I'd like to know the answer to this, too especially considering I have the bluetooth headset dock that pairs the iPhone bluetooth headset. I haven't heard any word on a new dock for this headset or even if a new headset will be coming out.

You could always just modify your dock to work. Shave the plastic on the dock to make it fit the phone.
The Universal Dock works with the original iPhone. There is a message that pops up on the phone for 5 seconds, when you plug it in, saying that external audio won't be possible, but that's the only thing(no external audio) when using the original Universal dock. Syncing and charging is as normal. I'd imagine it would be the same with iPhone 3G.
I spoke to a women from apple today, and I asked about the dock, she said " the dock for the Iphone 3G should be available tomorrow on the online apple store".

I have the iPhone bluetooth headset -- and I LOVE the dock that comes with it, because it allows charging of both the iPhone and the headset.
If the new iPhone doesn't fit the bluetooth headset dock, I'm going to be yanked!

I want to use my universal dock (for the remote), but I don't want it to have problems. It's been great with my iPod Touch, no problems at all.
I take the audio out using a component video (& audio) cable - any reasons why this wouldn't work with the iPhone (3G) ?

I like the dock because it's handier and quicker to stick the iPhone into the dock rather than fiddling with plugging in the cable, and when I am ready to go somewhere, I quickly pluck my iPhone off the dock, slip it into its case and away we go...... I plan to buy one of the new 3G docks along with my new 3G iPhone tomorrow if they're available.

They will be on sale at apple stores soon i believe.
On the aussie apple website: $35 with $10 shipping for the iPhone 3g dock.
I want to buy the dock but are there any cases at all that will fit without having to remove the case before docking?
bought my 8gb black from o2 about 2 hours ago, wont fit in original iphone dock and o2 didnt have any in, very very annoying as i love the dock 
What's even more annoying is that the 3G won't fit in to the iPhone bluetooth headset cradle which is used to pair the two (you can do it manually but the cradle charged both the phone and the headset).
Does anyone know of a case that will also fit in the dock?
