We will get a 64GB iPhone this year?

From what I've seen, the new iPhone is completely redesigned. Other parts can be made smaller. One good example is the micro-SIM. I also heard that the screen is a lot thinner than on the current version. Like I said, I don't care how it's done as long as it's done without sacrificing the battery life or increasing the price. I also would not like to sacrifice any functionality. I remember people doubting the 32 GB iPhone too and look what happened.
least I know you will be one of the first to start a complaining thread when apple don't announce the 64gb model:rolleyes::rolleyes:.... your expectations of what you want done are not even realistic, if your basing your judgement on the fact ipod touch has 64gb then yeh that can do that cause it has more space inside

You don't seem to get it. Apple has to make the iPhone from components that are currently available on the market and which they can purchase about 20 million of over the next year. As far as I know, the only 64 GB NAND flash memory chip currently announced is Toshiba's -- and they announced less than two weeks ago that mass production would begin "this summer." Does that sound like they have a couple of million lying around? Besides, the price of such a chip is likely to be too high to satisfy your price requirement.

Toshiba has been manufacturing them for at least 2 months and Apple easily could have its hand on a bunch of them.

I personally might not get a 64g iPhone but I would hope that they doo offer that and a white version with a white face plate (witch I would get). Back to 64gs, u have to think about price Currently the 16g is $200 and 32g is $300. So how would they price it I'm shure they won't make 32g for $200 and 64g for $300. So it's guna be expensive if they even do it.

I couldn't care less about the iPod Touch. I want 64 GB or more on my next iPhone, simple as that. It can be done, that's for sure and it's up to Apple engineers to sort it out if they want it there. But from what I've seen, it looks like Apple likes to double the iPhone capacity with every new model they introduce.

Also I won't be starting a thread complaining that there's no 64 GB iPhone with the next iPhone refresh but I surely will post in one if they keep it at 32 GB with the same price it's at now.

I could actually use all that space and if I want to fit all my music on a 64GB phone (still not enough) why not? The previous model was 32GB and 64 is a logical progression. Some of us keep the phone for 2 years or more and when Apple doesn't allow us to upgrade the memory, it is not unreasonable to expect them to keep with the times.

There won't be a 64gb one because while a 64gb chip exists it's still extremely expensive, that's why the high end iPad with 2 memory spots only has 64. Next year we will probably see it, more storwged can always be used for something, it has nothing to do with if apple adds a cloud streaming service.

I agree that cost will most likely be the reason why we don't see 64GB.

clearly the concept of not having enough space to fit the 64gb in doesn't seem to click, they would probably have to reduce the battery to fit the chip, yet you said you don't want the battery effected..... you cant have your cake and eat it

Dunno. It very well might stop me from upgrading at least. So I certainly hope they introduce a 64 GB version. :)

Guess I don't see the need to have 64GB of audio/video/Photos/Apps with me at all times, 32 seems to be more than enough.....for me atleast

If Apple doesn't add a 64 GB model, then for me they have to make sure the prices come down. No way a 32 GB model with the smaller screen size can stay at today's prices.

It's not a smaller screen. It just looks smaller. Nothing has been CONFIRMED yet anyways. So no need to start spreading stuff that may not be true.

I have only like 2gb of music, I have never gotten why people have 30+ gigs of music.

Same here. I love music but I really don't want or need that much on my iPhone. Even if it's capable. I could never listen to all of that anyways. Then again, it seems lots of people want that feature. I have a ton of movies. I can understand the need for more space with that. They require more period.

To each their own. I think people need to be a little more - reasonable - and should probably stop EXPECTING certain things. Would like to see an example or two of phones that come with 64GB out the gate.

Do you know how much stuff can fit inside the new iPhone? Or how much would 64 GB require space? Have you been designing it? Do you know the sizes of all the other components? Do you know the prices Apple pays for the components? I would guess that "no" would be the answer to each of those questions, so it's completely laughable of you to say that they can't fit it there.

