1. No one joined facebook to see ads which were no existent years ago.
2. Under commercial law no ads can be pushed unless a contract (not implied) exists between both parties and until such times, no ads an be served without the full terms and conditions being viewable in addition to a signed contract. No contract (signed) no ads - basic commercial law.
3. Businesses that want to use FB to advertise should have their own separate (paid) FB Business site where people go to search for a business and see ads for services. Personal and Business FB pages should cross over. To force ads that at are not wanted or warranted onto normal users who have no business needs is immoral and unacceptable. If i want a business I will search for it but will not accept any such material on the normal friends / family FB Page.
4. No business material or ads should be offered on the normal public FB site as this should only be used for keeping in contact with friends and family and loved ones.
5. The people never gave consent to any of this and "blanket" EULA's / Terms of Service contracts are unlawful under Common Law due to different jurisdictions.
6. Facebook has effectively hijacked the FB platform and changed it from a "social network" to a "publisher" without consent or approval the users.
7. We are not here to financially prop up their social networking system. It should be run as a service, not a business.
8. Since FB is using coercion and blackmail I have had to instigate the use of complex filters / blockers / tracking removers and custom filter lists on all my computers to remove cookies / trackers / ads / etc and the more ads I get the more I block them all.
9. Facebook Community Guidelines are simply a generic term used to silence / oppress / censor anything that is contrary to the echelon of FB and can be used to manipulate / silence any posts by anyone as it's simply a blanket excuse and the term is freely thrown about as some sort of valid reason when it is not. We have no right of reply - typical electronic dictatorship and again proof the "service" is now a "publisher" as only publisher's edit / change content. Guidelines are not law, and therefore avoidance of such guidelines is not a criminal / legal issue. Excerpt "A “guideline” is a suggestion made by an expert, a body of experts, a trade or professional group or a government agency that expresses best practices or promotes desirable behaviour without having the force of law.".

as much as I hate government involvement in technology - Privacy needs to get some serious attention and FB needs to get seriously looked at

They should pull their apps from all Apple platforms immediately! What’s that? Inflict pain? Oh, sorry, OK then, leave them available. Nothing to see here. Move along....

Inflict pain? Is he going to unfriend Tim Cook?
As we have seen in the past, social media (and big tech in general) can have considerable influence on the population with subtle and rather difficult to perceive tactics. For example, FB promoting negative, but factual/non-disproven news articles about Apple, or Google simply adjusting the top results algorithm for Apple-related searches. The danger in all of it is that we can’t cheer it on in one instance, and not be very worried about the next instance, since all moderation is done behind the scenes, and it’s rather easy to wipe away or bury digital ideas.

I’m not calling Apple the knight in shining armor here, but more making the point that there are so many nuanced actions that can have a substantial impact due to the sheer size of the company’s customer base. Apple can just fight back more successfully and lean on its general popularity and loyal customer base. Imagine a smaller entity attempting to do this—they would be crushed like a beer can.

No, he is a sociopath. He hasn't actually tried to kill someone in person, as far as I know...

No, he's a Nihilist! And he fits a few of the different types of Nihilism.

Nihilism is very popular in this country right now for some reason.

Zuckerberg is making his millions on the worst impulses of humanity. He's a bully who has figured out how to market the injury and self-righteousness of the cliques that raged throughout our elementary and high school days, while scraping all of the data they can browbeat people to surrender. On one hand, he's an evil marketing genius, on the other he's an impotent bully trying to keep his grip on the throat of his victims to extort more money and pain.

He will fight like hell to stay on top of the sewer he created, lest he slips below the surface and disappears in its murky depths.

The movie “The Social Contract” is looking more and more like a documentary. Fakebook seems to still be about a personal issue for Zuckerberg.

We also now know that Fakebook played a much bigger role in organizing the Capitol Riots.

I am glad Apple is standing up to their evil. We need a King Kong to fight Godzilla.

I think he was picked on too much in college, and this is revenge for all that torment.

"it will hurt small businesses"
Small businesses needs to learn another way of getting to the customer without an invasion of privacy. You had it good for a long time, be thankful for that and change your strategy. I'm with Apple on this one and I'm glad they are putting their foot down on privacy. I know Apple has an angle here too, but I don't care in this case, this one benefits the iOS owner.

Breaking news! [not really, I hope]

Instead of using Haptic technology in the FaceWatch, a brand new super FaceTic feature (trademarked, patent pending) will be used!

How will this exciting new technology work, you ask?

First Use Case - "I Luv Facebook" app
This is an always on (because who wouldn't want this, am I right?) app that can't be un-installed. If the FaceWatch wearer hasn't liked something Zuckerberg has said on Facebook, then they get a reminder:

"Hey there! I see you haven't liked Zuck's latest post. Do so now."
"I am busy, later."
Bzzztttt. Bzzzztttt. Bzzzztttt. [sounds of electroshocks from the watch sensors)
"Sob! OK, OK, OK, I am liking his post right now!!!!!!!"
"Please quit shocking me. Please..."

Second Use Case - "Purchase the F**king Product that was just advertised" app
Who wants to spend money on advertising but not get a sales from every single person that saw the ad? Nobody, that is who! With the revolutionary FaceTic technology, we here at Facebook can guarantee everyone wearing a FaceWatch will ultimately buy your product. We really can offer you a captive audience!

"Hey there! I see you haven't purchased the product whose ad you just saw. Don't you think you should buy it now?"
"Bugger off, it is a crappy product."
Bzzztttt. Bzzzztttt. Bzzzztttt. [sounds of electroshocks from the watch sensors)
"Sob! OK, OK, OK, I am buying the product right now!!!!!!!"
"Please quit shocking me. Please..."

And you might say, well what is to stop someone from simply taking off the watch? That's the beauty of FaceWatch - once it goes on it doesn't come off. Our special FaceGlue ensures a smooth and permanent bonding to the sucker's, we mean user's, wrist.

The FaceWatch and it's revolutionary new FaceTic technology - the way of the future!

Poor Facebook. They want to delve into people's private lives so they can sell them stuff. What could be more wholesome than that?

NOT Rocket Science, FB simply needs to develop, market, & sell, a FB-branded smartphone !

From this EE's perspective, would be NO different than Apple wanting to get into the Car business.

And, if FB subsidized the cost of the smartphone in exchange for User Ads, it could be a BIG win NOT just for FB, but ALSO for those of us who use iPhones, as it could potentially force Apple to reduce their margins considerably !

IMO Apple has done well for one reason & one reason ONLY, lack of competition from another American company !

A FB smartphone, if done right, could Upset the Status Quo !

Personally, I am very shocked Zuck never attempted this years ago !

At a MIN, it could have given FB considerable leverage.

Didn't Facebook already do this?

Looks like they did: Here's why the Facebook phone flopped

Money quote from the article (bold emphasis by me): "The HTC First, also known as the Facebook phone, was unofficially declared a disaster after AT&T dropped its price from $99 to 99 cents on Wednesday."

No, he is a sociopath. He hasn't actually tried to kill someone in person, as far as I know...

The most important distinction between a sociopath and a psychopath is whether they have a conscience and are able to form close attachments to others. Even if someone hasn't commited any crime ever, they can still be a perfect example of a psychopath. In fact, sociopaths are usually more prone to comitting "physical" crimes like murder, because they are less in control of their destructive behavior.

I think it's pretty clear that Zuck doesn't have a conscience of any kind.
