So if Apple mail is removed and I have another email app installed and I click on an email address does it open in the non-apple Mail app or does it prompt me to install apple Mail?

Can Safari be removed?

Safari can't be removed. I don't know about the email, but if you remove one of the control centre apps it no longer shows up (obviously) but annoyingly can't be replaced.

Safari cannot be removed. For that matter neither can Messages, Photos, Camera, Clock, Wallet, App Store, Health, Settings and Find iPhone.

yet, apple tips continues to be unremovable

you might want to read before you post.... It can.

Why didn't Apple talk about this?
But how do you reinstall them, and how does this work with Siri. Does this mean we can now change default apps, and when we say to Siri "send email..", does it use a third party app? What about for viewing photos via Siri? This raises many questions o_O

I'm guessing that setting default apps will come in a later build, that deleting apps wasn't really discussed in keynote, but might in the dev sessions. Developers can now access Siri, so it could be possible for someone to say to Siri to play a song on Spotify or send an email via gmail, or call someone via Skype, if the developers take advantage of it, replacing Apple Music, Mail or FaceTime.

Why did they spend so much time on useless emoji?
So, your opinion of emoji is the be all and end all? Face it, there's a big audience for Emoji, whether you like it or not.

So why can't we delete the news app?

Because = Beta. It's in the notes it can be deleted in a later build. Just not in Beta 1.

It's not there any more and will promote you to install it if something requests it... No 3erd party mail support

This is a developers conference. The amount of time they allocated to emoji without mentioning much of the developers is laughable. This wwdc was for the lowest common denominator of Apple target audience

Probably because "And now, in the new iOS 10, you can remove all of those useless native Apple apps that you never open, and just take up space!" wouldn't go over too well with the Board. Glad to see this is a feature, though.

What does it have to do with the board? They don't deal with such trivial matters. It's a user-demanded feature that Tim Cook promised. Simple as that.

And yes it wasn't mentioned because it's almost impossible to frame it in a positive light in accordance with Apple's unswerving cult of positivity.

Seems like they talked a fair bit about messenger apps in relation to it all, which is where developers come in. Quite a bit was aimed at developers.

And they don't really even take up much space: http://support.apple.com/HT204221

The Keynote of the developers conference, which is streamed online to the masses, that want to see what's coming in the OS update, you do realise that WWDC is all week long, with many many sessions for developers, where they will not be talking about emojis?Apple knows that random joe bloggs people will watch the keynote, they cater to their audience.

You might have a point if they spent much time, if any, talking about emojis in any of the sessions over this week. Go on, check the schedule for the sessions, any on Emojis? Nope. Also, you can bet that the videos made available after each session will not have it either.....

Millions? You have facts to back that up?

Facts? No, no I don't - unfortunately there hasn't been an in depth study with formal findings published on how many average users keep the stocks app etc. in a separate folder. But going by the amount of iPhones users I've spoken to and seen complaining on here over the years, and how many of them talk about having a folder just like the picture above Mac Rumors used I'd say millions, yes.

Bare in mind if you want facts, actively contributing to discussions on a website called MacRumors which is built on the complete opposite of facts is probably not the site for you.

True this is a site for rumors from credited sources. But when you post your opinion as fact, that's different.

Instead, why not say "a lot of users on this site...."

Much better. No?

To be fair, it's a high majority of users on any site you go to, not just Macrumors. It's also one that's been longstanding.

The fact to back up that it's probably near millions, is the fact that Tim Cook specifically asked about being able to delete stock apps on Colbert's Late Show, with much applause from the audience.

That alone means it's not restricted to "a lot of users on this site..."
