dont forget items from china still have to clear customs in anchorage, AK, then to the sort facility near you city, then to your local hub then to you door and depending on when it arrives in anchorage it could be delayed by a day or 2.

The same thing happened to me ... ordered on the 8th and still NOT shipped :( ... TOTAL BS !

I also called and they said that I will get it on the 19th ... but I want it like tomorrow like half of the people on this forum

I just spoke to Apple with the same issue. I ordered mine just after the keynote from the Apple website. I was told that some orders are showing as shipped already because they're coming from "far away." Other orders, like mine, will show a later shipping date because they're coming from "closer." I pressed him on that and he told me that some orders are shipping from China and some are coming from within the US. Specifically, for me, from Georgia. Figure that one out.

At any rate, he said that although mine has not yet shipped, it will ship from "closer" and be in my hands on Friday.

I was told by an AT&T store that I could wait in line like a fool even though I preordered and get one of the first come first serve iPhones (but should be for preordered people). Then when "my iPhone" arrives cancel the preorder.

Still makes no sense that the normal stock of phones goes to people standing in line when I took the time to preorder, even if I did preorder on the 13th.

However, there are probably several planes involved and they're going to one or two UPS central distribution hubs. As I recall, FedEx sends all their shipments to Atlanta for redistribution across the country. I don't know how UPS handles the logistics.

fedex has 2 customs locations anchorage, AK and Memphis, TN. All shipments from intl have to still clear US Customs. If the plane arrives after 11pm local time it will sit until the next evening before customs process's the release. I get allot of stuff from china and there is always a chance for customs delay's

Same status here.. except ordered on the 9th and delivering to Philadelphia. Apple rep told me this morning that everything with my order is OK and I will have it by Friday via FedEx. I'm content with that. Already queued up 40+ apps and bought the accouterment. :)
 
finally. I ordered mine about 20 minutes after the keynote and mine just went to Prepared for Shipment.
 
Black 32GB ordered on the tenth and scheduled to be with me on Thurs 18th here on the best (west) coast in Cali :)
