[Merged] Waiting to get white iPhone 4 vs. black iPhone now

How long will you wait for the white iPhone 4?

I'm going to see what happens to prices for the Nexus One on ebay next week. I've been wanting to give Android 2.2 a shot and waiting on the white iPhone 4 might be the perfect opportunity to do that.

Not to mention, I already have a perfectly fine 3G that I can upgrade to 4.0.

I don't know if I can wait. But you make a good point that waiting a few weeks is better than living with a black phone you regret getting for 2 years. Then again, I will be using a case on my phone....

Apple has really disappointed me. Usually Apple is a considerate company and would not advertise a white phone in photographs with the bumper cases and in videos if it would not be available on the pre-order day. This really frustrates me and I'm sure a lot of other people. Apple needs to communicate with its customers and let them know when the white phone will be available. If the white phone is set back a week then I will wait. If it's set back until August then forget about it.

I was thinking about ordering a black one to the store instead of to my house so I can possibly switch it out for a white one if they have them by then. Apple needs to make some sort of announcement.
 
I would appreciate if Apple would come out and give us an estimate, at the very least. If it's going to be released by launch, then that's fine. Pre-orders are simply a convenience, and it's not like anyone else is able to get ahead of you in line right now. But to leave people hanging in the breeze like this...no bueno.

I pre-ordered a black one. I really wanted white, but who knows how long it'll be before they're widely available? Plus, I have a white 3G that is in a black Speck Hard Candy case, so does it really matter for me?

I suppose I could pick up my 4 and hold onto it for a few weeks and see if anything develops on the white 4 front, but if not, at least I'll guarantee myself a 4 on launch day.

Thanks mate been pondering this for so many days now and read many reviews. But now with Black being available, you again highlight my concerns. Yeah it may get finger marks on it and yeah in my eyes the white iPhone does draw attention etc, but, Apple always demo the black and also it's the screen that is the most important part i look at not the border....
...so am guna click pre-order on the black one before i change my mind again :O)
 
WTF, now I am seeing rumors that possibly there will be NO white phone available at all, or the problem is due to the issues that Foxconn is having at its factories. Please for the love of it Apple, come out with a press release to address this for everyone. :mad::apple:

I know seriously! Can't they at least address the issue instead of ignoring it! I just want to know when and if I will be able to get a white iPhone so that I can make an informed decision!

This is so frustrating, I am will to wait and be patient, I just want to know that it will pay off!

no that is dumb. what is the point? Might as well wait if you can't live a few days or weeks extra without an iPhone then you have a problem!

Why does this keep coming up? It's such a jerk thing to do. Preorder a black one that someone else will want so you can exchange it for a white one later at a cost. Sure, it's within your rights to do. Still completely unethical. It's a jerk thing to do.

Who cares? If they didn't want people doing that, they should have said upfront white won't be available right away. F Apple.

Yeah, but the point is, you're not pissing off Apple by doing this (well you are, but more importantly), you are pissing off people who really wanted black, and wanted it soon, and you basically took theirs.
 
This particularly annoys me...

i have to buy my way out of my o2 contract to be able to get an iphone, they are only allowing this until July 24th! if the white isnt available before then, i'll have to wait until December to upgrade!
 
I'll be waiting, as will my Mom and partner.

Honestly I'm only a little mad about not getting to order it today, but I am REALLY mad, and REALLY shocked, that Apple is just leaving us all in the dark. The fact they have not said a damn thing about this. Why, when, etc, is just horribly disrespectful. I feel like we were mislead and at the least deserve an explanation.

Oh also,
If you guys wanna complain the best thing to do is call Apple Corporate, at 408-996-1010. Press 0 for the operator and when she answers tell her you have a complaint. She'll escalate you to "customer relations" and you should get a human being pretty quickly who is happy to hear your concern/complaint.

I know because I just called and told them to get their head out of their ass and say something on this situation. Ok well I didn't say exactly that, but I did give them a piece of my mind, nicely. :)
 
I might do so by force. Certainly there seems to be absolutely no way I can pre-order this thing. I got nothing but *can't process* the entire time I've ever tried to pre-order the thing. I think black goes more with more of my stuff, but the white is pretty sexy.

While we all know that CSR's don't really know more than we do, the one I spoke to earlier told me that nobody would have the white models available at launch, and told me the same "later this summer" release date we saw leaked from those internal documents. I tried to press him for a more specific date, but that's all I could get.

Yeah I understand, I just know I was the only white 32gig preorder at my best buy so if :apple: has any that they will be sending out for launch day only then I may be ok..

If not I will return my 3GS when my return period is almost up and be phoneless until the white arrives.

Yeah I'm the 2nd white 32GB at my Best Buy, so I'm hoping they'll at least release them a few days later. FWIW, the "Manager" at BestBuy I ordered from told me that if they in fact do not get any White phones in then I can get a black one as a loaner until the white is available.
