Still nothing for me. I placed my order the 11th and it quickly went into "Prepared to ship" but no tracking number yet.
I'm 100% sure that no single shipping company has the resources in China to transport the vast quantities of phones Apple needs to deliver ON the 19th. Each delivery company is limited to the number of flights they can make per day from China to the U.S. So it's quite plausible that even though Apple's main shipper is FedEx, they needed backup here. Apple has used UPS in the past when shipping volume necessitated it.
No tracking # yet for either of my 2 iPhones, but I did order it on Thursday so it was a bit behind others. It still says delivery by the 19th, though. Ordered through the apple store online.
The order process was annoying for 2 phones... I had to preorder them on separate orders. I'm sure because of that it'll be a nightmare working with AT&T on getting them configured, but at least i'll have the devices in hand on Friday (fingers crossed).

I am a pretty patient person. What gets my goose though is how people are going to walk in on the 19th, having no pre-order to speak of, and get a phone. Oh well
I thought about this morning whether I should try to cancel my order with AT&T and go through Apple, but I figure it is probably too late to get anything on or around the 19th with Apple with new orders. So looks like I just need to wait it out.
yeah i wouldnt even try and cancel bcuz i was going to do that too but at&t said they couldnt cancel until after the shipment comes in which means after its charged to your card and plus you would also be charged the 10% restocking fee for apple products.. too much crap to deal with and so i just stayed with ordering from at&t
That is what i was told..shipping on the 19th and we'll receive them on the 22nd. He did say however that they did expect some early this week, so who knows??

Thanks for reserving your iPhone. You can come to the store you selected anytime on the day of your reservation. When you arrive, talk to a Concierge in an orange shirt. We'll help you complete your purchase, set up your phone, and get off to a great start. " It displayed the correct apple store I'm picking up at but no date to pick up the phone. Has anyone else done this or received anything from apple?

im with you there. except i have my non-active tracking numbers from at&t already. when i pick up my iphones from the at&t store HOPEFULLY early this friday im setting up a new family plan for 3 iphones plus one non-iphone line. ill prolly be one of those holding the pre-order line up.. apologies in advance
Weird. My ship date didn't change on the Order Status page, but my rate plan now shows up where it didn't before. Definitely something going on.
I'm upgrading from the 2G as well. I ordered mine from Apple for shipment. Does anyone know if there will be a new sim card in it like the 2Gs were or do we swap it?

I'm porting from VZW, ordered via premier account but at a local ATT store on 6/12. My status only shows the iphone and freight (no SIM), both "in progress".
We were with the release of the iphone 3G. Nice to know things haven't changed. I ordered mine direct from Apple this time. Decided not to deal with the crap of AT&T and there random shipping process that they put us all through with the 3G release last year.

Ordered on the 8th right after the keynote. Called and got free overnight shipping and still nothing for me. Order on apple.com still says "order has not be shipped". Not too worried though, I'll give it til Thursday before I get worried if I still don't have a tracking number.
No, you'll be lucky if you get the "early upgrade" price of $399/$499. If you were completely upgrade eligible (paid 199/299) when you bought your 3G you should get it for the early upgrade price, but if you used the early upgrade price (paid 399/499) you'll have to pay the FULL price of $599/699.

Already hating AT&T: I'm lucky to have a corporate (or Premier) discount, but I just found out that the discount doesn't apply for the first two months or so of AT&T service -- not even retroactively. (It apparently takes them that long to verify one's eligibility for the discount.)

What will really suck is the fact that I relaxed after I got the letter saying Apple made a mistake and that everyone would receive their phones on the 19th. I could have had Apple switch my shipping to standard...and then my phone would be shipping today like everyone else's....instead, I trusted Apple...I trusted the Apple customer service rep who said I would be better off with overnight shipping (this was before the letter was sent to everyone)....
And what would make it even worse if I dont receive it on the 19th is that I ordered it immediately after the Apple store re-opened after the keynote was finished.....while today I read that people who ordered their phones yesterday with standard shipping are getting emails saying their phones have shipped.
So Apple - I hope you are going to take care of the large number of people who, due to whatever reason, used overnight shipping. They need to receive their phones on the 19th too.
