Apple Store is back up. $1200 to upgrade the RAM in the new 17" to 8GB. Also a $300 processor upgrade to 2.93Ghz. 256GB SSD is $900.

It doesn't make sense to be so disappointed by this event. First of all, is it even possible for Apple to keep something secret and drop a huge surprise at one of these?

Secondly, people are so obsessed with Apple products that they always start rumors about the products they really want. In reality, they could never create a product that met fans' expectations.

A lot of you are just setting yourselves up for disappointment every time.

uh, what? 95% of the keynote was minor software updates. MINOR SOFTWARE UPDATES. Things that you know... are shown on the showfloor? This is a keynote! not a live changelist.

It was an embarassing keynote. Outright embarassing.

this is why macworld must go. they had nothing good to announce. Without macworld this all would have been a small event or press release.
.

Indeed. Or part of a large event later this month or in Feb. with new iMacs, minis, and the actual release of iLife09 (which looks like it ads some cool features)

Awesome deal on the iLife + iWork + Leopard. It's almost the same price as buying just iLife and iWork! But it is a bad sign that maybe the unmentioned Snow Leopard is further off than hoped...

From what I could tell from shuttling between various sites, the updates on iWork and iLife overall are welcome, and the GarageBand learning is pretty cool (the original artist teaching you a song for only $5 is not bad at all!). Does anyone know if it will only be learning individual songs, or if some general lessons will be offered, too? I'm curious to read more about the iWork updates, but like the remote feature and iWork collaboration (while it's free, at least).

Great news on the iTunes front. Good riddance to DRM. $1.29 I think is reasonable, but I'm hoping that there aren't *too* many that are priced that high. Hopefully the market will encourage $.69 and $.99. Buying over 3G on iPhone is welcome (although I also worry about it bogging down the network...).

The only down parts I thought were the lack of Snow Leopard and also the 17 incher. 320 GB is great, specs overall sound good. But I don't like the non-removable battery. If I were in the market for one, that would really make me hesitate. It sounds like new technology, and there have been plenty of battery problems these days. If they had had the 8 hour internal battery AND the option to put in an external one, that would have been good....

That ALWAYS happens to the new pages. It's fun to look at.

No one got fired for getting a site put up.

Sites should be debugged at tested before they go live.
I work on websites myself, I've never let this happen to a live site.

Dear Mac Users,

We are now a phone company, and don't give a **** about your ideas of what sort of computers you need.

**MIDDLE FINGER**.

Sincerely,
Apple

that pretty much sums it up. some say this was the worst event ever, i think last years wwdc or the iphone event before that were worse. talking endlessly about a app nobody cares about.

Worst news of all - iWork to be fee based?! Guess I'll be switching to a better word processor.

Are you surprised? Come on, this is Apple.

They never said iWork would be fee-based. They said iWork DOT COM would be fee-based. I suppose you think bandwidth is free?

Anyway, I'm excited about the iLife updates, but no Mini? No iMac? No new iPhone? Lame, lame, LAME.

Completely and utterly awful.
I had no interest in the software updates, but watching the marketing spiel for (another?) overpriced, out of date and generally very poor 'high end'(hah) laptop urrrr, was.
Major innovation in nothing but how to sell some new duracells at higher profits than ever.

Maybe the Mac Mini and Pro have not been updated because they are waiting for Nehalem?

Also, hopefully in the spring/early summer Apple makes the new Matte Screen option and new battery part of the next revision for the Macbook Pro.

What's amazing is the slap in the face Apple did to its fans, you know, those that think Jobs can do no wrong, by not showing up but after seeing the announcements, I have to say, it was the most boring keynote ever.

Oh,but you are so wrong. It's all Phil's doing!

And Fanbois here will try to say that you're at fault for having your expectations too high. Yes, you're the one at fault here.

no fugly black bezel

Looks like one to me.

For anyone who thinks this wasn't disappointing, name me one year where this little was announced.

I dunno, I'd consider these 2 lists to be very equivalent, wouldn't you?

2009:
iLife
iWork
Macbook Pro 17"

2008:
Time Capsule
iPhone Software
Apple TV Software
Macbook Air

The 8 hour battery life on the 17" makes even me want to buy one!

Totally took advantage of the DRM free + higher quality tunes with lower prices already. I was thinking of buying Switchfoot - Oh Gravity but it was low quality. I just checked it and it's iTunes Plus and only 9.99 for the album. Bought!

Yeah, I don't know why it took me so long to buy the album especially when they're working on the next one for this year.

The latest iLife won't be ready until the end of the month. Would Apple sell an updated Mac mini and then tell all the new buyers they have to pay 79$ for software that should have been included with a 599$ computer?

I think we'll see the new Mac minis and iMacs when iLife is ready. Here's to another 25 days of waiting.

We've been waiting almost two years for a decent Mac mini (don't know the exact number of days since the intel switch for the Mac mini, https://buyersguide.macrumors.com// won't load), so what's 25 more days?
