Here is Aukey magnetic vent mount, even if its an advertising, you can clearly see how vent mount with hook seems to be more sturdy than that vent mount provided by iButliv / Hatalkin and co
Once tightened, it doesnt move at all, its one of best vent mount i have experienced (keep in mind the hook seems to be little bit fragile, do not remove and tighten a dozen times in a row like i did, once tightened, do not touch it anymore)
Anything with hook and knob to tighten will help holder to avoid leaning up/down
Belkin Magsafe car mount has even worse vent mount solution
(from 8:20, it goes up and down and too shaky)

Better to pick the Miracase metallic hook vent mount, its good alternative to the Aukey (if you only use for Magsafe)

I like the aukey because its smaller and i have the belkin one already this looks even more clunky with the holding arms (which defeats the point of the magsafe to me).
Is the aukey just not available yet?

You need a car holder that has 17 mm ball mount compatibility (which is mainly standard)

for example, i have two Magsafe car holder, i can swap holder and mount in both way

Ugh.. so I got the Belkin vent mount pro from Apple and the saddle brown leather case for the pro max!

Mounted just fine in my Lexus.. hit a bump and the damn phone dislodged and fell to the floor.. 🤨 So much for that..

I’m really beginning to dislike this magsafe crap!

I warned Belkin is the worst of all
  • Vent mount doesnt grip safely into your air vent blades
  • It will tit up and down, never good for the stability
  • Leather case is too slippery
If your phone is wearing a phone case, please use the original Clear/Silicon MagSafe case or a ZEERA MagSafe case with enhanced magnet strength. (Leather MagSafe Case is too slippery to hold your iPhone 12 while driving)

  • Trust me, best combo out there, it wont fall off even if you car hits bump

Belkin (watch from 8:25/8:30)

(watch from 6:00) you can see how stable its is (that Magsafe model has weaker magnets than the iBuliv holder, it could hold even better if you pick iBuliv)

Which model?

By the way, metallic hook vent mount, i ordered it
One of the best vent mount i ever tried

Here is the same kind of hook vent mount but made in plastic (hook), hook was broken after some tests

Got that Miracase vent clip as few days back, and the damn thing scratched the vent on my new Lexus  It wasn't deep enough ..

I've nearly given up on finding a decent mount ( wireless/magnetic or not ) that can hold the 12 pro max with a case w/o drooping, falling, breaking, scratching..

I would like a cup phone holder like this one with a magsafe.
The air vent holder will block my head unit display.

I bought this one. the front magnet works perfect for my iP12 pro with apple leather case. snug and doesn't move while driving. the bad is the puck doesn't stick to the current magnet in the back. when I remove my phone, the puck stays on the back. this company makes another type that I may try but just saw they increased the price overnight.

I prefer this type being I don't need wireless charging due to carplay. I also don't want a vent clip. I like the minimal look.

Quarble Magnetic Adapter Compatible with MagSafe Case and iPhone 12 Pro Max Mini, Attached to Old Magnetic Car Phone Mount Holder No Metal Plate Needed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SR1658...abc_J9CA6GM18PCG0NTG81CN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

so I stuck with this one and seems to have worked better over time. it's perfect for what I had already which was the small dash mount.

Nice
Can you remove the syncwire circular part out of ball mount?
I wonder if the ball mount is standard (17 mm)

I wanted a low-profile Magsafe car charger that used the cigarette lighter for power but I couldn’t find one... So I made my own (3D printed)

@14:36” in this video you’ll see the final product and the link for the files is in the description.

Enjoy!

Not sure which case you have but you can also add a plate on inside of the case and it should not affect charging but you can double check to confirm. This is very very strong with multiple configurations available for it.

