This seems so cringe.
It’s not that much different to the 2nd gen model. They’ve not moved the operating system forward and it still looks like a heavy but cheap plastic headset. It’s a hard pass for me.
The headset's main benefit is mixed reality passthrough, as it features color passthrough just like Quest Pro. Outside of that we don't really know what software benefits there is to using this over a Quest 2.
Otherwise...yeah there's not much reason to get this over a Quest 2. I'm a big VR guy and I ain't getting this since I already got a Quest 2, and I primarily use it just for PCVR.
I think Meta should do a buyback program to allow users to trade in their Quest 2s to upgrade to Quest 3, otherwise I don't see this headset selling many units at it's $500 price tag when the much cheaper Quest 2 is still around.
Honestly Quest 3 is just making me even more excited to see the Apple Reality in action, to see Apple show Meta how it's done.
