[Merged] iPhone - White vs. Black (2010 / iPhone 4 Edition)

What do you like better? White or Black?

Considering White

I've always preferred the black iPhone but I saw the pictures of the white iPhone and it looks really appealing. One thing I noticed is that it seemed to have less finger prints. So anyone with a white iPhone right now, do you get less fingerprints on it and did you have any issues like the white one showing scratches more or getting dirty quicker?

Less fingerprints show. My previous 3GS was pristine for about a year with no damage or discoloration.
 
I had a white 3G, I think its classy and didn't show fingerprints at all unless in the direct sunlight...even though it BARELY showed them

With the black model, I know if you even touch the back it shows fingerprints like crazy. According to apple the new glass on the front and back is 30x stronger than the plastic currently used (or just plastic in general). So I am assuming scratches and stress cracks will be a thing of the past.

I am probably gonna go for white.....When I first saw the stock photos of the white one I thought it looked like a toy, after seeing engadget's photos, I've made my decision to get white....plus white will be different, not too many people will have one I'm sure. With the black back it looks SEXY, but it shows a lot of fingerprints...which for me, I keep the iPhone in its birthday suit so the color does make a difference.....I sort of wish they had the option of having a white back, and a black front. oh well, maybe next year around
 
I really am struggling with this decision, I know I will be satisfied with the black one, but that white one looks so cool. I just worry about the bezel being distracting when watching video. I really just can't decide which one to get, hopefully I will be able to decide by next tuesday.
 
I think I may go with the white one as well. My 3G was white, and then I went with black for the 3GS. I can tell you for sure the black shows scratches a lot easier, and the fingerprints go without saying. I never got my white iphone dirty, or my black one for that matter. I cleaned them both fairly regularly with iKlear.

I want to go back to white this time round. There has never been an iPhone with a white face, so I just want it. This way you get to see the color of the phone even if you do slap a case on the back. :D

I don't like the grill on the white tho. I hope when I reserve one at apple I don't have to choose a color so I can see in person which is better
 
Ok, here's a separate question. Say I buy the white iPhone 4 (which I will) and have it shipped to my house. I open it, have 2nd thoughts. Will I be able to go to the Apple Store and exchange it for a black one? (with a possible restocking fee of course)
 
I had the black 3g, and white 3gs, and am considering the white iPhone 4 because although the iPhone 4 black looks classy, I think the white looks better with the bumpers...

I don't wanna make the wrong decision and regret it. However it is JUST a color :|

But its glass so dirt wont really accumulate... furthermore, I had a black 3G and a white 3Gs, the white shows literally NO scratches at all... I had it for about 7 month completely naked and there was one small line on the apple logo that was noticeable and thats it. I really want the white one so fingerprints don't show on the back but I realllllly don't think I like the white front... IM SO CONFUSED :(

I like how the white shows the sensors though. Also, look at the bottom of this page:

The White looks so awesome in the bumpers :) I am undecided as well but leaning towards the white
 
Is the white the same white as the 3GS had? It looks like an off white in photos... But is it actually the same white as the old apple remotes and the white MacBook?

Was the turning brownish thing with the white 3GS a limited issue or widespread?

i was wondering that too. I am ordering a white one and hope I like it as much as I do in pictures
 
the only things i have agains the white one right now is that i have a feeling that the area between the glass and the steel will get dirt in it and that since it is white it will be noticeable. also that the white front could be distracting when watching a movie or looking at the screen
 
initially i was all for the black one, but after seeing videos of the white one it looks really nice... now i cant decide lol.. Reminds me of the old white PSP from japan.

One thing i remember about the 3g is that the white ones would turn yellow..i dont want that to happen to the new iphone.

Discreet rather? I haven't seen all the pics, but I was thinking the white would be less discreet than the black... especially with one of the bumper cases. When it comes to phones, or gadgets of any kind for that matter, I've never considered the "flashier" model, but I might just go white this time.