I never said it was an easy thing to put 64 GB in the new iPhone, but I am quite positive it's doable, without sacrificing any components. If Apple wants to put 64 GB in there, they will. If not, then they won't. Simple as that. Apple has engineers to sort out problems like these. If it were up to the fanboys, no improvement would ever be made and Apple would die a quick death as everything Apple puts out is perfect as it is or good enough that it shouldn't be improved according to them. Thank god that's not the case. I for one am never fully satisfied with anything! Everything can and should be improved, always.

And this is why you are not a designer. Not everything is possible without sacrifice. Too compete with newer phones, Apple probably had to shrink down the chassis. With the thinner chassis, they can't stack chips, so the only answer would be to extend the pcb which would require removing a portion of the battery.

So take your pick, here are your options "Mr Jobs"

Raise the price of the iPhone and use the expensive Toshiba 64GB module
Shorten the battery life
No 33% dimension reduction

Well, we'll see what happens, but I don't think that it's all that unlikely that the next top of the line iPhone will be 64 GB and will be about the same price as the current 32 GB one.

Who in the world would need a 64GB phone? I thought 32GB would be a sweet spot but I don't even fill it up anymore like I used to. Although I'm glad I got a 32GB, but probably could have been fine with 16GB.

I have a 32gb and have about 3gb free, I could easily fill it up but i choose not too. since my phone is JB i need to keep some free space because i download movies, music and files directly to my iPhone.

Actually they would.

When the 3G came out it was $200 for 8g and $300 for 16g. Then when the 3GS came out it was $200 for 16g and $300 for 32g. This pattern tells us the next iPhone should be $200 for 32g and $300 for 64g.

IF they even make a 64 Gb

Obviously, I have no clue whether a 64 G will be released this go round, but I could very easily fill the thing up were they to make it that big. It's nice to have the range of media available in one place instead of having to carry multiple devices. That's particularly the case when you travel a lot- every airport security screening is a pain with multiple devices. Hey, it's hard enough with just the iPhone & a laptop!:D

Unless the new iPhone has 1TB of memory in it I simply will NOT buy!

If its only 32gb then I calculate (stabs calculator hard and fast) that if the average 4 minute song is recorded at 164kbs there will only be enough music to play constant 24hrs a day for one month, and that simply is not long enough. Quite often I go out for a run that lasts over a month (ignoring the cruel children shouting "run Forrest run!")so obviously would want more memory otherwise I would have to listen to the songs repeating after the first month and what's the point of that? How tiresome.

And how can I enjoy an evening at home squinting at just 32 films back to back reduced to 1gb each with the clever dvd shrinking software?

So you man in black Jobs! listen! 1TB or you loose my custom, gedit? forget the battery, install a windy handle on the back or haven't you heard of kinetic energy der?!

Some people.

What, just because you don't need one that means we all should wait? Why should I have to choose what music goes on my iPhone? I don't want to carry around an iPod classic and an iPhone all the time. Of my 35GB music collection I don't want to have to find which 5 gigs I don't frequently listen to. Your opinion is ridiculous.

Your opinion is ridiculous. Do you really need to listen to that other 3 GB of music on your travel time 8 or 10 hours of the day? Sync about 20 or 25 GB and be done with it. You don't need all that music with you - you have the option have having Pandora, YouTube, all that streaming music with you. You have the internet in your pocket. Find the song if you don't have it with you. Jesus, people don't need 64 GB of music with them all the time. I used to be like this until I got the iPhone, I carried my classic filled up all the time - you just don't need it. You have the internet with you, get over it. Done ranting (partial drunk post).

Some people want more storage. Get over it. Sure, i cant listen to 20 gb of music in a week, but i want that selection to chose from if i want. You're arguing a moot point here: you're trying to dictate what peoples preferences should be even though they have reasons for why they think otherwise.

You don't go through phases with bands? Sometimes I go on weeks with 3 or 4 bands at a time. I don't need my 50GB of music with me all the time. Get over it.
