcript itself, would be much more detailed. These two are nothing more than fanboi wishlists.

Who really turns of their computers anymore? And I, normally make it to the login window on a cold boot in 5 to 10 seconds. what is the point of being able to boot into frontrow?

agree... don't know if anyone provides transcripts on keynotes anymore since Apple will post the presentation of the keynote that evening. Even the PR from apple doesn't release it to the media so good luck on that request.

Wow, what a bunch of fake crap. Especially the Mac Nano... I don't even like the way that sounds. Mac mini sounds so much better... and the only thing I see up there that would be possible is the Mac Pro, MacBook Pro's, and possibly the Ultra-Thin MacBook Pro. Otherwise, I don't see anything else happening.

I would love Front Row 3.0. The greatest feature that could be added is iTunes Store support right through Front Row. Also, having a TV Tuner feature would be pretty awesome as well. However, me think that Apple isn't gonna integrate the two anytime soon :/

I agree the $400 dollar Blu-Ray drive sounds like its too much. You can get a Playstation 3 with an 80 gig hard drive, a free game and Blu-ray (one of Sony's best) for $499 and $399 with a smaller hard drive.

a burner. a blu-ray burner. why is everyone having trouble getting this?

....the only thing I see up there that would be possible is the Mac Pro....

This update better be amazing to justify the wait. I can't see why they would have put off a simple processor update announcement for SO long if that's all it is... if they were saving it for Macworld, it must be something more significant like a product redesign. It would be nice to start fresh after a very non-Mac-centric 2007 with a focus on the core pro Mac line in 2008 - but a boy can dream, right?

Ok. Quite honestly... i don't believe in any of this so i'll wait and see. However, dreaming's great and those two transcripts totally made me dream!!!

-iPod Touch to control :apple:TV
-Countries announcement for iPhone (Canada GO!)
-Mac Nano sounds great
-Mac Pro gets a redesigned! And comes standard with 2gb ram, 512mb graphic card
-Apple display at a affordable price!!
-MacTouch from the second transcript... 2 touch-screens and everything... it is such a dream!!!

Can't wait 'till January 15th

I bought my macbook pro just recently and I can return it up until jan 8. Should I take it back and wait to see what happens at macworld.

If I were you, and can deal without a computer for a couple of weeks, I would.

Oh and remember to get the free HP printer deal when you buy any new Mac. RRP of 59.95 and they sell in Curry's for about £44.95 so ebay gives you £30 or so off your new mac all in all!

:)

MacPro Update:

Complete re-design.

The new MacPro features backpack straps on one side, and an astronaut helmet. Once strapping the MacPro onto one's back and putting the fully functioning NASA helmet on (and with a functioning network card for wireless capability), a User can live for 1 full year without food or water.

They affectionately call it the iBubble.

Michael Jackson comes onto stage, saying that he's been wearing it for the past 3 months, and it is working "very well."

I think that my recovered keynote has just as much potential!!! Don't you???

omg i peed my pants before the 15th!

So the iMAC stays ugly and useless?

I was waiting for the part in the script where:

Steve, suddenly jumps out of a large BOX containing the new iMac with matte monitor and a team of highly professional staff for APPLE AUSTRALIA!

Guys, I've never in my life been screwed around so badly since dealing with Apple Australia.

I've spent the last three days actually researching and contemplating a windows product. I'm completely clueless with windows because I've never owned a non-Mac before, but after the way I have been treated by Apple Australia I seriously don't know if I can go through with another Mac disappointment.

Sad Mac user :?(

Yeah, I think we are going to need to see some major desperation by the HD/Bluray camps before the prices drop to level where its only a $100 upgrade to get get a HD/BR rather than a superdrive

Please, its a Mac or a mac, NOT a MAC.

We will, but the main hold up is the lack of a real market for it. Most people don't want to pay that much for Blu-Ray or HD/DVD and the ones that know about the technology are already adopting online distribution methods. BR and HD are great techs, but they are really overrated. No one in the professional field has adopted either format, and the price of the players have been high for some time and may not be cut in half for another year and a half or so.

And Apple has to put HDMI on a Mac before they give us BR. This could happen on the 15th, but I am not holding my breath.

I agree HDMI is coming. I imagine Steve has wanted it for a while because its such a neater technology, smaller and it carried audio. Only problem is for larger screens beyond 1080p - not sure how HDMI would handle that. So hopefully we will get both.

I was under the impression that HDMI carried the exact same signals as DVI-D? I didn't realize it was limited to 1080p.

EDIT: Just saw this on Wikipedia:

Video signal 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 1440p, etc. The standard Type A HDMI connector has 19 pins, with bandwidth to support all SDTV, EDTV and HDTV modes and more. The plug outside dimensions are 13.9 mm wide by 4.45 mm high. Type A is electrically compatible with single-link DVI-D.
A higher resolution version called Type B is defined in HDMI 1.0. Type B has 29 pins (21.2 mm wide), allowing it to carry an expanded video channel for use with very high-resolution future displays, such as WQSXGA (3200x2048). Type B is electrically compatible with dual-link DVI-D, but is not in general use.

Actually HDMI 1.3 finally jumps that to 2560x1600 so its entirely feasible it will work fine if they use the latest stuff.

Awesome way to start a keynote! Make sure and tell everyone that nothing is going to be as good as in the past!

These are pretty weak looking.

True, when I saw that, my first reaction was '********' - Steve Jobs doesn't have a humble bone in his body. We're talking about a guy who could spin the hindenburg disaster into an example of how air ships have the best safety record.

If anything it'll be something pretty basic, Mac Pro updates, MacBook Pro update, updated AppleTV and talking up renting movies and streaming them onto the appletv - maybe even creating a set top box with an ADSL modem inside to download movies direct from iTunes with some sort of telecom/itunes link up. Turn telephone lines into carriers for ondemand television.

After reading all of the posts, consensus seems to be refreshed Mac Pro and a touch screen portable. I vote for a more robust Apple TV. As to the other things, probably a number of updates, but nothing really jumps out, so is the one more thing the touch screen portable?

Probably. Because everyone plus dog is expecting the updated macs and ultra thin macbooks. A touchscreen portable would be sonsidered the "one more thing" surprise. Well, not for us anyway. :D

An abbreviated keynote, first section.

Steve enters from backstage and welcomes the audience, saying that he has some exciting things today for everyone but first he wants to go over numbers. Focusing on Mac sales and highest growth rate in the industry, before moving into the adoption rates for iPhone and Leopard.

Steve moves to center stage and starts his presentation about 1984, the year that the computing industry changed. The Apple logo on the screen behind him fades to the classic logo and pictures of the original Macintosh transition across the screens.

Steve: In 1984 the computer industry changed, the status quo was no longer acceptable and the future was born...the Macintosh. Today we will once again change the industry...ladies and gentlemen it is with no small amount of pride I present to you...the new Macintosh.

The screens behind him fade to black and rising from the stage in front of Steve appears the new Macintosh. A visual melding of the Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and the new iMac presenting a form factor of approximately 50% of the Mac Pro's height, the Mac Mini's width and length, made of anodized aluminum with a black glass front housing a vertical slot load optical drive, in the center of the black glass a glowing white Apple logo appears and the familiar startup chime sounds.

The new Macintosh will come in two standard configurations, 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz with a standard 2GB of memory and SuperDrive, however featuring a single PCI-E graphics slot and accommodation for two, vertically mounted, hard drives with sizes of up to 1TB each.

Steve announces that the new Macintosh is on sale today and shipping in february...
