No it wasn't. All I said was ppl are making crap up about the competitors phone because they don't want their Iphone being over shined. Apple needs this kind of competition to make us better phones. Come back hours later mod deletes post and others pro EVO post.

It was something along those lines.

That totally explains all the other pro EVO posts and why they haven't been deleted.

You called people ****ing liars and did nothing to prove them wrong.

I got the Evo yesterday and its amazing, best phone I have ever owned. I am an Apple guy but I despise AT&T and will never understand why Apple, who is usually such an innovative company makes such a bad phone. To address some issues....

Battery life...You cant tell anything from one day of use. You need to cycle thru a battery 3-4 times before it gets going. I have an extended battery already been thru that in my Evo and the battery life is pretty darn good for a smart phone with a giant display. Unlike the iPhone, you can swap in a bigger battery :)

Music player...Google is already in the works to bring an iTunes like player of its own out. I couldnt care less personally. I dont use my phone to listen to music.

I too was disappointed. I almost bought one without even trying it. Thank god I didn't. The device was laggy and the apps kept crashing. Both sprint TV and Google earth would crash. And im in an area blanketed with 4G yet the phone could barely get one bar..big deal killer for me. Looking forward to monday, I hope to not be disappointed.

Can anyone report on the battery life from the stock battery?

Already been talked about and as I just said, these people's reports arent going to be accurate because they havent gone thru 3-4 recycles yet. I have with mine since I am using an extended battery (1800mah) from my Hero. Battery life is about as expected from a smart phone with a huge display. 4-6 hours with moderate to heavy use 8+ with light use.

I'm actually hating the HTC sense UI, I wish we had the option to use just the plain android operating system. I think it looks better anyways, simple and clean.

So I'm guessing there is no way to get my pipeline character unless I somehow root it and get froyo.

Try this and see if it works: http://www.buildcontext.com/blog/20...senseui-htc-evo-4g-incredible-android-phones/

If not, install one of the alternative launchers like Launcher Pro or Helix launcher 2 to see if you like them.

They're both available on the Market.;)

Looked at it today. The deal breaker for me was having to play 10 per month for 4g when I won't even have 4g in my area for "at least a year and a half"

$10 fee/month is NOT for 4G, but for the unlimited data. Without the $10 data fee, your 3G would be capped at 5GB per month.

totally agree with this, the ability to use the 4G network is the essence of the phone. (though the hardware aint bad either) :D

I plan on getting the next iphone but if 4G comes to my area I might just be tempted to switch..but I expect ATT willl bring out 4G in...2011?

ATT is not moving to 4G. They will be bridging to LTE.

The forced $10 is for "premium data", in other words 4G
Customers will be charged a mandatory $10 add-on fee for accessing Clearwire's (NASDAQ:CLWR) mobile WiMAX network

Seriously. People too poor to afford an extra $10 a month shouldnt even be on a real plan, get a Cricket and stop crying already :)

I agree if they $10 is a deal breaker you have bigger issues...

Imagine this board if AT&T had an additional mandatory $10 charge for iPhone. This board would be blowing up.....Sprit does it and its no biggie. Kind of funny

Not to mention, most people here own a Mac, as do I. Lets be honest, we are essentially paying double for the OS and brand name, its the exact same hardware as a PC. You are really going to gripe over an extra $10?

I have owned almost ALL Smartphones from sprint in the past, blackberries, pocket pc's and on androids the moment and hero, even the palm pre overclocked. I also owned the iphone 3GS wich killed all of the phones mentioned before until now.

I have the EVO since yesterday 9:30am, and I have been using it a lot, battery life is very good, I have been non stop using the phone. I havent HAD ANY CRASHES ON ANY APP so far, I rooted the phone today and installed custom roms and I must say on the stock form is much faster than the 3G but with the custom rom is way faster Android 2.2.

I love the iphone 3GS because of the simplicity of the OS, but almost all the apps that I had on my iphone, I have them on the EVO and they run much better, (ebay, paypal, google earth, google maps, tmz, enews, facebook, square,ap mobile, bank of america, pandora etc etc.)

