oh wow. a petition. it's really serious now.

You obviously don't fight for things that matter to you.

I for one don't like getting shafted. Yes, this happens in phones. No, you can't tell someone to try holding the phone different just for it to work. If it's this bad, there is an issue. And it's effecting mine, so I will fight for what I think is fair.

Spoke to them earlier this evening about the issue with signal loss, proximity sensor and my bluetooth. They are going to end up having to send me a new phone because of the bluetooth. It doesn't detect a single bluetooth item. I spoke to two senior service advisers and one seemed to think that it was an issue with software while the other felt it was hardware, same for the proximity sensor. He thought the bluetooth was faulty while she felt it was nothing more than a compatibility issue because of the new OS. She tested one there and it would only pair with other IP4's and IP's running the new OS. Mine refuses to pair with anything period. He felt the proximity sensor is software, she felt it was hardware, either way they will send me a new IP4 and are willing to wave the 29$ shipping but I do however have to allow them to put a hold on my CC for the new IP until mine gets to them. All in all it seems like they know the only fix right now for signal loss are bumpers. I think they are like 25 bucks or so, so if you haven't bought one and are having these problems you might wanna call.

My bluetooth is a HUGE improvement! People can actually hear me now when I talk in my car. I'm so glad I didn't listen to everyones issues and take it as every phone having them. My iphone works perfect. Sorry about your issues though.

Either will an online petition.

Seriously, when has an online petition work?

I'm not sure if its directly related to a petition, but when the iPhone 2G's dropped in price a mere few weeks after they came out, there was enough of a fit that Apple issued $100 credit to early adopters.

I don't know if a petition itself will get the job done, but it can certainly be part of the overall cause.

The best part is most people would have never noticed this "issue" (note that it's basically a non-issue) but of course there are morons all over the internet who blow this stuff out of proportion.

Either way I'm sure I can argue my way into a free bumper.

Sorry but this is a very serious issue. If you are a normal human and hold the phone like a normal human than you will encounter this problem. Seriously disappointed with Apple that they couldn't fix their reception issues after 3 damn generations of iPhones.

I do. Guess what? This doesn't matter to me.

Less than 24 hours and you've already made the conclusion that you've been shafted.

If you feel shafted, return the phone! Apple will pay more attention to that infinitely more than any silly petition.

I am a normal human being. I hold my phone in a normal way. I have even gripped my phone very awkwardly just to bridge the antenna and I cannot reproduce the issue and definitely have not encountered it in any regular use.

That's fine if it doesn't matter to you. But see, if it doesn't matter to you, why did you open this thread, and take the time to reply to begin with? I have this issue, along with the majority of others.

I'm glad you got a fully functioning phone though.

And if a petition won't do anything, what will? I'm not going to sit back and just let it be. At least I'm trying to make a point, and get this issue resolved. I love my iPhone besides this fact, and this is a rather BIG fact that can't be ignored.

Thnx, and glad to hear your phone is working well. Hopefully my new phone will resolve all the issues but thank God I have a 3gs to fall back on in the mean time.

When before have you seen Apple try and sell a case so hard with an iPhone?

Did I miss something? Other than about 30 seconds at the end of the keynote, when has Apple made any special mention of the bumpers at all? They aren't in any videos, they aren't featured prominently on the Apple web site anywhere, and they appear only on the bottom half of the main Apple Store page. I have seen no particular effort on Apple's part to get people to buy them.

Signed. Excellent idea.

I have the issue, so I sign with good reason. :)

You have my support, signed.

Why don't you guys return your phones then? If your phone doesn't work as a phone it's stupid to keep it. Apple will give you all of your money back.

that's very well but I have three iPhone 4s in front of me (mine and my parents) and all exhibit the same reproducible signal loss when the antennas are bridged. They always go down to 1 bar and on occasion, go into searching. If the antennas are not bridged, the problem doesn't occur. This is completely unacceptable. I really like Apple products as you can see in my sig, but I'm not going to defend them on this one. They screwed up big time.

P.S. I live in an area with excellent reception as the phones always show 4-5 bars when unbridged (as well as the 3GS that I had before this)

I understand what you mean. I shouldn't have worded it like that. But still, at least they took the time to announce bumpers instead of announcing there won't be any white iPhone's available at launch. Also the fact that Apple has never made a case for the iPhone before, why start now. If they are so worried about the metal being scratched, they sure never cared about the plastic back and aluminum iPod touch backs that scratch to hell easily.

Everything else about the phone is great. Keep in mind, it's called the iPhone. What good does it do if you can't even do the most basic task? Oh that's right we can, we just have to make sure we hold our phones a certain way. That's a great solution.

I know, right. Mac users are some of the biggest crybabies.

They're the worst. They'll buy a product, claim they have all sorts of issues with it and hate it, but they'll never return it. They just complain and complain until Steve Jobs gives them a gift card, a pair of headphones, or a case.
