WTH, if that's true you should be getting one by wendsday for sure. I'm no parcel expert but I did work in a UPS plant for about a year. If you are in NYC and that thing shipped on the 12th you should definitely be seeing that thing before the 19th. Unless all this shipping stuff that we are seeing is just a preliminary shipping procedure where they then just hold the thing at a closer outlet and wait for 1.5 days before they ship again. I don't know. What I do know is that I be going insane if I start to see a bunch of threads titled "got mine!" before the 19th and I haven't "got mine" yet.

I live in NYC and my experience with UPS is less than happy. Expect your iPhone to show up sometime before the end of the year!

I preordered my iPhone 3GS from apple.com on June 9th to do a store pickup. I received an email saying "Dear GEORGE,
Thanks for reserving your iPhone. You can come to the store you selected anytime on the day of your reservation. When you arrive, talk to a Concierge in an orange shirt. We'll help you complete your purchase, set up your phone, and get off to a great start. " It displayed the correct apple store I'm picking up at but no date to pick up the phone. Has anyone else done this or received anything from apple?

You didn't pre-order then, you reserved. I got a very similar message. Show up to your Apple store by 8am on Fri to pick it up, while supplies last.

Yes... I ordered on the 12th and my still says in progress.. give it about 24 hours it should update

At this point I don't think it's out of the question for some people to get them on Wed/Thurs who ordered them from Apple online.

I'm an upgrade as well. And on a family plan. And a premier account. I have too many things going against me at this point Still no tracking number for my to-AT&T-store order (ordered at about 6:00 pm on 6/9).

IIRC the 2G has a 3G SIM card. At any rate Apple and ATT know I'm upgrading from 2G so I assume they'll include a new SIM if I need one.

This reminds me -

I'm upgrading my wife's Sony Ericsson phone on our family plan, but intend to give her my 3G (obviously not eligible for upgrade) and use the 3GS with my 3G's SIM card. Am I overlooking any issue in assuming I can just swap SIM cards between the 3G and 3GS on this same family plan?

Once again I am getting a little concerned about whether I will receive mine on the 19th. What will really suck is the fact that I relaxed after I got the letter saying Apple made a mistake and that everyone would receive their phones on the 19th. I could have had Apple switch my shipping to standard...and then my phone would be shipping today like everyone else's....instead, I trusted Apple...I trusted the Apple customer service rep who said I would be better off with overnight shipping (this was before the letter was sent to everyone)....

And what would make it even worse if I dont receive it on the 19th is that I ordered it immediately after the Apple store re-opened after the keynote was finished.....while today I read that people who ordered their phones yesterday with standard shipping are getting emails saying their phones have shipped.

So Apple - I hope you are going to take care of the large number of people who, due to whatever reason, used overnight shipping. They need to receive their phones on the 19th too.

I ordered my iPhone 3s right after the keynote too. I called and got priority shipping. I also got the email confirming that I would get the phone on the 19th. So far, my order status says "not yet shipped". I'm pretty sure that it is because priority shipping will only need 2 days , so it will ship Wednesday. At least I hope so. But if anyone paid extra for shipping, I would get a refund!

If you add it the say you have the account active and it is more then a few days before the bill cycle date it will apply on the first bill don't worry. At worst the next bill... Think about it if you sign up and the next day the bill cycles yeah it may not show verizon is the same... Relax and take a deep breath LOL.

Why would it be retroactive... Someone could add it the day before and its there own damn fault they waited... Just add it the first day your active and you will be good to go. Add online through your work email or it may take 1 bill cycle. The 1-2 is just a form statement.

Yes, though I ordered on 6/9. I'm not concerned in the least. I fully expect that my phone won't physically ship out until 6/18, so I'm not concerned about what it shows for status until then.

I should also mention that I TRIED to order the phone through my premier account at work, but on June 8, they didn't even have the 3GS listed. Even when AT&T has advance notice that something is coming (like, I don't know, MMS?), they still aren't prepared.

I did the same thing, ordered on the 8th (3:30 EST) and realized I couldnt get the 3GS for the 199/299 so i upgraded the wifes 2g and shes going to be getting my 3g.

Just traded in the 2G yesterday for 270 bucks!

Ordered on the 8th and still says "Not yet shipped." But does say, "Ships: Delivers by June 19th".

I almost made the mistake of paying for express shipping but realized it said Delivers by June 19th even on the free shipping so figured I'd save the extra few bucks!

AT&T Pre-Orders Only: Shipping and Delivery

For those who haven't checked out the AT&T Facebook iPhone 3G S News Site. Looks like those who pre-ordered from AT&T before June 13th are in good hands despite it saying, "should" and not "will" arrive on June 19th.

I ordered 2 phones with free starndard shipping for upgrade on june 8 around 6pm pacific time. the orders are now still "not yet shipped" but the shipping method has changed to "priority". does it happen to anyone?

The fact that our orders are "shipping" means nothing in terms of when it will arrive. The best bet is the 19th as promised, at whatever time of day the UPS guy happens to drive by your address.

I suppose there is a chance a few people will get them on the 18th. But I'm sure the arrangement between Apple and UPS is to deliver all of these on the 19th. They are coming a LONG way from China, so UPS will have no problem using up all of the available time between now and the 19th to get them to us.

Also UPS would have no problem getting them to the regional warehouses early yet letting them sit there until the 19th. I've seen that many times with other items I've ordered from them where I paid for economy shipping. I'd watch the tracking info and see the item get all the way to my local shipping center very early, then sit idle there for several days until the promised day of delivery.

Apple may have given UPS some flexibility to ship a few on Thursday to manage the flow of things, but I wouldn't expect more than 10% of customers at most to get them early, and in most cases I think that would just be people out in the boonies who don't see a UPS truck every day.

So don't get your hopes up!

Ordered mine from Apple on the 8th at 4:30 EST, still no shipping notice and the online shipping status says shipping 19th with delivery the 24th. Although I got a follow-up email saying this was in error, why wouldn't they have been able to change this online status? Strange...

Sure wish I had a tracking number, since I'd ordered within minutes of the presentation ending.

Alright the ATT page just update and it says "Qty Backordered: 1" now... while its been saying it will ship on 6/15/09 all morning. I ordered the first hour it was available on the AT&T page too... wtf.

Yes, that is what I think of them too but it seems the "hackerdudes" over at iphone-dev have doubts that the GM seed is actually the final one...