Transferings songs and videos is very easy , just plug the phone into the USB and transfer the music or videos to the SD card and that's it. You can rename, erase and do whatever you want with music or videos, you can download any program even if its for PC you can downloaded to the SD card.

Live wallpapers are awesome, I can have more than 10 programs running on the background and still have excellent speed.

The only thing I miss about the the iphone 3GS is SAFARI wich for me is easier to use and the way the iphone do COPY / PASTE. other than that BYE BYE IPHONE 3GS.

I was thinking about getting the iPhone 4G but ATT sucks (prices, service and they dont have 4G, and now with the NON-Unlimited plans, they suck more and more)

Did I said the screen is HUGEEEE compared to my itouch. (I just sold my 3GS so I cant do speed comparisons) YOUTUBE VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5SMEEG0kuk

the lag everyone is complaining about isn't lag. Android scrolls at a lower framerate so of course when compared to an iphone it will seem jerky or less responsive. An android device with 2.1 and nexus one level hardware is faster than an iphone at everything else.

I have watched a lot of YouTube videos that were made comparing the browser speed of the iPhone 3GS with different Android devices, and the iPhone was usually a few seconds ahead.

Just got the phone, my only problem is that I can't type the pipeline character in. I heard this is an HTC problem and not necessarily an Android problem. BTW, the pipeline character "|" is the one above the backslash character on a regular keyboard.

I really need this character.

This is a problem with the HTC IME keyboard. If you really need that character i would suggest a different keyboard like 'better keyboard'. Unfortunately the HTC keyboard is probably the best tap keyboard you will try. IMO it is much better than the stock one. If you can do without a tap keyboard, I would suggest swype. You should be able to find a version with a quick google search as its not in the market. I just checked and it definitely has this character.

EDIT:Just found some colorful swype keyboards real quick

O and for the people that dont like the sense launcher, LauncherPro is awesome.

I couldnt care less what some youtube video says. I own both devices and the vast majority of time my nexus one is faster at opening webpages.

The only things that iphone has a clear advantage over a nexus one level device is the app store and teh OS is slightly more polished - eg: animations and pages scroll smoother, more accurate touchscreen. take away those 2 things and android 2.2 kills iphone OS in terms of features and functionality.

Well, we'll just see about this once the new iPhone 4G is released. I have a feeling it is going to blow Android right out of the water. ;)

Monday will be interesting indeed. If I wanted an Evo (which I don't) i wouldn't buy one till after Mondays annoucement. But I guess they have a 30 day return I think.

Damn, I want. :D But without 4G (not till fall in NYC) or Froyo I can't justify it otherwise, sigh.

Flushing and a few other spots have 4g already. I heard July for N.Y. The cell sites are practically there but are in "testing" therefore not on coverage maps. Check out the android forums or howard, you will be surprised how many locations are actually up.

So I read a few really great reviews for the Sprint EVO and I went to the sprint store with my girlfriend. I was very excited to get my hands on the phone everyone's been talking about. When I was explaining how good this phone was to my girlfriend, I explain many people are saying "it's better than the iphone".

Having us now both heard this, we were both really excited to see the capabilities of EVO.

We finally got to the store and took a look at it, and I really wasn't that impressed with it. One of the things that really impressed me with the iPhone was how fast and responsive the touch screen was and the EVO seemed laggy like alot of the other android phones. The home screen was nice, and spec wise it was a nice phone, especially the camera.
It left something to be desired, it didn't feel as snappy, smooth, or as simple as the iphone. It had everything else the iPhone had but I feel that what the iPhone has is more polished and quicker and therefore more efficient in my eyes.

My two cents. Maybe I didn't see the device as intended, but if anyone still wants to convince me this truly is better than the 3GS, please link an uber EVO video that makes me want to run out and buy it.

I couldn't disagree more.
I had an iPhone 3g and went to the HTC incredible. To me the speed change was astonishing.
Android is a much less controlled platform. Badly written applications can slow down the system. Perhaps an errant program was running in that phone.
In normal use, the incredible feels many times faster than my iPhone 3g and much faster than the iPhone 3gses I've used.
Android may have disadvantages and differences from iPhone, but slow is not the word to describe the incredible.

The EVO should be as fast since it has the same processor, although I have read a review that said it was slower than the Incredible.
