HATALKIN Magnetic Car Vent Mount Wireless Charger
Did you have any luck getting 15w charging to work? I have it plus an anker adapter but I don't see the MagSafe animation.....so I don't know what "speed" it charges.

I dont think the animation has anything related to speed charging

The only way to get animation for me its using usb-c to usb-c

I warned Belkin is the worst of all
  • Vent mount doesnt grip safely into your air vent blades
  • It will tit up and down, never good for the stability
  • Leather case is too slippery

  • Trust me, best combo out there, it wont fall off even if you car hits bump

Belkin (watch from 8:25/8:30)

(watch from 6:00) you can see how stable its is (that Magsafe model has weaker magnets than the iBuliv holder, it could hold even better if you pick iBuliv)

Can you confirm if the iButliv is charging at 12w over magsafe or close to it? Do you have the right car charger for it? Here is the one I have which I think should power a full magsafe charge..

My requirements have been:
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Magsafe compatible (doesn't necessarily need to charge at 15W, but at least shows the animation)
  • Strong magnet
  • Doesn't obstruct my vision
My use case is probably a little different because it's being mounted to a Tesla, so no standard vents, and the mounts that attach the the center screen usually end up being a bit too high, therefore obstructing my vision a bit.

I've settled on a iButliv mount (link) in conjunction with a Tesla-specific vent mount that has a 14mm ball (link). The iButliv finally shows the animation with the latest iOS beta, but the charging speed has been disappointing - however, I'll live with it since the magnetic mount is insanely strong. The vent mount is also so tight/strong that I have full confidence when driving, and don't have to worry about one bit of wiggle or bounce. I do wish the iButliv had a functioning orientation magnet, though again, it's so strong that the phone has no chance of rotating - I wonder whether it's too strong for those of you with normal vent clips?

Just read this after posting a similar question. Any way you can tell just how much its charging? Do you have a capable car charger to power it?

Here's the one I am thinking about getting... I have the 9v/2A charger they claim makes it charge at full power and they even state it:

  • 【Fast Wireless Charging】--Fast charge your iphone 12 models maximum 15W when using QC 3.0 Quick Charger(9V/2A),the screen must be turned off and then plug in the charging cable so that the charge green ring will display. If using 5V/1A charger plug adapter,it just 5W regular charge, no charging green ring.THIS depend on your car adapter. With wireless Charging function compare with belkin car vent mount pro with Mag-Safe.

It will charge over 12 w through a cig lighter (PD 3.0 at least)
It only charges at 5w when using brick charger (Apple/Samsung, i tried many brick chargers for same results)

I thought the mag safe animation indicated the faster than "Qi fast" charging was in effect. i.e. use an old car cig charger and it will charge but not as fast as a higher W usb-c power delivery charger.

Just an update on this.... the magnet is certainly strong enough to hold the phone in my bouncy little Honda Fit over potholes and everything. I get the circle charging graphic with my 9v2a pd car charger attached. I still have to test when the phone battery is low and how fast it can charge but so far so good.

I’ve been looking at that and wondering how easy it is to put the phone on and take the phone off the mount given how much force it requires to insert/remove a lightning cable. Is it a quick/stable one-handed operation?
No, i had to do a return, was hard to put in and out.

Just an FYI. I use a ProClip mount with an Apple MagSafe charger. The mount is a vent mount so it sits high. When out in the sun the MagSafe charger gets hot and won't charge the phone until it cools off....

But it doesn't seem to automatically start charging. After a bit of time with the A/C blasting on it I need to unplug it from the cig charger and plug it back in.

I had sort of the same setup. My car has an infotainment screen in the middle of the dash. I had a phone mount system that attaches to the side of the infotainment screen and that any phone holder with 17mm ball socket, could mount to. Perfect for me, but on hot sunny days the phone overheats and so does the Magsafe puck.

I am surprised that many months on from the iPhone 12 launch that there are still no MagSafe certified car chargers. I think I am going to try and cobble together an ESR vent mount and a Brodit stand. I am not too fussed on speed of charging, as it is mainly for longer journeys, I just don't want the battery to drain too much.

I doubt there will be actual certified ones. if none by now I doubt it will be anytime soon. I’d stick with the other options we have.

Surely there are more cars without CarPlay than with, which would benefit from this...

In any case, I have ordered the Brodit mount, the ESR charger and a 17mm ball adapter to link them together, so will see how I get on.

What is the best mount to get now?
I'm not bothered by charging but just want something sturdy so my iPhone doesn't fall of going over speed bumps.

I have many different mounts, ram mount dash, ram mount windshield, several from Scosche, proclip (so far the best on dash permit mount), magbak (magbak.com one of the best dash mounts ever, but you have to use their case), and some even purchased over face book. I have been using Belkin MagSafe vent mount which works well enough. However I use Apple CarPlay almost all the time (love the on dash map display). Therefor using a MagSafe charging mount is not in the cards because I do not have wireless CarPlay. So I constantly turn to my go to every day mount, the Weathertech cup holder. It’s by far the most adjustable, stable and safe mount I have ever used, yes I loose one of two cup holders , but the stability is well worth it for me, no dropsies.

Weathertech cup holder

I have used two different MagSafe vent mounts and have found both work well - with the right case ( if you use a case). The iButev mentioned earlier is very strong - probably the strongest magnets I have found in a car mount. I have asl used the ESR mount. My Phone Rebel 2 case is the best case and has never fallen off no matter how hard of a bump I have hit. Pitaka has a strong case as well.

As for CarPlay, I too do not have the wireless CarPlay, so I plug in while on the MagSafe mount and just unplug the mount from the USB. Sure, it's another wire, but I like the quick on and off and sometimes I don't plug in on shorter trips around town and Bluetooth my music.

Hello Guys, do you believe that i can attach this magents (see picture), to one of those old magnetic car mounts and that will be able to work with iphone 12 magaafe? I do not need charging but i have three cars, same mounts in each one and i dont wanna buy new expensive mounts.

I had two of this magnets , they are not very strong, if you plan on using in your car, it will not hold, plus you will feel a bump on your case.
