Whatever the announcement, I hope it helps the stock price!

I think the best thing to help shares would be a TV/Mini combination.

Ugh, now I have to reconsider upgrading my iPhone 2g to the fuze!

What I need to see in the iPhone:
Same processor as the touch
3.0 software with copy/paste, safari supporting flash and memorizing passwords, MMS support ( native, not 3rd party)

What I would like to see in the iPhone,
1 more physical button near the volume rocker for skipping songs ( controls like on the headphones)
Support for the new apple headphones

What I want to see in snowleopard:
Ichat 5 with better status handling (multi line stAtus messages), quicker response to hovering over buddies, and better chat history handling

MWSF is earlier than usual this year.. great if you're in the market for a Mac, now (less time to wait) :D

EVH's prediction:
  • iMac and Mac Mini bumps
  • Demo of current status of Snow Leopard
  • iLife announcements
  • iTunes success / iPhone marketshare / app store graphs
  • iPhone bump to 32GB, iTouch to 64GB
  • iPhone software 2.3 with new features (push notifications), $9.99 for iTouch

*Mac Pro to be silently bumped towards the beginning of February 2009

I'd love an Apple TV upgrade with a bigger hard drive (500 + 1000GB would be a great choice, and a logical one if they move to 3.5") and basic PVR functionality, but that's more a wish than a realistic release option.

No tablets here.. I'm guessing that would be a bigger 10.7 announcement (full multitouch OS) than a booster upgrade as I see 10.6 to be.

It goes without saying people will over-hype the event and end up dissapointed when a 12" MBP / iTablet isn't released

Add me to the list for a 64 GB iPod touch. A redesigned Mac mini would be nice too, but only if it retains Firewire. As Apple has been moving away from minor product updates at major shows (trying to combat the Osborne effect), I wouldn't be surprised to see either of these in late January or early February. That's about the timeframe the iPod touch got bumped to 32 GB this past year. A new mini might make the keynote if it's considered a major redesign, and therefore a brand new product to show off.

Of course, since I just had over $15k in unexpected home repairs, I'll be watching from the sidelines either way. The recession hasn't affected me, but this sure did!:mad::confused::eek::( <-- (the six stages of grief :D)

Unless a new mini does drop Firewire, in which case I may have to think long and hard about snapping up an old one on clearance before they're gone.

Well, I'll jump on the iphone update bandwagon. Although without high expectations (trying to stay MWSafe state of mind ;) )

As one, of a small percentage I'm sure, who have waited since "iday 1.0" to get an iphone (not voluntarily I assure you), what's going to happen if and when they announce this 32gb version possibly in january when its highly expected that there could be a near complete overhaul 6 months later?

I've been reading thread after thread where many many people are so sure of themselves there is going to be this huge announcement come june/july, so much that I'm getting excited and believing it myself!

But anyways, I guess this was really meant to be a question of sorts. For someone without unlimited funds and 5 mac computers that's just been waiting to get the iphone for this long as their Tmobile contract runs dry, does one jump on this rumored 32gb or wait a mere 6 months for the much anticipated jesus phone 2!......or 3! Or whatever the hell you wanna call it?

I've waited nearly 2 years, what's another half a season gonna hurt? Well it may just drive me insane but I'm pondering taking my chances. :D

The only two things I care about are a 32GB iPhone and Snow Leopard.

Oh yeah and Copy and Paste on the iPhone please.

Please have them both ready for sale on January 6th, 2009.

Add me to the list of "I'd like to see the Mac mini upgraded to nVidia 9400M, 4GB RAM max, DVD-RW even on the low-end model, keep FireWire 400" list.

No iPhone news, please.
It's the Mac that needs some attention.

Luckily, my unibody MacBook Pro was the fix I needed. But the rest of the Mac lineup needs TLC - MacPro (completely redesigned), MacMini & iMac. I hope Apple delivers.

I would really like to see a 3rd take on Apples self proclaimed "hobby project", the Apple TV. My home would love a great central media and backup hub (one that accepts all sorts of sources, including DVD, DivX, Xvid and whatever I want to view or listen to).

And, oh, a new Apple mouse, thats actually worth using, would be great as well. + new keyboards sporting black keys instead of white. + Snow Leopard.

