there isn't a music syncing program for any android phone. You either have to drag and drop or come up with your own syncing solution. Yet another sign that Android has ways to go before it can really dent the iPhone.

Actually your wrong, DoubleTwist works just like itunes and has been around for a bit, works really well with droid phones, theres a sizable dent for you

Using DoubleTwist would be coming up with a syncing solution. It's not like DoubleTwist is a Google or HTC product.

either way who cares. its not hard to drag and drop or use doubletwist. plus i wont even be using my evo as an mp3 player. i have an ipod touch. although i will transfer my playlists onto my evo for times when i dont have my itouch.

I think you missed the part where I said you have to "come up with your own syncing solution". Doubletwist is not an official HTC or Android app. You might be satisfied, but the average Joe is going to have no idea about this app or what to do with it.

Unfortunately, Sprint sucks in our area. I had them before AT&T and I dropped calls constantly. I have friends still on Sprint and they miss calls and texts all the time because their phone goes in and out of service constantly.

I wish that weren't the case, because they're cheaper and I really want to give the Evo a try. What are the chances that AT&T will ever get a similar phone?

You're hilarious.

HTC Sense + Android WIPE THE FLOOR with the iPhone OS.

<3 my HTC Desire

I'm sorry- But you're the one that's the comedian here. I've tried Sense + Android and laugh at comments like yours. It's so false it's ridiculous!

Sense + Android SUCKS!

I happily returned the phone after using it for a while and picked my 3GS back up. Sorry, but Android needs much work.

I'm actually open-minded, thank you very much. Just because it has great specs, doesn't mean it's automatically better! Android pisses me off because it's not as universal as iPhone OS in terms of apps for it. The OS doesn't get updated the day a new release comes out, and sometimes never does... Not to mention it doesn't have multitouch.

The Android Market will likely eventually surpass the iTunes App Store for two reasons:

1 - More people are using Android phones than iPhones.
2 - You can do so much more on an Android phone. They're not anywhere near as locked down as an iPhone, meaning that developers have so much more room to innovate :)

If you buy a sim free Android then you should be able to get the update the day it comes out. Obviously if you're using a phone that has a GUI over it, like HTC Sense, then you will need to wait for that to be updated to use the new OS too.

Android has supported multitouch for a while now. If you're going to try and shoot it down, at least do your research.

i can tell you right now that the evo will be like all other android phones, fast and usable, but clumsy and unpolished. Many geeks don't care about presentation so they will definitely love the evo but if you're the type of person who prefers a nice consistent and smooth UI, you're going to want to stick with the iphone. It's the same reason we use OSX instead of Unix. They both share the same abilities in many ways, but OSX is infinitely more polished and user friendly. Leave android to the linux geeks.

The thought of using Linux makes me shudder, yet I love Android. To be fair, the Desire is my first Android phone and that has Sense on it, so perhaps it's Sense that I love and not Android itself.. but it all seems very easy to use to me, no more difficult than the iPhone ever was!

Apparently windows media player can sync with them. I'm sure other players will be able to as well.

Personally I painstakingly sorted all of my music into folders long ago, like this:

Music\Genre\Album\Disc 1\
Music\Genre\Album\Disc 2\

So for me, all I have to do is just copy/paste them to my SD card. Nothing could be easier :D

Who needs a syncing solution? Just copy/paste your tracks - anyone who has ever used a hard drive knows how to do that.

What part of my comment was false? I think you'll find every feature/benefit I posted are facts :)

When did you use it and have you used 2.1? The iPhone OS is not even in the same league as 2.1 imo. I guess it depends what your needs are, but I'd take openness over the closed system that is the iPhone any day.

If Android doesn't have something I want, I can rest in the knowledge that it's open enough for somebody to develop an app for it :) Somebody on here wanted something as simple as an app to tell them how many minutes they had used, but it wasn't possible because Apple doesn't have a phone API for that. Android doesn't have that problem.

Look at the FAN TAS TIC user experience ¡:

Seriously, Flash on a touchscreen phone is crap, no matter how ultra mega fast you processor is. My MBP struggles with flash and it has a Core2duo chip in it. And let's be honest a mobile chip is absolutely no match for a desktop CPU even if it runs at "1Ghz".

