Hey here is another question. I see a lot of people have called UPS and have been told to expect delivery on the 19th by 10:30AM. How is it they are guaranteeing this time. My UPS person does not usually deliver till later in the day. Is it just because these people ordered expedited shipping or is that what Apple is doing with all the shipments. If the later is so, then UPS and Apple will be pulling of quite a shipping feat.

Just something else to think about while we all wait.

i'm in Chicago, ordered on the 11th from Apple, switched to "Prepared for Shipping" yesterday... nothing yet

I think if you have some kind of overnight shipping the carriers will guarantee a delivery date by a certain time. I've had some things shipped to me via DHL with overnight and both times got the shipments by lunchtime.

I doubt many people will be at this mall early in the morning, especially on a Friday. Last year I went to a pretty populated mall at 5:30-6PM and was out in under an hour, and I feel like there was more hype around the 3G than the 3GS.

Plus, there will be many, many fewer people at retail this time around. Last year, no one could pre-order or have it shipped to their house and seemingly every 2G owner wanted to upgrade (since they all got the lowest price). This year is way different.

That's weird, when did it change? If you ordered today I'd say that's probably normal because the Apple site no longer says "Delivers June 19th." I'd try to find out what's going on with the order.

I asked them what's going on, and they said it will be delivered on the 19th... here's hoping!

Yeah, I'm starting to think I should have went to the store. Mine is still saying "Delivers June 19th" so here's to still hoping.

Because thats the service that was selected for shipping. Your UPS guy, like it or not, will have to make an adjustment to get you your phone on time.

Ahh Good Luck! Hopefully we're all happy come Friday morning. :D I could probably live with Monday, just to have something to look forward to on a Monday but Friday would be MUCH better lol.

I think it's safe to say at this point that for all those who ordered in the first few days and still show as "prepared for shipment" that our phones are coming from a domestic warehouse. I'm guessing we will see a tracking number generated tonight or tomorrow morning for delivery by 10:30 Friday (usual UPS Next Day delivery time).

This is kind of unrelated to the thread, but do you guys really think there will be lines wrapping around blocks like the last two releases of the iPhone? I mean, I haven't even seen any advertisements for the 3G S, and I feel like it's mostly the Apple geeks ordering them. Input?

Please keep us posted! At this point it definitely isn't too late to receive them on Friday, even if they ship from Shanghai.

basically the lady was like this:

CSR: you heard they were shipping from china?
me: yes
CSR: where you hear this from?
me: not the official apple site but from forums with people posting tracking numbers and screenshots of their orders that have shipped
CSR: i've heard nothing of this
me: okay. my question is then, how is it going to get to me on time if it's shipping from china or is it from a domestic source? is my ship date still going to be june 19th?
CSR: if it says delivers by june 19, then yes. the prepared to ship status on your order status means it's boxed up and ready to go. status should change sometime between now and tomorrow
me: so i will get it june 19th?
CSR: yes

...she avoided the location of shipment haha..but from recent posts i've read..i think we're all going to be set on june 19th.

I ordered overnight delivery when I ordered a few minutues after the key note. My friend ordered at the same time but did not order over night. Mine is in kentucky and his is 'ready for shipment' - I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

okay so if there is another batch of iphones on a plane from hong kong right now..i'm going to guess that all other iphones that have the status "prepared for shipping" are coming from domestic hubs..unless there's another plane going out of hong kong tonight or early tomorrow morning...

There's enough time for one more trip, but it may be close. UPS Flight 63 leaves Hong Kong at about 7:00 a.m. Central Time and arrives in Louisville, KY at about midnight Central Time. That is barely enough time to get it delivered to the UPS delivery hubs for delivery on the morning route, but it is possible.

Alternatively, I guess they could ship them out of Pudong (Shanghi) on a different flight. UPS Flight 81 flies to Louisville too.

yep

Has anyone on the East coast had theirs shipped?

I'm in NYC and here is what I got so far. I ordered on the 9th 11PM EST.

I would love it if it came by 10:30!!!! (otherwise I have to arrange to have someone else here). I typically don't get ups deliveries until later too.

Did anyone do the link to "pre-sign?" Just wondered how that worked.

10:30am is their commitment time. They have to deliver it before 10:30 if that's the service that was selected. Basically the UPS guy delivers all the expensive priced shipping service first, then second most expensive service etc. That's why sometimes you'll see the same UPS guy drive by your house several times in a day.

That is very reassuring. I'm in pretty much the same situation as you. Excellent. When I called AT&T the lady didn't seem to know much and just insisted it ships on the 19th. Nice, though.

Woo.

I hope this is the case b/c when I talked to the Premier Customer Service girl, she wasn't sure if it my order (which I had scheduled to ship overnight) will ship out tomorrow or Friday? One would think that paying extra to have a the phone shipped overnight, would mean getting a 3GS before those who ordered from an AT&T store or Apple just this week!?! I'm gonna be pissed if I have to wait until Monday to get my phone. I was told that they don't do overnight Saturday deliveries, so it would be Monday if they do go out Friday. Keep your fingers crossed.

Just to clarify, when you say "the service that was selected" you mean that Apple selected? Because I did not request any special delivery like overnight, etc.

I dunno about that. The UPS guy will be going off what it says on the label though I'd assume.
