I don't understand why family plan people have to order from AT&T?

I am on a family plan and I have bought all 3 phones, 2g, 3g, 3GS, directly from Apple. And I am not even the main id on the account.

you don't. I'm on a family plan, not the main ID, and just ordered my 3GS yesterday from apple.com with no problems

I don't think they do. But ATT is local, Apple isn't. I'll give my business to the local store. Plus I feel buying from them will be easier getting my plans and FAN squared away than over the phone. Plus, I'll be getting my phone at 7 AM and not having to camp out.

I called UPS. Arrival before NOON tomorrow.
APPLE can only hold them back so long, they do have a business to run.
The 18th is great.
1 day early, is better than nothing!

Nobody is going to get them before Friday. I have a UPS preferred account and I just spoke to my service rep and Apple has a hold on all of these phones and they are going to all be delivered by 10:30AM on 6/19. It's not like they're scattered all over the country so that some UPS hubs might release them early. All of the home shipments are sitting on pallets in KY and won't go anywhere until tomorrow. Sometime tomorrow they will ship them out to the local hubs and they will be out for delivery on 6/19.

I will be shocked if anyone in the US gets it early. If anyone does it will probably be an inside job at an ATT store or a clueless ATT employee. But I can't believe that UPS will screw up and deliver any early. I'd love to be wrong though. That would be pretty cool for somebody.:D

Relax people. If you ordered the day of the keynote (like I did), and you're still at "Preparing for shipment" (like I am), it will probably stay that way until they ship it tomorrow for overnight delivery on Friday, the 19th, which is what they promised. No sense in calling Apple/UPS/AT&T/FedEx/Your Mom and complaining about not receiving something two full days before you were told you'd receive it.

Exactamundo!!!

NEW customers opening up family plans with more than one iphone and non-iphones would probably have an easier time ordering and activating from the at&t store... if i was buying a single iphone i would have gone straight to the apple store

Just an observation..

For us with phones that just left "check lap cock" in hong kong (chek lap kok)..

If you put "chek lap kok" into Maps on your iphone, it takes you to 5 or 6 points in New York City.. All around the 5th ave store.

Maybe it's more ironic b/c I'm in NY..

ohhhh Apple.. dont eff this up..

Ughh...I finally got my shipping notice very early this morning - but my e-mail from Apple says delivery by the 23rd?! WTF!?!?!

SERIOUSLY - WTF?!?

The 23rd?! Are you kidding me!?

I ordered from Apple Jun 9, 2009 at 04:15 PM PDT for home shipment. Transfering number from VZW. This is my first Apple product ever. Pretty odd considering all the other fun toys I need for survival. Finally got my "Prepared for Shipment" notice this morning. I'm very concerned that it will not get here by Friday. I called an Apple CSR, and she told me (take with grain of salt) that my phone would be shipping from somewhere within the US, and that is why I have no tracking number or any other shipping info yet. Shenanigans? (Sp?)

ordered 3 AM EST Sunday night, still says "prepp'd for shipment" should i be worried?

I ordered mine at 5 PM EST Sunday night and mine still says "Prepared for Shipment" so we're in the same boat. Hopefully the "Ships: Delivers by June 19th" is carved in stone and no matter what it will get here on June 19th. :D

Don't listen to that. Check the UPS tracker, that's what matters.

Actually cancelled AT&T home delivery order

This post is solely for venting purposes, not as a personal attack on anyone in this forum, but I'm more than disturbed that after I ordered my iPhone 3G S the day AFTER it was announced, i.e. 9th, around 5:00 PM, I had still NOT received a shipping notification.

So, TWO days before product launch, when I had placed the order ONE darn day after product announcement, AT&T would have the nerve to not only withdraw the funds for the phone from my bank account, but not deliver on time. After all, there were PLENTY of folks that pre-ordered many more days after product announcement and have ALREADY received tracking numbers.

I hate to say it, because I actually receive good service from AT&T, but it has become clear that the AT&T-Apple relationship is strained, not only from Phil Schiller's comments/jabs during the keynote, but also from all the other posts on MacRumors.

I am actually going to camp out at my nearest Apple store EARLY to get my hands on one and not have to wait days after AT&T ships my phone. Shame on you AT&T!

No offense but this seems like an overreaction.
