I cannot believe people fight over their electronic purchases. There is nothing any of these phones do all that differently than the other one. Some features work better than others, and carrier experience is a non-starter. No two coverage areas are alike.

*laugh*

Welcome to the internet. Name a forum dedicated to a specific thing, you'll find fighting over that specific thing.

I dare you to go to a cat or dog forum and ask about which food is best or a car or motorcycle forum and ask which tires you should get.

That being said, this forum does seem to be dedicated specifically to bickering about what is the best electronic/way/whatnot. But that's what you get when you get a forum full of geeks ;) (disclaimer, I never said I wasn't a geek myself ;) ).

You can't be serious can you? You say that you don't have to hack or install additional apps and just before that you posted how you rooted and put Froyo on your phone? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I thought there was no hacking or installing additional things? Do you understand how stupid this makes you look?

Ahahahahaha, you're reading the specifications list off like it actually has something to do with the USER EXPERIENCE, which is why people buy phones. Definitely a true nerd (hey, I'm one too!).

Also, can you make a video of flash on the EVO? I am curious about it.

The things I listed, the Evo does WITHOUT rooting! I put Froyo on my phone for a few hours because I wanted to see if it was faster and I wanted to play with it, not because I needed it to do any of those things I listed. Yes, I will be making a video with flash running on the Evo. Says it has flash lite, but when you go to the Adobe site it says its running 10.1 its just not running the most current version yet but its run on every flash site I have been to.

Responses to my comments exploded a bit

I was really trying to just give a brief description of my use of the EVO, not trash it. It has impressive specs, but many, many, many features that I will NEVER USE. HDMI out, seriously? I have other media options that are much more robust than my mobile phone.

On the stuttering UI, if it floats your boat to have your OS have more features, cramming them in and causing the processor to deliver a less than smooth overall experience, then great. You'll love the EVO. I don't need Safari to stutter and reformat text. I need it to be smooth and clean. And, the overwhelming majority of users (commoners that don't chat on MR) want a simple, clean interface that is smooth and doesn't offer a ton of features that won't ever be used. That was one of the beautiful things about the original iPhone: It does the critical things great, and simply. It doesn't require a manual; it doesn't take a PhD to use. It also expanded capability of phones far beyond previously done and made them mainstream features.

Fast forward to today and now there are huge competitors to the iPhone that include great features and specs. But they also fall into the trap of usability (and lack thereof). Not that they aren't usable, or even fairly easy to figure out, but it is the little things like a smooth interface, hypersensitive and accurate touchscreen, intuitive features that the masses want that really make the difference and will be (in my opinion) what keeps the iPhone ahead of the competition.

I like quite a few things about android, but I don't have any desire to switch because the iPhone 3G fills all of my needs, and the iPhone 4 fills my needs and my wants for a faster overall experience.

EVO owners, please enjoy your phones. It is a beautiful device that I am sure will get better. It just isn't for me.

Some of us have lives and sorry i didn't read every single post and analyze or guess what people were saying...

I didn't ask you to read every post. But understanding that a 60 page thread would probably contain your very superficial points with limited analysis is probably a safe bet.

BS. I just made a video with my iPad and Evo including pinch/zooming and scrolling in the browser. The Evo did it BETTER than the iPad. Why? As I mentioned, the iPad/iPhone do not reformat text when you zoom in. So you have to scroll back and forth and up and down to read text. The Evo reformats it so you dont and there is no stuttering or jumping at all. Posting it up to Youtube in a few.

Lol....I smell something .... BS? As well as BO

um.... Seriously guy.... keep telling yourself that. LOL

Uh guy,

Seriously keep telling yourself otherwise. You have no proof it's coming in the next couple months and by then...im half way there. Do your research before saying " uhhhhh not true"

Half the problem with most people here. On the iPhone side AND the evo side. Your pros and cons have no backing and it's more of a preference like fruit.

And if people want to prove that the EVO is faster at scrolling on web pages over the iphone. PROVE IT. Show me. I'm carrying both the iphone 3GS and the EVO (one in both pockets and I constantly used task killer). I know for a fact its not smoother. So..show me by video, show me what i'm doing wrong. I wish i had another video camera and maybe i would show you.

Who ever said that EVO has better smoothing and scrolling that ipad. You are smoking crack. Seriously, CRACK!!!!

I have used both as well, and it's not even close. The iPad/iPhone wins by a landslide. And people can't blame it on Sense either, my stock 2.1 Nexus One has the same problems.

What's there to prove? evo opens web pages faster so of course it scrolls faster.

It may open faster but it definitely doesn't scroll better. It definitely doesn't pitch and zoom.

Pitch and zoom is a POS on the android. It choppier than my PIII trying run 1080p on this accelerated graphics card.

Like i said, prove that its better. It's more to a web page that just loading up, if you can't move display around, then its all pointless.

Every phone manufacture has its problems. Apple, Samsung, Sony, Nokia, etc. no different.

Indeed. Remember the early iPhone touchscreen strip failures? Or the dust under the screen. Or light leaks? Or white case cracking?

And now we're starting to see early reports of iPad bezels coming unglued or warping.

Nothing is perfect, alas. The best thing to do is act like adults: figure out a fix and move on.

Pinch and zoom and scrolling works great on my Evo, and there is no choppiness. I keep reading your posts wondering what it is you're seeing, cause I don't have those issues. Why don't you post a video of what you're seeing?

Because it's pretty much universally acknowledged. I have my N1 right next to me, 1ghz SnapDragon and all, and the scrolling and zooming is markedly less fluid than the iPhone 3GS.

Aside from being able to tell that the FPS is lower, the actual speed of zooming and scrolling is just as fast as my iPhone. It is just as responsive as my iPhone. And I've yet to see an example of anything other than what I'm seeing on my Evo. All of the video reviews I've watched look fine too. That is why I'm wondering what others are seeing.

When I'm talking about smoothness and fluidity, I am talking about the FPS. I think it makes a huge difference. I can scroll faster on my N1 since its inertial scrolling (or whatever it is when a harder flick makes it go really fast and far), but the iPhone, even with its older hardware, scrolls way smoother.

let us know when you actually own a even or touch one, because the **** that come out of you mouth is BS. First off the Evo does pinch to zoom. It's not even choppy at all. The Evo also formats the text to fit the whole screen so you don't have to scroll all over the place just to read.

Man, there's a video in the thread made by an Evo owner showing the choppiness, which is due to the reformatting of the text, but it is still choppy.

The Iphone does not scroll smoother. What you are seeing is the Iphone scrolling at a slower rate. I change my Home launcher on my EVO to "Launcher" and the scrolling moves slow just like the Iphone which makes it look smooth.

You all need to chill out. Most of these don't even care about the end user so I am not sure why most of you even defend the phones to begin with.

Get what you like and come to the realization that what YOU like, someone else may NOT.

A shocker I know. If you really want to end all the competition - whip out your dicks and be done with it.

that's not "choppiness" it's the Evo formatting the text. I can't believe you guys are trying to make something out of formatting of the text and calling it "choppiness".
