That usually means that it's ready to go but hasn't gone through UPS' facilities yet. You'll be ok, I'm sure.

Does your UPS Tracking page have a Departure scan from Alaska? Mine still doesn't.

And caligurl I'm sure your iphone will be leaning up against my iphone for the remainder of the flight.

nope..... just the arrival scan!

Lucky. :p

I hope I get my tracking number soon. I really hope I get my phone Friday/the weekend. :(

I'm laughing at you people who are saying that Apple is a tiny little company that UPS could give a damn about. You seem to forget that Apple is the customer in this scenario. When they gave UPS a massive amount of money to ship out their products, that money most likely came with a contract, and somewhere in that contract there is verbage about release dates.

There is precedence for this to. Books, games, movies, etc. It's not the first time and won't be the last time something sits in a shipper's warehouse for a few days before it goes to its intended destination. I guarantee it's something that FedEx, UPS, DHL etc. deal with constantly. And they are glad to oblige because little ol' insignificant Apple is a constant revenue stream that they'd rather not see go away.

I live in kentucky ordered it on the 13th but no tracking info. is it possible one of the iphones on that plane landing in kentucky could be mine even though no tracking info showing up on apple.com?

Sorry but I would say very doubtful just a tiny blip past no.

THANK YOU.... CAN WE STICKY THIS RESPONSE!!!!!

I bet the reason that we have no scans is because each shiptment is required to have it's own tracking # which I bet we wont see based on how they are using ups world ease method even for shiptments to the store

http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/shipping/time/service/value_added/worldease.html

Clears customs as a single unit, reducing documentation and saving time

I bet once our units get unboxed in either anchorage or louisville we will see scans.

One of the points on that link is: "Offers detailed tracking visibility for every package in the shipment".

When they load the shipment in China, each container has a bar code. They scan each box as it goes into the container so they know what's in there. The containers go into a plane that also has a code. When that plane lands in customs, they can apply an updated "scan" to each package on the plane with one "swipe" Each package in the shipment does get updated scans at each step of the journey.

I got the same notice, but what does it really mean? Are they on the move and have they entered the country, or just ready for shipment?

In your case we don't know scan there has not been a scan of the airbill. You are at the first step. Your order could be filled from one of several sources.

im pretty sure it will be in at&t stores tommorow but wont release by friday :)

I think so. Arriving in store late in the day most likely. I mean, since when did you see a UPS truck doing deliveries prior to 7 A.M.? Even more, since when did you see an AT&T store open before 7 A. M.?

weerd tho cuz FlightAware said that the plane landed 1:49 pm local alaska time... and they scanned it at 1:48 pm local alaska time? or do they scan the boxes before they log the landing of the flight? ... i dunno!

They don't scan boxes at all. They know what containers and therefore which packages are on the plane. When the plane lands, they "scan" the plane and apply that update to every package on the plane.
