iPod touch [Merged] What to expect from third generation of iPod touch?

Wait for the 3rd Gen. its not that far away, and it will be totally worth it. Your nano will suit you fine till then
 
Since Apple's going down the aluminum path, they might as well make the 3rd gen touch have an aluminum backing like the 1st gen iPhone. No visible scratches and it would look more high quality. I don't think there's much to add to the touch; the 3.0 software update will make it much better. I guess they could put in a 3G chip since everybody's complaining about WiFi not being everywhere but then again, people would complain about the monthly charges.
 
What I want from the 3rd Gen I-Touch

If all of these features could be added to the new I-Touch, it would be a miracle:

Camera
GPS
Loud/High Quality Built in speaker
SD/Micro SD card slot
Javascript animations/games on webpages
Better games and apps
64+ Gigabytes Capacity
Ability to open .jar mobile apps
Bluetooth
Better Wifi reception

It'd be great if the new I-touch 3rd gen had at least some of those features.
 
These are my Top 5 wishes for the 3rd Gen iPod Touch

1. Camera
2. Bluetooth
3. GPS
4. Better battery life
5. >32GB Storage

Anyone think that a new iPod Touch and iPhone will be released at WWDC? Or at least announced?

Don't see those three ever happening; bluetooth is already in the 2nd gen iPod touch and the 3.0 update will unlock the chip so accessories or apps can take advantage of it.

The new iPhone will be but most likely we have to wait for September for the traditional iPod refresh.
 
My wish list goes as follows, because I am really in it for watching movies and a bit of gaming this is a wishlist for me:

Larger screen
Higher resolution
64 gigs
Scratch resistant back- hate the ipod backs...you have no idea.
Holographic Projection!?!?- damn right lol. More like ipod touch 10.5


thats about it. Some people want the ipod touch to get smaller but im all in favor of gettting a bigger one. Not necessarily a 7 inch screen like ive been hearing rumors about. Take the Ipod touch's size itself and that would be a great size for the screen. Im not really one for a camera but it doesn't bother me if they throw one in.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot that I hate when you either watch a movie in widescreen that its small but when you put it to full screen that the sides get chopped off. I wish for that to change.

I Would expect a camera, 64 GB, mic.(possibly, and more, but likely the Camera will be a accessory to work with all iPod Touch Models. OR at least some! I am waiting to buy a iPod Touch when it upgrades :)
 
Yes, yes, thank you everyone for saying that you want/don't want a camera and a gps. Been fun reading all nine hundred posts. If you want a camera, go buy one. If you need a gps, go outside more often. I think it would be awesome if apple introduced something amazing that no one has thought of yet, and blew all of us out of the water.....and better battery life. :)
 
speculation of a possible camera in next iPod....personally I wouldn't want a camera as I would really have no need for it since it is an iPod but thats my opinion.

Several Cameras are getting or already have MP3 playback. Most GPS devices already have it. Most Phones already have it. The outcome of this is inevitable. At some point in time we'll just buy a screen. It may be a 5" diagonal 1/8" thick AMOLED screen or a 1" OLED, or any size between. some will have view screens on both sides. They'll all be touch sensitive, although some will have the sensing on the back or around the frame/edge. Camera/video recording requires a lens, so they'll all have a lens. It might be embedded or a choice of add-ons that clip to the body somehow. Buy a cheap pinhole lens or a big crystal one. Upgrade later. They'll also be an antenna array that will do GPS, FM, Bluetooth, WiFi, Cell phone, or anything else using RF. You'll buy the screen, and download whatever apps you really want to use it for.

Or maybe not. :D
 
I would like to customize my icons and stuff

Also I would like to see better graphics,processor,etc for better gaming

Better battery life

Like I said before I would like the screen to cover the entire front

The ability to surf the web on a larger screen by plugging it in.

edit: oh I know this is not going to happen for 3rd but eventually I would like to see a fold screen. Where the touch is the same form factor but then can fold out to a larger screen.
 
Screw the camera altogether. I think all that needs to be changed is getting more memory, faster processing, and longer battery life.
 
Keep the camera, but I'd be pretty jazzed about GPS and downloadable maps. The magnetometer (digital compass) would be cool as well.

I've thought about that too. I think that's entirely possible. Companies could even put out an external keyboard attachment along with a GPS or camera.

We've heard the biggest news about the iPhone and iPod Touch already this year. The new hardware is pretty much irrelevant. The 3.0 firmware is going to make the iPhone and iPod Touch infinitely better.
 
I think the touch is going to have dual cameras and a magnetometer to compete with the dsi and the new psp.
 
With rumors of AMOLED screen, camera, FM radio, and more floating around, I go back into my safe place to await the sadder reality that will be the new Touch.

All I want is it to be lighter, thinner, stronger, and with a holographic projector. That's not too much to ask, is it?

I'd be happy to have it be slightly thicker to be able to have GPS.
 
Ah, nevermind, I read that most people think it will take till september for a new iPod Touch, I do wonder if its wise to buy it right after it comes out though, it seems many Apple Products, if there was a big jump in hardware specs, have problems when newly released, that are only fixed some months later.

Like the MacBook with the 8600 graphics card.
