FINALLY facial recognition in a desktop apps. I was excited for Picasa on Mac because they have a similar feature (think it's part of the web based service, though) and I was going to switch just for that feature. Glad I don't have to!

EDIT: Native Flickr support! Huzzah (as long as the facial recognition adds a tag to your uploaded photo and it supports Flickr Pro "native" resolution file uploads - can't see why either of these two would be a problem)! Could care less about FaceBook, personally, but the syncing of face tagging across online users is certainly something interesting.

GeoTagging will be awesome, only if Apple partners with a company to make a good geotagger that logs your location as you move around and then matches that up with your photos on import based on the timestamps. Other programs do this, but Apple could easily do it better.

Themes are interesting if the transitions really do automatically sync up to the beats of the music as the Giz liveblogger suggests. Plus, centering the people on the photo will be super handy for quick and dirty slideshows with Ken Burns on. As it is now it takes AGES to manually direct everything so it doesn't look "weird" if you use the KB effect.

Seems like hardly any members online. Maybe it hasn't updated, or MR is taking a hit?

Awesome, facebook and flikr support:)

I sure hope face recognition will make its way into Aperture sooner rather than later ! Seems like a solid iPhoto update though. Two-way syncing with FB is great, it would be even better if it would do it flickr for tags and captions for example...

Hmm. Those themes look interesting. I have a slideshow to put together by the end of the month, so I hope iLife is released today!

Slideshows can be saved to iTunes and synced to iPhone and iPod touch.

Definitely need this now.

"We've added a lot more depth -- we have support for Facebook and Flickr, that's built right in." Finally! "If you have your Facebook account set up, it sends a photo to Facebook to share... your friends can tag people in photos, and it syncs to iPhoto." Big applause. "Flickr: there's a button built in -- Flickr also supports geotagging..."

hacked

9:26 am Showing a "pumpkin patch" event with no geotag. Starts typing name, and iPhoto assists using its database of locations.
9:25 am Hovering over a pin at Aspen. Click an arrow and go straight to all Aspen photos, even across multiple events.
9:24 am STEVE JOBS JUST DIED :
9:24 am Now demoing Places.

Seems like iPhoto is all they care about anymore. I mean, it was the highlight of iLife '08, too...
The features are nice for someone that would actually use them.

I'm more interested in Garageband and iMovie. Not to mention I don't plan on buying a new Mac until Snow Leopard and Nehalem mobile components.
