Enjoy it? :)

Seriously though, why is it always iPhone >=< Android? Why can't it be personal preference and what not? To each their own.

Because a lot of people constantly see the need to justify their purchase and re-justify it time and again - whether it be an iOS device or Android. Personally, I think they're both great systems. iOS may have a bit more polish but I also think that comes at the expense of not making it entirely user-customizable.

I was REALLY hoping I'd see something about the new iPhone that would make regret getting an EVO, but sadly...I didn't. I'm sticking with the EVO, I have come to love it. Android with HTC Sense is fun and visually pleasing as well. I like the new iPhone and without the EVO's existence I would happily get one as it is a good solid upgrade from my 3G but oh well. Maybe when it comes to Sprint some time.

You are right about that and I would be on whatever network allows the most flexibility. For me, I am on ATT because the people I talk to the most are on ATT so no minutes are used. Sure there are other options--for me--but this is the only option that allows them to not use any minutes. Fortunately, ATT is great here and has been great to wherever I have traveled--but your mileage may vary.

lol. have u even LOOKED at sprint's plans? their required plans for the EVO 4G have unlimited mobile-to-mobile on ANY network: this means you can have free minutes to all your AT&T peeps. :)

BJTC, have you used the 4g wimax in your area yet? For me, if I went to an EVO it'd be for 4g tethering. That would be awesome to run the laptop and iPad!:D

I keep forgetting middle / high school is out for the summer until I visit Macrumors.

i think it would be interesting to see the demography for the iphone. i really do think that the iphone community is much younger on average than android users. i just can't see 13 yr olds customizing android settings but i CAN see 13 yr old girls buying the iphone because it's apple and it's "chic." :D i will admit that the iphone 4 looks nicer on the backside (HOLLA!) the frontside of the EVO is beautiful. can't stand the single button anymore and the screen is perfect on the EVO. apple is sticking with it's row after row of apps and it's boring to me now. if the EVO runs smooth enough (after some tweaking and customization) i might buy and keep that bad boy! i USED to love my 3G but i can't stand the crappy AT&T coverage in FRICKIN' ORANGE COUNTY, CA! come on...

Curious about video editing capabilities. I wasn't aware Android had these, but I haven't been keeping up.

What kind of features does Android have that it does better? WiFi hotspot not included, but that's a really neat feature.

You are really going to edit a video on a tiny little 3.5 inch screen? Should be interesting :)

What does Android do better? Natively without jailbreaking, its not even a fair fight as iPhone OS is so archaic. I'll play along though. Multitasking. That right there would be enough for most anyone. Notification system with LED light, MMS, speech to text in any field (texts, emails, facebook updates) Google maps with voice prompted turn by turn directions, widgets, live wallpapers, file manager, full OS customization....you honestly want me to continue? I could do this all night pretty much :)

This just an unbelievable time for cell phones. Think about it..how many years did it take just to get a serious competitor to the iPhone! You probably can't go wrong either way...:D

Wow, what a troll. Welcome to ignore.

Could someone who has an EVO and previously had an iPhone address what copy/paste is like on the EVO and how it compares to the iPhone? I tried to figure it out at the Sprint store briefly on a demo unit, but found it rather complicated compared to the simplistic implementation of the iPhone (granted I didn't give it much time). I'd really like to know how it is in daily use for anyone that relies heavily on this feature. Thank you.

Quite easy on the Evo, just like the iPad. You long press on any text until the box pops up. You highlight a word and remove your finger. You then have green tabs on either side you can drag to copy sentences or paragraphs. You then have 3 options. First is to copy to clipboard. Second is the magnifying glass which gives you a definition and last is an option to share it via text, SMS etc...

Thanks for the quick reply. So, once copied to the clipboard, can you paste it in any text field on the phone or are there limitations to which apps will accept pasted text?

It's not as good. As far as I can tell, selecting text is a nightmare with the directional pads and i don't want a menu to come up like that. I like the iphone's integration 10x better.

Android's copy and paste makes me not want to copy and paste...is that a better way to put it.

Yes, you can then paste it anywhere, even a text message.

you can paste it anywhere.... copy and paste is limited on the evo, you cant copy sms messages. Copy and Paste on the iphone is so much more smooth.

Thanks for the replies. I use copy paste religiously and its efficiency is hugely important, so I appreciate the feedback.

Yes you can. You just need to download Handcent or Chomp and use that as your messenger. Far better than the default one anyways. Gotta love the customization of Android :)

Has anyone used the the tethering capability with the 4g WiMax yet? I want to know if there is a speed benefit and how much faster it is over 3G.

thanks for the tip:) I'm so torn on what to do... go back to crApTT or stay with the evo.... sigh......

my contract ends early june and i was wondering which phone do you guys think will come out first. i really want the iphone but att is expensive. if i go with sprint i can pay 69.99 for everything. att would be like 115 per month. i like the way the iphones os works over driod, but the specs of the evo are amazing. so i think my deciding factor is going to be which one is available to me first. any ideas on when both of these are supposed to come out?

An interesting comparison between EVO, Incredible and iPhone 4.
:apple:

Way to sum it up in one post, jerk! ;)

Haha, people just find it more fun to argue.

It's not THAT bad, it just takes a little bit of time to get use to.

Also selecting text isn't too bad. I'll admit the arrow keys on the keyboard that replaces the trackball/optical mouse on most HTC phones are a little ill placed, but hopefully someone hacks the keyboard up.

Other than the copy and paste discussion, the majority of this thread has become extremely childish. Apparently people can't have a civil discussion. Everyone just has to exclaim that their phone is the "best" phone.

Grow up.

Sure looks fine in the demo, buy I thought you said there was nothing Android didn't do better.

But iOS 4 enables multitasking, no? iPhone also does MMS, though the hardware doesn't have a notification light and a free directions app is lacking. Live wallpapers is not something I find useful but I'll give that to you. However just because a phone has a feature doesn't mean the implementation is right, which is why the iPhone blew the other phones out of the water initially.

Fixed in reference to pretty much every phone/tech forum out there. :)
