I have a 9C9E with the same "blue" problem. The issue still exists when I boot into Vista via Boot Camp.

My mom's got the entry level, ordered the same time I got mine (2.53). Her's is 9CBD. No purple issue.. after calibrating it looks fantastic. HOWEVER, scrolling causes 'breaks'... sometime mine doesn't do.

God, why can't they be CONSISTENT for once? Get one good panel and stick with it?? Soooooo annoying!!

so i have the 9C9F and started to notice a really bright green/yellow. calibrated it today using SuperCal and it looks EXCELLENT. loving the color quality.

the only thing is that i notice changes in the screen at different viewing angles that werent present in the first Unibody model. but its all good, these screens are amazing.

Regarding the 9CAO screen on Macbook Pro 13.

I have this screen. Bought this model in France, after returning one of the same models with a screen that was brighter, but washed out and the text looked too light against white background. Also the field of vision, both horizontal and vertical were a bit limited. Much happier with this screen. The vertical and horizontal views are much better, the colors seem saturated and the text crisp.
Compared it last night with a friend's Macbook Pro 15"--a late october 2008 model. The 15" color was a bit more muted, but overall comparison was quite good. I realize these new models have an increased color gamut, which might make the colors seem more punchy, but my photos look great and am quite satisfied with the screen. No dead pixels, as opposed to the model that I returned. Unfortunately, I forgot the model number of the screen that I returned.

What does everyone use to calibrate their screen? I'm a MBP newb.

Does the OS have something built into it?

This is by far the best computer I've ever used... The controls are so intuitive, the screen is brilliant the colors are deep and rich and it's so fast! Exceeded all of my expectations... awesome job Apple! Totally worth the money.

Hi fellow 9CA0 owner :). Glad you are enjoying your screen!

So far are all the uMBP screens GREAT?
Or we should look out particular models?

I have this lcd too but i dont notice much difference.should i be concerned and get it replaced?
will it in the future get worse or is it just being picky for colors?I dont have any other macbooks to compare too so not sure.
also, if i do get ir replaced how do i know that the new one will have the new screen 9c9f? is there a way to check on the serial or model number of the box?

The only way to check what screen is fitted would be to open it up and check via the ColorSync utility. I suppose you could do this in store and check for any dead pixels at the same time.

My 9C9E screen is yellowish and it looks pretty undersaturated. Also, when I scroll, blue links become purple.

Will try to see if I can get a replacement by taking it into a different Apple Store (I don't want to get the same model if I go into the same Apple store because they order in batches of 50 or 100). Any tips on how I should talk to the Genius Bar person?

My screen looked the same until I downloaded a calibration profile from this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/717720/

Try those out and see if they help. I find that when I switch back to the default profile, my colors are very washed out and yellow. I'll probably eventually take a picture to demonstrate, and post it somewhere on the board.

On another note, I have a 9C9F and it is beautiful (after calibrating)l! Things do turn funky colors while scrolling, but I don't really mind that. This is one of the best laptop screens I've seen, and to be honest is the main reason I bought a MBP13 lol.

How do I check what model mine is?

Here's a comparison pic between the new 13" MBP (glossy), black 13" MBP (glossy) and a 12" Powerbook G4 (matte)

9ca0

Hey guys, I've got a 9CA0 panel in mine.

I've noticed that the factory default settings for the panel have a very noticeable yellow tint to it :( I used SuperCal to calibrate it and I have to admit it did help make it better, but I still find that there is a ever so slight yellow tint to it, which isn't noticeable right away, but now that I've spotted the problem, i keep noticing it :(

Anyone else with this issue?

How do I check the model # and how do I calibrate the screen?
I was looking around the System Profiler but I didn't find anything.

To check which screen you have

1. Open the ColorSync utility
2. Click on Displays
3. Click on ColorLCD
4. Open the profile on the right hand side of the screen.
5. Scroll down to #13 and click on the line

Thanks for the tip. ^
I have the 9CBD! The only thing I'm not happy about is the 1.5GB SATA connector. Either way, the SSD is still amazingly fast though... :D

You can calibrate it in the Displays preferences in System Preferences under the Color tab.

I have a 9C9E and although it doesn't have a lot of color gamut in darker areas, it's actually a pretty nice screen. It doesn't seem to be as good as my Samsung T220HD, though, except in terms of pixel density.

Hi everybody : recieved a 9C9E MacBook Pro 13 this morning.

Poor screen quality (washed out, and color inversions... etc.): it ships back to Apple this morning too ;-)

I'm waiting for a new one, to see a better screen I hope: the screen is the only reason that make me switch from my uMacBook CE to this one! :D

After quite a few calibrations, I'm very happy with my 9C9F, despite it's slightly cool hue.

Something I've noticed between mine and my mom's 9CBD though,

9C9F: Scrolling is choppy
9CBD: Scrolling is smooth, but suffers from 'breaks'

It's amazing how these screens differ so much, and in more ways that just colours it seems.

Recieved a 9CBD today, and I still have the 9C9E for some comparisons.

In fact, both screens look the same. The default calibration is a little different (9CBD look greater, but there's no much difference)

Anyway, after calibrating those babies with a Spyder2Express, there is no more difference at all! Same viewing angles, etc.

So, in my opinion, the differences betweens the different manufacturers are negligibles: no reasons to get mad about that...

Here are some screenshots (I've done that the best way I can): Leica D-LUX4, ISO100, RAW, fixed exposition, fixed with balance, and unrawed on Lightroom. Let my know what you think!

2 manufacturers, but there's finally no much differences :

Viewing angles looks identicals :

On the left, 9C9E and on the right 9CBD :

Horizontal viewing angles looks the same, too...

Finally, a little video of the MacBooks Pro, to show that the screens looks the same:

Can your post the calibration profiles for both of the screens? Also, was the brightness of both displays at max?

I feel my 9CBD screen is relatively dim (especially next to my iPhone)....do you experience this?

Thanks

Yes, full brightness. My profiles come from a Spyder2Express, and usually people find them "over red"... (6500K, 2.2 Gamma) But, no problem, I'll post them.

Regarding the brightness, no, I don't have this feeling with my 3G iPhone
