I went through this Sat. I noticed the authorization for the correct amount was there and my bank reserved the money from my available funds. It is a debit/credit card. So the money showed up back in my account as available. I've been checking every day and the money is still there.
ATT store staff told me Sat. that I would be charged again when it shipped. Well it shipped but the money has not be taken from my account or taken out of my available balance.
I wish they didn't handle the original transaction this way. I read somewhere that Apple sometimes just charges a dollar to see if the credit card is viable, and then reverts it until it ships. Why they charge the whole amount and then had to have it revert is beyond my understanding.
So, I too hope that the reversion of money back into my account does not foul things up. The ATT staff seemed confident it would not. Let us hope they know what they are talking about.
I'm the same way as you two (you and the one you quoted). I had the hold on my account, but only for 2 days at max, then it dropped and has yet to be put back on. My order status says shipped and my tracking number now works on the UPS website, so we'll see. I'm guessing it'll probably go back up tomorrow... but I'd love a free phone!
