Yeah but just think we can by a music lesson now for only $4.99 in iLife!
Well actually I can't. I'm still a PC owner. Was finally goint to make the switch but why bother. I'm not buying a year and half old machine for the price it was on the day it came out.

Should all be aiff 1411kbps - stop selling crap. i cant believe people pay for downloading crap quality music - im sure most people dont even know what they re buying!!?

Apple will not sell files in a Microsoft format (WAV) nor a format that won't play on most portable music players (AIFF).

At the very best, they could sell in Apple Lossless, but that also won't play on anything but iTunes and iPods/iPhones.

Non-DRM'ed AAC files, on the other hand, play on a lot of things, from the PS3 to the Zune, AFAIK.

Hey didn't you say the Mac Mini was pretty much a lock?
:(

And if it happens within the next 8 weeks (which I suspect it will) he'll have nothing to worry about.

They don't have to do EVERYTHING today, you know. I suspect iMacs and Mac Minis are still coming in a month or 2.

iPhone Nanos, on the other hand, are not.

They shouldn't have even had a Keynote for the stuff they talk about today. I mean, seriously, they could have put it on their website and no one probably wouldn't have noticed.

Freaking software - wtf. LOL! I mean, you spend an hour talking about that.

And don't let me get started on that battery!

If when the Apple Store comes back online and that same Mini with the ComboDrive and GMA 950 is there I think i'll scream lol :eek:

OMFG I spoke too soon Its STILL THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

agreed
no wonder jobs decided to let schiller "handle" this mediocre keynote

What's amazing is the slap in the face Apple did to its fans, you know, those that think Jobs can do no wrong, by not showing up but after seeing the announcements, I have to say, it was the most boring keynote ever.

No FINAL CUT UPDATE, no LOGIC update, no mini update, (GPU is shameful and pathetic), no cool hardware, just software and itunes. Everything about Apple now is consumer based. They could care less about their fans or pro's - its all about the consumer now.

I mean really, did they have to cover the banners for iWork? Really? Cover the banners for iWork? OML LOL. That is freakin hilarious.

Sad sad day for Apple.

Wonder how long before Wall Street catches on?

No one. It's just a gimmick, a way for Apple to now start an (expensive) $99+ battery replacement program. I don't know of anyone who uses a notebook for 8+ hours without plugging it into an AC adapter.

Expect this gimmick battery scheme to trickle down onto the MacBook and 15'' MacBook Pro with the next hardware updates.

Yep. I don't know anyone either that wants longer battery life for their laptop. What a gimmick indeed.

Seriously, I used to be of the sheep mentality that a user-replaceable battery was a "must have," but I've learned differently w/ my iPhone. I've owned dozens of laptops and only a few times have I ever bought a replacement battery. Most of the time I trade them for newer models long before the battery goes kaput.

People get their hopes up EVERY year.

While that is true, this one is definitely a case of huge disappointment regardless of expectations.

What other macworld has introduced so little? They upgraded a THIRD of a product line.

And there's no question that now we've reached the point where MULTIPLE lines are way overdue for an update.

Basically, Apple want to take control of when they release hardware, so other than their previous obligation to release the 17" Macbook Pro, there was no point in releasing anything today. Like i said previously I think we'll see new bits released at separate events like they've done before.

agreed... if Apple really wants to take control of its product launches and not depend on a third party's date then it was right to downplay the keynote with Phil and no amazing product launches.

the ones who are ticked off about the event are the ones who are always ticked off about the event. their expectations are too high and should just shut up.

i, however, am very pleased with today's keynote! go apple!

man, pipe down....

How can you blame people for getting their expectations up when every single apple news and rumour site has been 100% certain on mac mini and imac updates for weeks?

It's not users who you should be directing your comments at but those who create the expectations.

Just found this on Apple's homepage.
Someone just got fired!

This is why Macworld had to go - people were expecting newer products out at every Macworld and time was an issue for Apple. They can now choose to launch products when they feel they've covered everything and not rushing because of Macworld.

That said, they should of updated the Mac Mini - its long due an upgrade. Either remove it from the line up or upgrade it.

Expectations

It doesn't make sense to be so disappointed by this event. First of all, is it even possible for Apple to keep something secret and drop a huge surprise at one of these?

Secondly, people are so obsessed with Apple products that they always start rumors about the products they really want. In reality, they could never create a product that met fans' expectations.

A lot of you are just setting yourselves up for disappointment every time.

Well, now that Apple has thrown the Mac crowd a few crumbs, they can go back to focusing on their baby - the iPhone.
