Funny I was okay with the MagSafe going lol
I love the usbc way, but I understand for majority users it wasn’t clear why Apple did away with it
Somehow I think Apple chose to ditch MagSafe just to give a sense of "things are always changing".
But in my opinion, we should never change what works.
Just change what doesn't!

Wonder how much it will cost probably around 100 dollars for a cable made in China that cost 1 dollar to make?? hmm Typical Apple trying to be different as usual.

biggest thing with the ports on the MBA is that they are too close to each other. even if you are using/needing just one single USB-A adapter, the other port becomes unusable as the other USB-C connector won't fit anymore.
putting both ports on the opposite sides would have solved this (and other stuff)

I use an Apple USB-C adapter and there is no interference.

MATCH THEM BY PRODUCING BLUE CHARGERS! It’s a stupid design move, which is easily resolved. Why would you bother to make them in the first place.

It's a cost issue. Not so much to make colored chargers, but how many of each to make and stock. Keeping them one color means if you sell more red but less blue the two will cancel out, so your overage is less and thus costs less.

If Apple made colored chargers, people would expect them to match their MB Air, so that also adds to cost of packing. Small, but it adds up over millions of units.

It’s good step forward. Yet magic keyboard with black keys is still only with numeric option. Come on Apple please change that.

I understand, but this is ridicilous.

Apple doesn't make plastic accessories or products in anything but glossy white for a reason. Pretty sure that a big blue plastic charger would look like a cheap third party replicate from Wish
And this hybrid creation is better? F No.

Apple coming through with much needed innovation. Kudos!

Interestingly, the pic in the article looks like the Audi logo.

As a Space Gray 14-inch MacBook Pro owner, I feel just a little bit ripped off. Other than that, and a few other minor things, the computer is amazing.

Who actually gives a f... which colour a MagSafe cable has? Will those people buy a new MagSafe cable with their new MacBook, because the old cable has the wrong colour?

I think if Apple had just stuck to the "old one-size-fits-all" plastic white/non-braided PVC for the entire color line they would have avoided all the flack! LOL!
Yep. Either just stick with all white and if they redid all colours (which they did) why not the small usb c plug and the adapter. We all know how cheap they produce this.

I thought usb c was perfect, I know I’m in the minority on this but I prefer the usb c port over the MagSafe I can charge my iPad with it, my switch controller or any usb c device, MagSafe is just for the MacBook

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd rather the 4th Thunderbolt port like with the previous Intel model for my personal use.

Enjoy your slow charging tripping hazard then. Magsafe saved my 14 inch Pro when my roomba ran over it.

There's no reason Apple could not have made a breakaway USB-C cable, and had it be a higher charging speed as well. I used a breakaway USB-C cable with no issues when traveling with my MBP.

I also used a third-party magnetic adapter that supported full TB3 speeds with my 16" Intel MacBook Pro. If anything, it erred on the side of caution too much as any real strain on the cable (like moving the laptop quickly) would cause it to disconnect.

I wonder if anyone has calculated the damage that Jony Ive did to Apple.

Considering how strong Apple grew during his time with the company both under Jobs and then Cook, I expect whatever that damage calculation equals, it pales to the benefit calculation he brought.

I was thinking about this:

Why? Cost control is an important part of maintaining margins. It's easy to add a dollar her, another couple there and there, winding up reducing margins significantly.

To the best of my knowledge, each new version of MagSafe uses a different physical connector so it will not.

The first switch was from Original MagSafe to MagSafe 2 where they sold an adapter, I suspect that was only because the switch was while teh original was on let years model. Today, Mag Safe has been gone a while.
