Got these links from another forum, looks like Iphone isnt the only one with the magical "Backlight Illumination"

Also the Camera is capable of 720p @ 60FPS...

Any problems that people MAY SEE with the camera is probaly software related.

Yea, most people are reporting that the issue is that the default camera app compresses the video to crap.

Good news is that Google isn't going to reject a better camera app for "Duplicate functionality" :p Also, it can probably be fixed at the core level since it is open source after all.

In other words... The camera on the EVO is fine... It just needs a better app, which will happen.

That is what I thought from the jump, all software which thankfully can be fixed!

Wonder if one of the devs can get it working better on a custom ROM.

Proably. Since Sprint basically made the ROM for the EVO and are pushing the whole "record and upload right away via 4G!" they probably didn't want a bunch of uncompressed 720p video cloggin' up their intertoobz!

The devs over at XDA are pretty savvy. I doubt there'll be too long of a wait.

I doubt I'll use the video much anyway, but it'll be nice to have a bit higher quality considering I will likely be transferring it over USB or Wifi anyway. I mean, compress the heck out of it if you'd like for uploading over the cell network, but give me higher quality for when I have the bandwidth. :D

Huh, did they think nom one would notice that their HD video didn't look HD. Bums.

Has anyone used the the tethering capability with the 4g WiMax yet? I want to know if there is a speed benefit and how much faster it is over 3G.

I had it up and running yesterday in my office to try it out - we are getting intermittent 4G testing here in downtown LA and was running between 2.5-3.0 Mbs down on my MBP (1.0 Mbs up capped). This is clearly faster than anything I could get on AT&T 3G using MyWi.

The EVO hotspot is simple to use (although MyWi is just as simple on the iPhone) - the only issue I have had is that for some reason while I got great download speeds on my Macbook Pro and the phone itself, my Wifi iPad was seeing very slow speeds - not sure if there is some issue with the configuration of the Hotspot router or the iPad's wifi radio, but I could not get the same download throughput on my iPad - still trying to work on that.

And as a side note there is some great information in this thread - I would hope we can stop the name-calling and just discuss the comparisons between these two phones, which IMO are by far the 2 best phones on the market - I still have my iPhone 3GS and will probably pick up an iPhone 4 at some point (if for nothing else my wife since she likes her iPhone and it looks a little more girlie ;) ), but so far I'm digging the EVO and the options it has over the existing iOS - wasn't overly impressed by the keynote yesterday but am looking forward to seeing how the new iOS handles.

Not going to live with AT&T for 2 years, especially when there's a similarly spec'd phone on a cheaper and better network. Maybe next contract, Apple : /

I'm tired of fanboys period. Apple fanboys are way worst then Android fanboys; which the person who wrote that blog is (android fanboy). Just look under his name and he has Android Power under it. Android vs Iphone is just like PC vs MAC. If Apple wants the Iphone to be a power house they need to get it into more US carriers or face getting left behind by Android.

Mmm. Reviewing things I've never used. I just love it when people do that!

Btw, the Bugatti Veyron is terrible. Look at the gas mileage. 2 Seats? Stupid car. I won't even bother to drive it if I ever had the chance ;)

Well said!

"The problem, though, is that most of the iPhone's new features feel like incremental upgrades, not game-changing innovations. Put simply, the new iPhone is a step forward within Apple's world -- but outside of that walled garden, it's still worlds behind."

Wow, he quotes an October '09 article on how the Droid will take the #2 spot by 2012. How about something more current, fanboy?

This is so stupid.. its based on the person, someone may prefer the 4.3 inch screen others like a smaller phone, one person likes IOS's simplicity others like androids openness.

people need to grow up its a freaking phone. This is turning into the xbox 360 vs ps3 nonsense.

and the best statement from that article

Then there's the other important stuff the new iPhone is still lacking:

"• The ability to use your device the way you want -- not the way Steve Jobs thinks you should."

I Disagree with that way of thinking then no one would have came up with the wheel. No one would have developed UPC codes,RFID,App store, Notebook Computers.

Its impossible for someone to tell someone "What they want" because we all have free will. Therefore if a person buys the iphone and likes the app and the way it is setup that person decided to do it. Steve jobs didn't make them.

We all have freedoms. You have the freedom to decide to dislike the iphone. The same way someone has the freedom to like it. But you can't tell someone how to design their product. However you can make your own to counteract that and include the things that you want and don't want

Sadly, it looks like this thread has reached the point where it's no longer useful for information gathering as I had hoped. Like so many similar threads it has become one of, "My opinion is better than yours!" lol.