Yeah that's with a Droid.. the Evo runs a Snapdragon.

Everyone knows Flash on a Mac is dire. Doesn't mean smartphones suffer with the same problems. I have a flash lite-enabled smartphone in my hand playing videos on youtube and they're not choppy at all.

I think it's pointless to try to prove anything to those apple fanboys. Apple has blinded them so they will deny everything Android has to offer. Ignorant people complained Android is hard to learn.

I agree that it looks really great.
But 4G isn't available yet in the two places I spend most of my time: New York & Miami.
And while I am looking to escape from AT&T, I just can't leave my iPhone. I'd miss my apps too much ;)

ok, i don't really understand your point. If you see the video, it looks like it was an official Adobe booth where they were using the droid. And lets face it, it ran like crap. Not to mention, that flash was being run locally, not off the web! If crap experience is what is being officially sanctioned by these companies, then what the heck are you so excited about. Apple would never release this kind of garbage. Sure, they might not have the latest and fanciest tech, but at least you know what you're getting works like it's supposed to.

Did I say anything about flash? IMO, I would not turn on flash when I get my Evo. I will only turn it on when I need to.

BTW, I always tell my friend that I'm impressed with his 3GS, and I would get one if it's available to Sprint. However, I think the Incredible and Evo have surpassed the 3GS in features I would need. All the apps I need on Iphone are available for Android. There are some neat apps for Iphone but most of them are crap and repetitive.

Which ones? Half of them are probably available on android :D

Again, that's because the Droid isn't that good. Wait and see what happens when Flash 10.1 + Android 2.2 are running on phones with the Snapdragon processor (or better). I'm sure they will be much better than the little old Droid :D

My Desire isn't slow at doing anything so far, I'm sure Flash will be no different.

Well what I'm concerned about is that they actually demoed it on a Droid. It's kind of like Microsoft demoing Windows 7 on a Pentium 3, sure it might work but it would certainly run like crap. The fact that they are advertising Flash on the Droid and NOT WAITING for a more powerful phone shows that they don't care about user experience. They just want to put something out in the press so that they can say "oh yea, we have flash" even though the experience is poor. Sure, it might work better on a Snapdragon phone, but I have doubts about whether they will spend the adequate time to properly integrate it into the UI if they are satisfied with the quality of their software on the Droid.

Now, you may be wondering, what does any of this have to do with the Android OS itself. Well without proper control over what's going on, the user experience will certainly suffer. Sure, they can claim that "we have flash" and a number of other features. But if it's not implemented properly, it is surely going to be crappy.

I prefer a company that takes time and effort to make their user experience smooth, consistent, and reliable. As of date, I have yet to see one company which has done that except for Apple. Everyone else just wants to inflate their spec list without any concern for whether those features are working properly.

Crappy flash is better than no flash at all :D Plugins can be disabled in the OS, so if the performance isn't good enough for you, just turn it off, but it's there for people who want it.

They probably showed it on a Droid because of its popularity, but the Droid is a dated phone. The HD2/Desire/Incredible/Evo/Sony Xperia X10 are all a lot faster and should be a lot smoother running it than the Droid, so there's nothing to worry about :)

Seeing as how no one has actually used the EVO yet, how do you expect anyone to answer your question with anything other than pure speculation and conjecture?

Well let me rephrase this question:
Why is there so much hype about the EVO?

You do realize of course that any post about the EVO, including yours, is adding the "hype".

You claim to be open minded but in the same post you say that Android pisses you off? That's a pretty ignorant claim.

We will all know how well its puts up against the iphone and many other smartphones out there a few months after its out.
Untill then, spec listing and other stuff is a waste.

Not really. The other HTC phones (Desire, Incredible) are already better than the iPhone. The EVO is like the Incredible on steroids, so it's a safe bet it will make the iPhone look like nothing.

I dont understand why the incredible has more internal memory than the EVO does. If this is suppose to be the Creme de la creme of Android phones. Then what's with the lack of internal memory compared to the Incredible?
