Well...

If I had narrowed down my choice of cars to an Audi A4 and a BMW 3-series:

Audi A4 is my first choice but dealer only has black (no way - too hard to keep clean) and has no idea when they'll get a silver one in (my first & only color choice).

BMW dealer has several silver ones on the lot today.

How long would I be willing to wait around for Audi when they can't give me an ETA before I just head over to BMW?

I see your point, but I could see someone switching phones over something like color if their other choice was a close second to begin with. Just a thought.

No, that's a great point. But I feel that when you're on an Apple website, complaining how you can't order the phone for launch day, there really isn't a "close second" and buying a different phone either to spite Apple or out of frustration over a color is really just screwing yourself in the end.

Agreed. That's why I'm personally waiting around myself. I hate how greasy & smudged the black iPhones typically look, but I'm certainly not going to step down to an inferior model as a result. In the end, even if they canceled white altogether (hypothetically), I'd still pick up a black one myself LONG before switching to some other model phone.

It doesn't bother me that I'll have to wait, and it wouldn't bother me if Apple canceled the White iPhone all together (well...maybe a bit). But what does bother me is that Apple hasn't said a damn thing about it! Tell us if/when the White iPhone is coming, that way I can make a decision. Not knowing is the most frustrating part about it!

I feel like I've been screwed a bit. I sent for my gazelle box for my 3GS because their offer was almost $300 but I did it the day before pre-orders. The gazelle offer is only good for 30 days. The current offer is at or below $200. So now the white delay has cost me $100 or more...or basically kept me from getting anything since I can't even get a black model within 30 days.

Awesome. Guess Ill be getting iPhone 5.

Sorry guys...black is for males and white is for females. Unless your homosexual or a Stormtrooper of course.

I would love to get a white one, but am wondering how dirty the phone will get over time. I especially wonder what the "button" will look like after having been pressed a gazillion times. I just imagine this dark ring forming on the inside of the button from dirt and oil. We all have black phones faces and do not see anything like that now. I really wonder what it will look like over time.

I'm a little worried about that as well. But I'm thinking it'll be ok if cleaned regularly. A little iKlear (or similar) on a Q-tip once a week should do the trick!

It will be fine, because in a little over a year you'll get iPhone 5 ;)

Well that's the problem with the black!
You don't see it so you don't clean it thus creating a germ magnet.
If you have the white and can see it (if this is even so) you are more likely to clean it and be germ freeeeee! :D

black hides the cameras therefore is sleeker. White draws attention to the cameras and breaks up the whole design in my opinion. my $.02

Well yea thats why I said I wouldn't switch to another carrier to get another phone just because I cant get a white iPhone but I will stay put on Verizon and wait. I know the color doesn't make the experience better from a functionality standpoint but from an overall experience, yes. I like the look of the white one and that is the color that I want. If I get the black one just to get one, Ill always feel like I settled and didn't get what I truly wanted, therefore the overall experience is diminished. I dunno just the way I feel.

If there are no WHITE iPhone 4's at launch i'll.....

Its not an issue because its glass.

Your comment wasn't in regards to my post, but here's an analogy...

If I had hypothetically narrowed down my choice of cars to an Audi A4 and a BMW 3-series:

Haha... considering that [in my opinion] there is no other phone on the market that comes close, I would say that's more like giving up on the silver Audi and going to buy a Kia. ;)

I'll also give Best Buy the WTF because they -still- keep telling me I'll have a white.

If there are no white iPhones, all you will do is whine and come back another day to give them your money.

Ok so I totally changed my mind, I am going to get black now. I had thought about it getting dirty before, but like others have said, I didn't think it would be a problem because it is glass.

But I always have a skin on my phone (Wrapsol, ZAGG, BSE, etc..) and ANY dirt (even a little bit) that gathers on the edges of this would show so much on the white. So there would be little black/dirty lines surrounding the ear piece and home button all the time, because it is hard to get it all completely off.

So I think that I have decided to just get the black phone because it will look nicer and show the skins less. I still like the look of the white better, but I wouldn't with little dirty lines all over it. Dang, I wish i would have decided this earlier haha so I wouldn't have to wait until they are back in stock, oh well. :)
