The home button is plastic and dirt/grime can most certainly build up around it. Ever see a dirty white macbook with all those filthy keys?
**** happens it's a damn phone! I have a 3GS I can wait! I am sure Steve Jobs said hey I know a way to piss everybody off! lets not have enough phones and sell them out in a day! Wait lets only have Black! it will be great for our business!![]()
I agree. It's just rude. I don't mind if they don't have an exact date. Just something, even if they say, Hey production issues with the white. Don't expect it till the end of July or august sometime. Thanks for your patience. Most people who say "CHILL, IT'S JUST A PHONE!" don't realize that a lot of us, myself included, SOLD our 3GS on eBay and have switched to a POS non-smartphone in hopes of getting our hands on the iP4. I wanted white. I won't be getting white. And I'm not getting black.
So now I wait...and wait...and wait...with a phone that can barely text message...for how long?
Oh, no one knows. Because Apple won't say.
It's rude and ignorant. Release a statement. YES, it matters, YES it is important.
Even if it's just a phone.
Not the point. Most if not all of us would not be so mad about it if Apple would say something about it. Give us SOME sort of clue or idea when or if we can expect the white version we have seen. They have been taunting us with this color since WWDC, it showed up in more photos than the black version from what I've seen, it's showed to demo the bumper case colors, SJ said it'd be AVAILABLE in TWO colors, etc etc. You know damn well they KNEW something happened with the white (obviously) and so it wouldn't be available for pre-order, BEFORE the online store went live.
To be SO excited, staying up late to get a pre-order in for what I was so excited about, only to see I can't get it, is just annoying. It's rude. Inconsiderate. Unprofessional. Just not good business in my opinion. You don't treat your customers that way if you want them to keep giving you lots of money!
What's kind of strange to me is none of the media sites are really mentioning Apple's silence on white iPhone. Macbreak Weekly didn't even mention it, I don't think. Most sites I've visited mention it in passing. Maybe it is only a small group that really cares.

I dont think thats the case though. If the poll here is a small sampling of the rest of the purchasing population then I'd say A LOT of people want the white one. According to the poll over 55% are either waiting for white for some period of time or flat out refuse to buy until white is available vs 43% who went ahead and bought black.
Thats why I think Apple realized they didnt produce enough for a pre-order.
^ You think that Apple doesn't LOVE this free publicity and that this is possibly the reason they pulled this white iPhone stunt in the first place?!
600,000 preorders crashing AT&T's site and running Apple out of product until July 14th isnt enough?
Do you really think Apple would piss off their loyal customers in order to get a little advertising out on one of the fastest selling products that isnt even out yet?
It's the same question as to when the prototype was released, "Do you think Apple is doing this just to create hype, and we will see an entirely new phone on June 7th?"
Apple is too popular for them to be needing to take risks that piss off their customers like this
