This is my second MBP and it looks exactly the same. Someone posted their uMB and MBP right next to each other and the one on the left IS purple!

I have the 9C9E - Samsung Panel. It's very very bad, blue/purple issue and white looks like yellow/grey. I will send back to Apple.

Left: MacBook Pro 13" (Mid 2009)
Right: MacBook Unibody (Late 2008)

Could you please provide a high resolution picture of this! Please!?

Thanks.

Got mine today 9CBD FTW!!

I can see what people are saying about the blue/purple thing but is it not due to the wider colour gamut (i don't know im no expert).

If you look at any of these images colours look spot on.

I have already calibrated it myself.

how do you calibrate the screen?

and how do you check which lcd model is on the lap top??

Here's a comparison picture of my 13" MBP and 15" MBP (Late 2008). The 13" has a 9CA0 panel (apparently no one else has this panel) and the 15" has a 9C85 panel. Should the 13" really be that yellow? I thought these panels were supposed to be just as good as the rest of the MBP lineup?

9CBD, just bought two days ago. Colors are amazing - and I normally hate glossy screens, but for some reason my eyes are adjusting wonderfully to this panel. I may not even put an anti-glare on it

There are faint lines, similar I'm guessing, to what I hear people complain about the MBA panels. But the lines are so faint, and only noticeable at a certain angle, that I will not be returning the computer. Otherwise the display is fantastic.

Did you calibrate it yet? Maybe you should if you haven't then re-take the pics and show us. :)

You might want to calibrate the apple on the outside of the display. Your 15 inch is showing a bit of yellow tinge while your new 13" mbp has a much brighter whiter apple logo. Is that screen bleed on the lower right hand corner of the 15"?

Just playing.

Don't think a calibration is going to fix this as it seems it's a contrast issue and not a color issue. It's no different than viewing the panel from the left or right.

9CBD here - sweet screen, no dead pixels or light bleed that I can see :)

I actually have to have the brightness well down, because it's so bright up at the top end. I'll put some sort of dark movie in tonight to check blacks etc (last night was set up and first battery run-down).

Infinitely better than the BenQ 24" VGA that I use attached to my Mini on the desk at home lol

The 9CBD really is bright! Even when plugged in, I never have it turned up all the way. In my living room right now its a bit dark and there are no lights on and I have it at 5 under max and its perfect.

well after finally getting my new MBP in the mail today it is a 9CBD & looks amazing, no more purples on my blues & the flourescent greens/yellows are no more!

so glad i swapped it & i picked up apple care for $110 :) So now i'll be a happy camper for years to come!

i had my 9cbd replaced and got a 9c9f. the neon-like colors are better but not completely gone, and now i have bleeding on the lower left corner, the streak issue on the right side and an uneven keyboard. i really hate apple.

It would really be a shame if someone were to return a Notebook without ever calibrating it.

I change profiles constantly as it's required for various video sources.

It's a relative sort of thing.

It's unfortunate that calibration isn't done at launch when you first turn it on.

But with all these returns Apple may just resort to this.

Another 9C9E screen here (girlfriend's new Mac 13"). Beautiful and without the neon colors of the 9C9F I had.

Just received my 13" today.

My screen's 9C9E.

I've got it directly beside my 2nd gen MBA, and the colours are nowhere near the same. The MBA has brighter whites, and the overall brightness on max is much brighter on the MBA.

The blues do appear purple with the MB.
I tried calibrating, it gave everything a purple hue. I've done the calibration numerous times and I've never had that problem. I tried loading the calibration I used for my MBA, and it's a little better, but still has purple hue, just less so.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point...

9CBD here. It's a very good display. Bright, uniformly lit and reasonably good color accuracy after calibrating it with a colorimeter. This is my second foray into the Mac world. A couple of years ago, I returned two 15" MBPs because of really inferior LCD panels, and I gave up on Apple. But this new 13" MBP has a panel at least as good as other notebooks I've had.

Are you using native white point or 6500K? I am finding that the native white point calibration on my screen matches better to the 6500K calibration of my desktop LCD than a 6500K calibration on the laptop does.

It's 9C9A. Has the lines as well.

At least these new panels don't have those frickin lines anymore (much easier on the eyes, less strain surprisingly). The purple hue is a little annoying though. So are the greens.. I've tested a few movies now, and grass is way too vibrant. I think they made a mistake implementing a wider gamut.
