Just to recap, so I don't have to sift through 23 pages... Are people camping out in front of this store? Do they have all 3 versions, or just the high-end ones (WATCH and WATCH Edition)? What is the inventory like? Have friends and family that could be heading there soon and I could ask them to see if they could nab one, should it become available for immediate purchase...

People still line up(camping no so sure about). They get random shipments of random inventory everyday(but more Sport models). Tell them to set at LEAST 1-3 hours aside depending on time/day

I went Friday at noon, stood in line for 10 minutes and got a ticket/appointment to come back and order or buy the watch @ 2:30 (the earlest available) , they take you in groups of 5 or so.. Came back at 215 and they were already calling names out, in the store by 2:30, out by 2:45

Inventory is mainly the Sport watches, but if you order another version, turnaround time is much faster than online, typically 1-2 days.

If only. At least three or four of us here are waiting for SS 42 Milanese

Very keen to get updates on Maxfield, if any goes or gets a call today. Keep us posted. I'm no in LA, but have had a friends order for me.

Waited in line yesterday - got there around 8:30 and was (I think) 13th in line. Got the last 42 SS with classic band.

I think I might have been the only person in line who was actually keeping their watch.

I just walked over at 11:15 (they open at 11) and there were maybe 10 people in line. I got there just as the store representatives were talking to the person in front of me. They took my ID, Wrote down my name and gave me a ticket. My time slot is at 12:45. I'll update after I get back from my appointment. I was in the line for maybe 5 minutes before I got my ticket for my time slot. Very quick, seemed well organized. I'm looking to get the 42 SG Sport so we'll see what happens.

Why is Apple a joke? I have to answer -- as off topic as it is.

Do you REALLY think it's some sort of weird accident or part issue with the watch that they choose a hip high end boutique like Maxfield to sell a small amount of Apple Watches?

You REALLY think that this whole thing could and should be done at an Apple Store like The Grove or Beverly Center?

No!

This is totally by design. And yeah they are holding steady on this strategy - as crazy as it is making the normal "Apple" early adopters feel. The heat Apple in Cupertino is feeling I'm sure is very hot. No doubt. But ...They need to stick to it. Those who understand the depth of the "accessory" market get it. It's HUGE. It's lifestyle. And it makes sense.

The idea of selling these watches at the Apple Store would totally destroy the legacy of the Mac AND its biggest product -- the iPhone and drive away a throng of customers that want no part of "watches". I'm shocked how so many don't get it. This is not "transitioning" the iPod market to iPhone people.

My gut says that balance on the watch will happen globally AFTER the next iPhone release and be readily in supply just in "time" for the holidays. By then they will accumulated enough order data and preferences to make this a blockbuster catergory - another reason today the watch is relegated to the "other" category on its financials -- for now...

The watch will end up being a HUGE category for Apple - bet me.

Btw I ordered a 42 mm Sport Black Space Grey today at Maxfield. Took 20 min to get a appointment time. Waited 1 hour till called into store. Done. Guy said 2 days is average till called for pick up. It's Saturday so I'll expect it Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bottom line. This beats what will happen via an online order. So far..

Congratulations!

Ill be going to LA on the 17th if I don't receive my online order of a 38mm Space Grey sport, I will try to get one there. What are the chances I could go and have one in my hand same day?

I've just returned from Maxfield. I went to see about switching my 42mm SS w/Milanese to a BSB in order to speed up the process if possible. I parked in their lot, went inside, and the staff was waiting with smiles on their faces. At first they gave me the "we can neither confirm nor deny" line when I asked them about the liklihood of receiving the BSB sooner than the Milanese (the line was delivered tongue in cheek, btw). But then one of them took my receipt, disappeared upstairs for a few minutes, returned, and told me not to switch as he "wouldn't be surprised if you received a call from us this week."

So, for the four, or so, of us with identical orders, I suspect the wait will not be much longer :D.

cool, thanks for doing this! I wanted to do same, but seems we are getting the watch soon, so no need now!

Awesome post. Thanks for the update. BTW, is your name a reference to Echo and the bunnymen?

You're welcome! Fingers crossed it's not false hope on his part (and now mine, I guess).

Thanks and you're welcome as well. LOL, I can't say the band had anything to do with it. Fifteen years ago this month, my wife and I were about to tell friends the name we decided on for our first and only child. A Japanese friend cut us off and guessed "Zumbo"; you'll have to ask her why. I responded, "Yes, his name will be Little Zumbo...absolutely." I've been using it ever since.

Driving up from San Diego

This is to those that have been to Maxfield and picked up a watch. I am considering driving up to LA on Weds and seeing if I can pick up a sport. I am good with any color band except pink. So I have a few questions. Are there watches that can be picked up in the store for immediate purchase? What would be a good time to show up? How long would do you think it will take? Thanks in advance.

From what I've been reading, Maxfield has implemented an additional step -- getting an appointment time.

I would suggest showing up at 7AM perhaps (someone help me on this) to line up. I believe if you get a ticket, you can get one on the spot OR get an appointment time to come back. At that appointment, you either preorder or be able to buy one that's available.

Stick to 42SG as that's the one they get the most. Or blue/green 38s.

Correct

Hmmm, so it sounds like they don't get many 42" Silver Aluminum with White Bands? Does that sound correct?

They get those too but most reports here I see were 42SG. That's what I got and got it within 16 hours.

Anyone else order a 42mm SS BSB in the last 2-3 days? Ordered mine This Friday, still waiting.

Are you joking?? People are waiting since launch day.

Yea this is bull! So if you live around LA, you can make 600 dollars on eBay and take stock away from people who want a watch

Apple really screwed this one up bad
