that's what ALOT of peoples says! but remember, China is about 12 hours ahead of us. So for instance, mine shipped out at 1:30AM on the 16th which would be 1:30 PM on the 15th here in Chicago. 2 Day delivery by air is plausible. and I bet that's how Apple would do it (by Air) to have them all arrive within a few days of each other
 
Is there going to be a meltdown now if people have to wait until the 19th to get their phone? :) Some appear near meltdown at just the lack of progress in their order.

Nope. That line does not display on my UPS view. I even registered with the site for more details, but nothing.

I did order a nano for daughter in April and it took 3 days (from the pick-up date) from SHENZHEN, CN to New Jersey. However, Apple used FedEx for that one.

:eek: Hold on.... I just click the UPS tracking # from Apple and it now has a delivery date. And it is JUNE 17th!

p.s. The :apple: order status site has a section to pre-sign for the iPhone (or UPS wont leave it at your door if you are in the basement drinking).

They knew if they tried to ship everyone's iphone to get an exact ship date of the 19th, many people would get it the following week for various reasons, either UPS/FedEx fault, regional differences, no one home...etc.

Friday is still a great public release day for various reasons, despite being close to the "won't ship until Monday" cutoff.

The best thing they could do would be to get the early preordering people's phones by the 17th with a two day cushion. This way ensuring as many happy preordering customers as possible.

This is why they are also releasing 3.0 update on the 17th because this begins the "three day safety window".

They are not going to just hold our iphones in our local UPS/FedEx facilities. They will be sending them out between the 17th-19th to make sure the preorders do not get held up until the following week.:)

Apple does not have the power to make sure everything ships exactly on the 19th. I don't work for Apple, but I know they don't care if we get their phones on the 17th. They just want us to have them between the 17th-19th. They don't lose anything if we get them on the 17th, we just contribute to the hype with all the YouTube videos and buzz. Watch this all unfold tomorrow.

Yup, I ordered on 8th evenning and mine is still Not yet shipped. But the shipping method changed from "Standard" to "Priority" automatically. It still says "delivers by 19th". Weird...
 
I just got my shipment notification!...but something's wrong

I woke up this morning and checked my email and bam! there it was, my shipment notification and tracking number. But as i kept reading my enthusiasm left as i saw.... "Delivers by: June 22, 2009". As you can imagine I had the oft-used sudden record scratch in my head.

Truly dissapointing, but i clicked the tracking number and i got something way different:

Which should I believe???
 
I ordered on the 8th just after the WWDC ended.
only this morning has the status changed to shipped.
HOWEVER, I do have a scheduled delivery date of the 18th....:D

I ordered mine on june 8th at 2:10 from apple. I got the tracking number last night around midnight and the delivery date says 6/18/09. I don't know if I believe that but it sure would be nice...

When I ordered my 3G, that is what happened. My current UPS status says that it has an updated delivery date of 16 June but it just shows its UPS origin scan on 16 June. They can do miracles if they can ship it form China to my door in less that 24 hours. I don't believe anyone will get their 3GS until Friday.

I ordered an iPod Touch as a gift in April and it went from Kunshan China --> Anchorage Alaska --> Indianapolis Indiana --> my door in around 22 hours.

Waiting for my first iphone. I ordered through apple yesterday and the status is not yet delivered. Can't wait to be playing with my new toy over the weekend.

has anyone else ordered from att, I ordered on the 9th around 10am, still no tracking number, just my order number that brings me to a page that says "in progress"
 
Your package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 06/17/2009.

As of this morning, both my black 32gb and my white 32gb are "on time with a scheduled delivery date of 06/17/2009."

I expect they'll be held til Friday too, but depending upon how they're being sorted (I'd guess the containers are sorted by zip, and there's GOT to be a few full containers coming to Chicago), it wouldn't be miraculous for something to arrive from China in a day...it's only a 15 hour flight.
 
btw.... people getting all mad at AT&T.
There are valid reasons, however, everytime i went to the AT&T website the delivery said something like "as early as the 19th". It did not say you would get the phone by the 19th, it said you would get the phone on the 19th or later.
This is why i used apple.com to order, because their site said ON JUNE 19, period.
And as far as the backorder, AT&T has no control over the # of devices apple gives them for allotment. There are multiple articles on the web right now about those allotments at AT&T & other stores being backordered, but apple.com still has (atleast they did last i check) inventory to ship.

Anyway... i dont think you can blame AT&T for not shipping or not getting it to anyone by the 19th because their ordering site has always shown (atleast since the 10th) that the device would ship with the earliest arrival of the 19th, which means it could come then, or after.

I dont work for ATT Wireless, just stating why i chose apple.com to order from. I do hope all of you get your toys this week!!!!

Same with me...except mine says "delivers by 22nd"...that sucks. Just keep my fingers crossed I guess...:cool:
 
I ordered a black 16gb from my local ATT store mid-day on 6/11. My status updated from "In Progress" to "Shipped" at some point last night. The tracking number is still not active in UPS' system.

The only concern I have is that my order status only has the "FREIGHT" line. No entry for the phone itself. :confused:

You should believe the UPS one. Mine is the same way but it says delivery by the 17th! The apple email is just a general email and the 22nd is a 'cover your ass' date. UPS is the one with your iPhone, they know what time you'll get it.
 
Well, I ordered mine from the Apple website on the 9th and my order status still reads "Not Yet Shipped".

I'm not too concerned about it though....well, maybe a little....maybe I should call.

Anyone else order this early from the Apple site with "Not Yet Shipped" still showing?
