Oh man, if that is true, this place will be insane by Wednesday!!

This reminds me of when I commonly preorder video games from amazon. I have Amazon Prime and get guaranteed release date delivery. The most recent one was Killzone 2. I preordered about a month before the game came out. There were people freaking out because they preordered it like a year before it came out and it was 2 nights before it came out and it hadn't shipped whereas there were people who ordered only a week prior to the game being released and they had received tracking numbers via email. The boards over on amazon were hysteria with people cursing Amazon and the shipping providers.

Low and behold, release day came and everyone had their game safely in hand. Believe it or not....companies such as Apple and Amazon have been around and know what they're doing (most times) and shipping companies such as UPS know how to ship items. There are many factors that go into this such as proximity to the distribution center, travel time, etc. But if your order status says "Delivered by June 19th." Chances are, baring a giant catastrophe, you will receive your little plastic device. A week from now you will forget all about your worrying and just be enjoying your $200 piece of plastic.

mine just shipped. ordered at 1pm after the keynote and it didnt ship today like everyone else.

finally just shipped. white 16gb to the west (best) coast

Refreshing status page every three minutes

I ordered at the Apple Online Store on the 8th at 10:26 PM PDT. The status changed to "Prepared for Shipment" yesterday. It remains there. But I'm not worried. My MacBook shipped from China on October 18. I received it October 20th at 10:30 AM (FedEx).

It's fun to be in the company of so many other obsessives.:D

This gadget is worthy of such attention.:apple:

I'm freaking out!!! I ordered from AT&T and I still haven't gotten a tracking number and it seems everyone else that ordered from At&T has a tracking number.

I ordered mine the 10th at 5am.

Imagine how many phones they can fit on one of those cargo ships?!?! That boat better have clear sailing.

Heh.. they're not shipping by boat. It's about 7200 miles from Hong Kong (Shenzhen is right outside Hong Kong) to the port of Los Angeles. Ships travel about 20kts, so the trip would takes over 2 weeks!

Just adding my part to the hysteria

but think of a ship full of iPhones like the crabs on Deadliest Catch! That's a boat the pirates would want!

I pre-ordered last week and haven't received any shipping information either... but my bank account shows I've been billed... lol

19th?

Ordered from Apple Online, Sun. the 14th at about 8pm.
Received order confirmation today, the 15th.
No word on shipment or status changes like other users.
(ie Standard Shipping -> Priority Shipping, etc)
Is there any reassurance out there for a 19th deliver?
My ships line says, "Ships: Deliver by June 19th"
I hope so!!!!!!!! First iPhone ever mind you, a little excited.

I ordered a 32GB and a 16GB at two different Apple EPP stores on the ninth. Got a notice - the 16GB ships today with a delivery estimate of 6/22. WTF? Apple promised the 19th when I ordered it. I'm sure the 32GB will follow with an equally unimpressive delivery date. It used to say "Delivered 6/19." That was when I spent all that money. Ah, those were the days.

In other news, I ordered a new 13" MBP a few hours ago and I'll probably see it tomorrow. Standard shipping.

My UPS tracking shows a schedule delivery of 6/18/2009!

Edit: Now it apparently shows a rescheduled delivery of 06/16/2009 too! Sounds too good to be true.

NICE! btw is yours shipped to your house? or store? i have ups tracking for both of my orders.. but not showing in UPS website when i enter the tracking #'s btw, im not worried about anything.. just EXCITED! :D

I'm 100% sure that no single shipping company has the resources in China to transport the vast quantities of phones Apple needs to deliver ON the 19th. Each delivery company is limited to the number of flights they can make per day from China to the U.S. So it's quite plausible that even though Apple's main shipper is FedEx, they needed backup here. Apple has used UPS in the past when shipping volume necessitated it.

And I'm 100% sure that they could fit hundreds of thousands of iPhones on a single 747. Even the 3G with the larger packaging, it was still something like 20 per box And the packaging on the 3GS is 20% or 25% smaller, so think how many of those boxes could fit on a 747. If they can fit 250 people, they can fit at least 5x that many boxes just by stacking them 5 high in each seat. Obviously they don't use passenger planes -- they use hollowed out cargo planes with way more space -- but I'm just trying to give some sense of scale here. The iPhone is orders of magnitude < 747. Yes, the companies have other cargo to ship, but I highly doubt they're exceeding the capacity of any given shipper here.

Now let's just hope none of the planes crash!!

I just called UPS and I was told that as of now, assuming the package clears customs, it is due to arrive on my doorstep tomorrow.

Alright, just checked my status and it says that it was shipped and I should get it the 18th.

As said before, I ordered from Apple on the 11th (Thursday) at noon.