Our Christmas present to my wife and myself is a new iMac, needless to say I'm waiting till Macworld to get it as I fully expect a redesign to the iMac line.

No way I purchase one based on the current price and specs.

Also, I'm expect NO updates to the iPhone and Touch as the iPhone will get it's update in June and the touch just had an update 2 months ago. They can't have something completely new for each at EVERY Mac event guys.

iMac

Sure the iMac will get an internal update but I really hope that it gets an external makeover as well. I realize that it probably won't. I completely understand why it wouldn't. I hope it does though and I hope that it is fashioned after the new ACD's. I think that those are gorgeous and that the iMac would look great with an exterior like that. Also, the LED screen would be top notch compared to the iMac's current LCD.

Quad core iMacs and maybe even a 32 GB iPod Nano update are my hopes for MWSF.

iLife/iWork '09 might turn out to be interesting but I don't use the current versions enough ti justify upgrading.

It's a consumer expo, though. Not only will the chips probably not be ready, they wouldn't announce a pro product at MacWorld, anyway.

Do you mean that in the sense that Apple products with "pro" in the name are really higher end consumer products and not true professional products? ;)

Or do you think that Apple doesn't announce servers, workstations and "Pro" laptops at MacWorld?

It must be the former, since many "pro" products have been announced at MacWorlds...

MacWorld 2006: MacBook Pro
MacWorld 2004: XServe G5
MacWorld 2003: PowerBook G4 12"/17"
MacWorld 2001: Power Mac G4 "Quicksilver" (NY), Power Mac G4 733 (SF)
MacWorld 1999: Power Mac G3 (B&W)

No (mini-)tablet rumors? Why do I have to do wishful thinking all the time? :D I hope for a mini-tablet or iPod stick (with iLife, iWork, etc.) as the big thing at MWSF, but I don't think that'll happen… (*keeping my hopes up though*)

A number of products are expected to be unveiled at or around Macworld. Long running rumors have suggested that Apple's iMac and Mac mini are due for imminent updates. Mac Pro suitable Nehalem processors are due in the first quarter and we've long heard that the remainder of the Cinema Displays will be updated at MWSF.
I think ACDs (LED, most likely) at MWSF, iMac and Mac mini in late January or late February, and Mac Pro sometime after that. 17" MacBook Pro I can see at MWSF, with Steve Jobs making some sort of "we're rounding out the MacBook line" comment. That'll most likely be a small mention, unless they use the liquid cooling mentioned in the other rumor or something else notable.

I'd also like to see a Snow Leopard preview, as well as iLife '09 and iWork '09.

9" iTablet
I wish! :D

Nehalem is such a major and important step forwards I'd be very suprised if Jobs doesn't talk about it for 25mins+ (including demo).
It's a consumer expo, though. Not only will the chips probably not be ready, they wouldn't announce a pro product at MacWorld, anyway.
WWDC looks like a perfect time to announce Nehalem and the new Mac Pro, given rumors of DP Nehalem delays and Apple's tendency to not update early.

Huh? You do realize that the new ACD is designed to look like the current iMac's, right? The only difference is the "chin" on the bottom, and if you've seen the inside, getting rid of that is going to be very difficult for Apple, if they choose to try.

Apple will bemuse and dumbfound analysts by releasing the iCrystal line of laptops, mere months after the heralded unibody line. The new laptops will each be chiseled from a solid block of Swarovski crystal.

The laptops will be incredibly thin and fragile, and Steve will wow the crowd by demonstrating a how a single high-pitched scream can shatter the casing into thousands of razor-sharp iShards.

The laptops will also be substantially slower than the current unibody lineup, and will have 0 ports of any type whatsoever, nor will they have a power supply, as any contact with the precious crystal could cause severe irreparable damage. They will instead be powered solely by the harmonic resonating of universal love and "good vibes". Bad vibes and mean people will cause the laptops to crash.

My friend's dad is in the business, and he confirmed that the 32GB is being introduced in january in black and white, and the 8GB being dropped, as well as price drops to the 16GB going to 199 and the 32GB starting up at 299, i didnt ask but u suspect the 16GB models have black and white still,

If there is any more than one step on the familiarity ladder, we don't believe you. Straight-up "friend" usually doesn't cut it, either.
