I plan to wait til the end of July so that i can get a hands on. I have decided to get the white, but part of the reason is now the rarity of it. I plan to sell the phone in about 2 years (already plan to skip the next iPhone), and i want the version that can sell better.

I'll wait until I can get a white one. I don't want to... but I will regret getting another black one just so I can be 'first.'

i was so torn on pre order day about what to do....i have a white 3gs 32gb phone and the white on the back does show the few scratches that i have though with the new back this might not be a problem.

i waited and waited and then finally just decided to pre order the black phone this time after holding my friends black 3gs but the thing is i thought i was getting luck later in the evening and was gonna get one for the 24th but it ended up being July 2nd, which actually works out cause i can wait and see if there are white ones at launch (fingers crossed)

i do have a question about that though, does the 30 day return start when i get the phone or when i order it/gets shipped?

**** happens it's a damn phone! I have a 3GS I can wait! I am sure Steve Jobs said hey I know a way to piss everybody off! lets not have enough phones and sell them out in a day! Wait lets only have Black! it will be great for our business! :D

Not the point. Most if not all of us would not be so mad about it if Apple would say something about it. Give us SOME sort of clue or idea when or if we can expect the white version we have seen. They have been taunting us with this color since WWDC, it showed up in more photos than the black version from what I've seen, it's showed to demo the bumper case colors, SJ said it'd be AVAILABLE in TWO colors, etc etc. You know damn well they KNEW something happened with the white (obviously) and so it wouldn't be available for pre-order, BEFORE the online store went live.

To be SO excited, staying up late to get a pre-order in for what I was so excited about, only to see I can't get it, is just annoying. It's rude. Inconsiderate. Unprofessional. Just not good business in my opinion. You don't treat your customers that way if you want them to keep giving you lots of money!

Most people who say "CHILL, IT'S JUST A PHONE!" don't realize that a lot of us, myself included, SOLD our 3GS on eBay and have switched to a POS non-smartphone in hopes of getting our hands on the iP4. I wanted white. I won't be getting white. And I'm not getting black.

So now I wait...and wait...and wait...with a phone that can barely text message...for how long?

Oh, no one knows. Because Apple won't say.

It's rude and ignorant. Release a statement. YES, it matters, YES it is important.

Even if it's just a phone.

I agree. It's just rude. I don't mind if they don't have an exact date. Just something, even if they say, Hey production issues with the white. Don't expect it till the end of July or august sometime. Thanks for your patience.

But nooo.

That's not the point for you! I'm just not freaking out about it. I excited to get my hands on a 4. However at the end of the day it's a phone I can wait longer. bummed yes freaking no I rather have what I want even if it takes longer. it's just not the end of my world.

What's kind of strange to me is none of the media sites are really mentioning Apple's silence on white iPhone. Macbreak Weekly didn't even mention it, I don't think. Most sites I've visited mention it in passing. Maybe it is only a small group that really cares.

VERY sad, but seems to be true.

I too listended to MacBreak this week and I had hoped for them to give Apple SOME hell for it, lol. Instead Alex casually said something to the effect of "so I went to the site to make my order and the white was already gone... I made my order..." and he just goes on talking. I think he doesn't realize it was NEVER AVAILABLE! :p

Thats the most dam*ing part if you ask me. They knew there would be thousands of people staying up late, putting their life on hold, selling their phone, expecting the white iPhone for pre-order and then they don't say a word, don't allow pre-orders, and still haven't a word.

Part of me thinks that they will have them for sale on launch day because a company would have to be REALLY stupid to have a huge delay in an expected product and not utter a word.

I dont think thats the case though. If the poll here is a small sampling of the rest of the purchasing population then I'd say A LOT of people want the white one. According to the poll over 55% are either waiting for white for some period of time or flat out refuse to buy until white is available vs 43% who went ahead and bought black.

Thats why I think Apple realized they didnt produce enough for a pre-order.

^ This exactly.

I dunno. Local newspaper to Apple even picked it up:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/artic...ys-its-coming-as-quickly-as-we-can-2010-6.DTL

They can only speculate as well, since the rep they talked to didn't know anything. But news outlets definitely know about the lack of a White iPhone 4.

BL.

I am also very disappointed in Apple's silence, and like others have said, it would have been fine by me to wait a bit longer, HAD something been announced prior, OR even the day of. But no, Apple feels this growing need to become more and more quiet about products as time goes on. It's complete BS, in my opinion.

I will be waiting for the white though, no matter how long it takes. I sold my black 3GS on eBay about three weeks back, it was cosmetically damaged and such, but still got $350 for it. So two nights ago I found a white 3GS on eBay and landed it for $365! I'll just resell it after getting the 4 in white...

I pre-ordered black, even though I REALLY wanted white.

I have a few friends that are gonna be new iPhone adopters, I'll just throw them $20, have them get white and then trade.

that simple

^ You think that Apple doesn't LOVE this free publicity and that this is possibly the reason they pulled this white iPhone stunt in the first place?!

600,000 preorders crashing AT&T's site and running Apple out of product until July 14th isnt enough?

Do you really think Apple would piss off their loyal customers in order to get a little advertising out on one of the fastest selling products that isnt even out yet?

It's the same question as to when the prototype was released, "Do you think Apple is doing this just to create hype, and we will see an entirely new phone on June 7th?"

Apple is too popular for them to be needing to take risks that piss off their customers like this
