What do you recommend me ... I want to buy an iPod touch, but the 3rd geen will be released soon (September, according to many poeple here).
Is this worth trouble to wait until September for the 3rd gen or the 2nd gen is almost the same thing as the 3rd ?
I'm a French so ..Sorry if you do not understand me 😛
I got my 2G iPod touch four days ago now, and I'm absolutely loving the upgrade. My wife is also happy because he has been given my 1G model, a result of which has seen her become addicted to the App Store.
Anyway, September is some three months way, considering that we've got all of June to work our way through (June, July, August). I didn't need to pay for my 2G because my family chipped in with Apple Store gift cards for my 30th last week, which covered the cost of the 8GB model.
Aside from the volume rocker switch and the internal speaker, I love the new look which to the untrained eye looks 99% identical to the iPhone due to the chrome bezel around the screen.
Sitting the 2G beside the 1G the 1G looks a little ... bland, and you can tell it was a prototype for the Multi-Touch-Interface iPod device, with the 2G refining the design further.
As for the 3G (third generation, not 3G as in internet), I don't see any major changes to the design other than perhaps a larger capacity and maybe a camera. Some have said Apple could go for the brushed Aluminum, along the lines of the first iPhone, for the rear of the next iPod touch, but I cannot see Apple moving away from the traditional "scratchy chrome" backing which has become synonymous with the iPod brand.
As someone has said in another thread regarding the iPod touch, when it comes to any product you want, if you continually wait for the next model you'll never buy and own anything. Yes, it's nice to have the latest and greatest device, but right now I'll enjoy owning the latest and greatest iPod touch, even if it's only that for three months.
After that, who knows? I used my 1G happily for 9 months after the 2G launched and provided my 2G doesn't make the leap for freedom from my suit jacket pocket (a trick my 1G mastered), I don't see me upgrading anytime soon .... especially for a camera.
