ok who the hell would need 8hrs in a 17inch notebook?
No one. It's just a gimmick, a way for Apple to now start an (expensive) $99+ battery replacement program. I don't know of anyone who uses a notebook for 8+ hours without plugging it into an AC adapter.

Expect this gimmick battery scheme to trickle down onto the MacBook and 15'' MacBook Pro with the next hardware updates.

Well in reality it is probably 4 hours under normal use.
and 1000x charges is 2.7 years... Of charging once a day... Perhaps less if you need to charge twice a day.

I want my MacBook Pro to run for 4-5 years. I guess I will go with Lenovo. A laptop even with OS X isn't useful if the battery will not work in 3 years. And I need to pay an arm and a leg to get it replaced.

Really? How do you know since Apple hasn't released the cost to replace a battery? The MBA's battery is $129, including labor, which is the same price as a user-replaceable 15" MBP or 13" MB battery. I'm guessing the 17er's battery will be around the same and that you just want to whine and moan.

3. No new Mac minis? For real? What was that about ID strings found in the latest beta of Snow Leopard?

It's a very, very bad day indeed.

Indeed. The Mac Mini thing is most annoying, IMO.

I like Cali Lewis's coverage......shes cute :)

she's cute sure but she's a bit on the slow side plus she's a serious jesus/success freak and won't give you the right umm... bang for the buck if you catch my drift (man I really like this, bang for the buck ...heheheh) ...she's cute that is but very uptight.

Should all be aiff 1411kbps - stop selling crap. i cant believe people pay for downloading crap quality music - im sure most people dont even know what they re buying!!?

I wouldn't mind FLAC or Apple Lossless, but 256 AAC is more realistic at the moment. And yes, I know what I am buying, thank you.

Yes, these seem to be the news of the day. Apple really didn't need a Keynote to announce this stuff. No wonder it was the last one. Completely forgettable.

WTH Apple? All you release are Macbook updates these days. I know it's your bread and butter but I had cash in hand to buy a new iMac or Mini. Won't be doing that now. I don't want you 2 year old spare parts for full price!

I don't know why I even get excited about these things, seams like I'm the total opposite of their target market.

Yeah but just think we can by a music lesson now for only $4.99 in iLife!

Horribly disappointing. No real product launches, no Jobs on the final keynote, nothing. barely worth being there..... maybe that's why jobs didn't go. Nothing to present.

I wonder if the DRM-free music and reduced pricing is available to Europe as well. At least that would be an improvement for me, since I really don't care about the iLife/iWork 'updates' and the 17 inch MacBook.

New hardware in a big superbowl ad like the 1984 one?

Oh Apple, you never fail to disappoint me these days.

Back in the late 90's, the best that we could hope for was a 50MHz speedbump to the G4's and some Photoshop tests. That was disappointment. Here, there is actually some new technology. It's just not what everyone hoped for all at once.

The last time the Mini was updated it was at a "Media Event" I think it was for the iMac, b ut it was a silent upgrade so there's still some hope I suppose.
