Unlimited family text is 29.99

Dont forget to add mobile hotspot x2

There is still a price difference. I would suggest going and playing with EVO first, then making your mind up. For me (a family with 4 phones) the price difference is nothing, I think when we did all the math, it was almost identical, so that isn't a issue for me.

4G in Seattle is good, but definitely has it's holes. Really, the only thing that interests me is the 4G mobile hotspot. I could care less about the android.

I can't deal with the capped voice minutes. I use too many of them still. Call me old school, my business depends on me speaking to people in buildings with land lines.

Capped voice minutes? Sprint has unlimited mobile to any mobile The only calls that go against your cap are land lines.
You fail reading comprehension. And my post was all of 4 sentences. Scary to think what reading a book would do.

I would add one more point of comparison:

Likelihood of carrier being in business in 24 months:

i'm gonna go with...100% chance. what kind of statement was that? and by some crazy chance they do go out of business in 2 years, just buy a new phone for another carrier. i don't even know why i'm responding to such an idiotic statement with no intelligent supporting details.

I've tried Android TWICE and didn't like it both times. and in all the reviews I've seen the camera quality and video quality are NOT where they should be for an 8mp camera. The screen is big but the phone is a big too large for my tastes.

true, but the only issue with going that route is that you will not be able to port your number over to sprint. if you don't care about keeping your number then its a win win situation.

Of course you can port your number over. Then you can port it back if you want.

So when iPhone finally increases their screen size at some point, will it be of your "tastes" then? hahaha

seriously. i can't believe so many people complain about the 0.15 inch increase in width and 0.27 inch increase in height vs the iphone. most people would call a 6% increase in width and height unnoticeable. people are just looking for a reason to hate on the phone and they think "too big" is easy to complain about. good riddance.

The main problem I hear is the battery life sucks ass. People are saying like 3 hours of heavy usage and it's dead and less than 2 hours as a hotspot.

Please let me know how you've found the battery life.

For the 2 weeks the lowest battery life I have had was about 8 hours.

The highest... 14hours. Both time the battery was at about 10%...

THis is with wifi on(but not in use always) and 4g off.

Telling battery life without telling usage is not very helpful. I could turn my iphone on and not use it and have it last over 3 days. Could you give a rough estimate as to what kind of usage you had in both scenarios? For example, web browsing will drain the battery a lot faster then checking emails.

Ok my "average use" for last saturday Wifi is on all Day, 4g off. I had Sense on with calendar widget, bookmark widget, static wallpaper, weather widget.

Take it off the charger at about 730am
Check email, check engadget, twitter, facebook(approx 20mins)
Drove to LA while listening to pandora(about 90mins)
While In LA I needed directions to a place in Huntington Beach, used google navi(45mins)
I took a phone call at about 2pm for 20mins
While I was getting my car worked on, I needed something to do.. so I browsed the internet on 3g(30mins)
Throughout the day pop off about 100 text messages...
I got home at about 6pm my battery was at 30%...
More texting, some dropbox action..
Phone was at 8% by 10pm..

That seems like pretty good usage to me. I wonder how that would change with 4G on.

Yes I mean, obviously more widgets, live wall paper, constant wifi use with screen brightness 100% would yield about 3-4hours battery life.

Its all about how you use the phone and what you have running. When reviewer do there review I would expect them to have alot of things running.. they are trying to pop off a review ASAP... they dont (in general) spend alot of time getting into the OS and how you work it! Android is what you make of it.. if you want that control.. then go for it... if you dont.. go for the Iphone.

ALso might I add, is who isnt always next to a phone charger?! I mean I have one at work, home, in the car... if I need to charge the phone I do it.. I dont need it off the charger for 24 hours... or even 12 hours sometimes.. I dont understand why people are so worried about battery... its no blackberry... its on par with my nexus one and my previous 3GS, its good enough for the amount of sheer power in this thing...

uhmm, If i'm not mistaken, I think you were trying to make fun of his grammar when he said, "Apple are..." **He was correct**;)

I'm guessing you're from the UK? In the US the appropriate wording is "Apple is" because even though Apple has many employees, we still consider it one entity.

Okay. I'm an iphone fanboy. (which will test out the evo tommorrow) but I have to say....thats not bad at all. WTF is up with these people saying the battery life dies in 5 hours. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR PHONE?!

I love how people take one function and ride it to the ground. Pathetic and they should even own devices *SLAP*.

This is really promising. You did ALOT!!! 100 text messages even drains my iphone battery a bit as well.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a total Apple Fanbois. I've owned Mac since 1993. I even had the Newton and I bought Apple's first color screen PowerBook 540c for $5,000! on the day it came out.

That being said; today I tried out the Evo for about 20 minutes. Wow! Super wow! It's so fast. The screen is huge and bright.

I can't wait for tomorrow!

I am baffled also... I read these battery life things and I wonder if I have some sort of special battery... I am not kidding... my battery last ON AVERAGE 9 hours every day... I have to say im not glued to my phone everyday all day.. but I do use it and the FIRST day I had it my battery drained in about 5 hours... but I was on it like white on rice, on a paper plate, in a snow storm..

I conditioned my battery when I got it.. charged it too full, drain it until it went into standby, then charged it to full again. I did the same thing the next day...

I will say that with 4g it will probaly cut the battery in half... but I have that turned off
I also dont have bluetooth on... but I always leave wifi on and auto brightness.

LOL...what baffles me even more is how people are drooling over this phone when its a larger incredible.

"it's so fast!!!"....lol its the same snapdragon processor as the nexus one and the incredible with the same amount of ram.

It's 100% mental. The only thing thats really different is the screen and screens...aren't slow or fast...they are just screens...they display crap.

Has anyone said it is faster than the incredible or nexus then? It's a bit silly of them if they did.

Nexus with FroYo screams..... Unless you have flash.

(I jest) ;)

I held an Evo tonight at work, and was not impressed whatsoever. A flimsy plastic stand on the back? Really? It felt absolutely pathetic. The screen was so obnoxiously large that I'd classify it as the Jitterbug of smart phones. Not interested whatsoever.

They all say it screams and it's a beast and it's super powerful. Sure, those phrases can be applied to it having 4G, but I get the distinct impression people think it somehow has more processing power than the six month old Nexus One.