Ok i got ''ibuliv'' model in black color, i had silver one bought earlier
Some slight differences:
  • On the back, screw that was below ball mount is gone, its cleaner (that screw was quite useless)
  • Inside ball mount, now its a screw that be easily removed (Phillips screw)
  • Charging LED no longer turn on, quickly turn on then off
  • Same magnets strength
Here is my magnet strength with my 12 Mini (vent mount+holder)
If i move quickly as fast as i can and push a lot of strength, its going to be fall off after 10 seconds
If i move quickly as fast as i can but with less strength, over 30 seconds

I moved much quicker than any YT reviews
(i think slightly faster than him from 4:30)

Test on your own, i have 12 Mini which is smaller and lighter (but i also had VanSmaGo like him and iBuliv has stronger magnets)
I even compared with my silver model which i have dismounted entirely the ball mount, so i took off vent mount for straight comparison, i ve oriented both in landscape mode and hold it on the part that doesn't held the phone
Same result, similar.

To quickly resume, from my own testing, there is no doubt, it will not fall off even hitting big speed bump

I will stay with iBuliv in black color, the only thing i dont like about it, ring isnt black, its greyish/white
Otherwise great model, i have bought on Aliexpress for couple bucks (with some discount, 10 usd lol)

I’ve ordered this Mpow MagSafe car mount from Amazon, hopefully it’s sturdy and has a strong magnet. Arrives this Friday.

I just received this one and got to say its pretty good considering how much it cost.

Magnetic Wireless Car Charger, Vent Mount Wireless: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Only problem i got is that it does not fit my car which is a Ford Fiesta. Doesn't not matter which vent I use it does not look right.

Solved the problem by using an old CD holder I had hanging around the ball joint is an exact fit so now got it using the Cd slot and its now perfect.

Did a few small runs and had no problems with it will be doing a longer run this week and will report back.

BTW it also charges

My requirements have been:
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Magsafe compatible (doesn't necessarily need to charge at 15W, but at least shows the animation)
  • Strong magnet
  • Doesn't obstruct my vision
My use case is probably a little different because it's being mounted to a Tesla, so no standard vents, and the mounts that attach the the center screen usually end up being a bit too high, therefore obstructing my vision a bit.

I've settled on a iButliv mount (link) in conjunction with a Tesla-specific vent mount that has a 14mm ball (link). The iButliv finally shows the animation with the latest iOS beta, but the charging speed has been disappointing - however, I'll live with it since the magnetic mount is insanely strong. The vent mount is also so tight/strong that I have full confidence when driving, and don't have to worry about one bit of wiggle or bounce. I do wish the iButliv had a functioning orientation magnet, though again, it's so strong that the phone has no chance of rotating - I wonder whether it's too strong for those of you with normal vent clips?

you meant phone orientation right?
I dont like to flip my phone using iBulive mount with vent mount, its feasible but it will work better on circular magsafe holder
I ordered this kind of vent mount
I assume its metal hook but it could be misleading and made in plastic, anyway i'd prefer that kind of vent mount, much more stable than iBuliv stock vent mount

The other solution could be using an adhesive tape holder with ball mount

I dont know if you can both remove magnetic holder out of ball mount and if ball mount would fits to your magsafe model

If it was the case, buy some industrial double tap or gorilla tape, it will hold much stronger

By orientation magnet, I meant the vertical line that's supposed to keep the phone straight. I'd try other vent mounts, but my Model 3 has some atypical vents, and I use the phone vertically 99.9% of the time anyway. I could rotate it on the existing mount, but prefer it tightened so it doesn't move at all. The vent mount looks like this (I removed the MagSafe holder and exposed the 14mm ball mount) - I'm wary of using adhesives, as I don't want to mar the trim:

Hmm that looks like a possibility -- if the orientation magnet is actually functional. Otherwise, I've found that it would rotate too easily. Before the iPhone12, I had an Xvida mount that basically did the same thing (but with a suction cup) that would bounce a lot. I think I'll run with my setup for now. Although it's a but too far to reach easily, maybe that's a good thing. It's definitely solid, since it basically sits flush on the dash so it keeps it from moving.
