Why all the hate for Mark Zuckerberg and Meta?

They give me cookies for free, and I don't even use Facebook, or Instagram!

And if I happen to delete their cookies by accident, the very next day they're back without me doing anything!

Mark's spirit of sharing is so remarkable. I'm confident that I can attach myself to his virtual world with no problem whatsoever.

😬

I’m super intrigued about the future of AR/VR (mostly AR) and all the things it could bring. I think there’s a lot of potential for good (I’m sure potential for bad too, but that comes down to the user). I’m not a fan of Meta’s business model, so I’ll be waiting to at least see Apple’s offering, but I’m glad to see Apple has some competition. And even though I don’t want this, I have to say they did a pretty good job with the aesthetic design. It looks cool.

I wish I could fake just a little bit of interest in this to be honest. At the price point it is I’m guessing they aren’t aiming this at the mass market anyway. Good luck Apple with your attempt at an overpriced version too.

This product is aimed at a customer base of one: making the Zuckwit believe the billions he's burning on the metaverse whackery is actually accomplishing something.

Not trolling and I have the Quest 2 which is a wonderful device, maybe it will indeed find a foot in a professional setting, there are after all headsets costing upwards of 5k out there, right now for me, VR is a games console and a porn viewer, excited for the Iron Man port.

I do strongly believe whatever Apple releases will make these look like toys.

I like that a company with lots of cash to burn is turning up the heat on Apple. It'll improve what Apple does and how they compete. I am very interested in this category of devices, but giving Facebook $1500 is close to the bottom of a list of things I will ever volunteer to do in my lifetime.

no thanks, standard reality is enough for me

I'd rather use PSVR2 by Sony.
All same features and many more, and specifically immersive and targeted at gaming NOT living in some dumb virtual world that even Sony has tried years ago and seen it's a dead end.

What is with Zuckerberg forcing staff to jump on board for this Lawnmower Man type of world?? It was cool in late 80's/early early 90's but in 2022 SMH.

No thank you! Not trustworthy!

I will wait for Apple. I respect my privacy.

Agreed.

Especially with 'skin detection'! We all know how poorly AI has been trained due to the collective minimum coders the past decade or more coding AI and vision. Seen first with 'my XBox camera is racist' - google that for XBox 360 games it's kinda funny but should open a few eyes. I cannot recall the name of the focused show on AI training models etc that can really affect which groups of people are 'inclusive' and those that are not for positive things in life, vs the reverse for negative things in life - huge impact here!!

now skin detection?! Nah fam not gonna have my skin sampled into some virtual world. For me its blood-in, blood-out only.

Haven't even seen him on the news lately. Too busy spying, collecting data, and invading the privacy of people.
Let's be honest.

Zuck has no real world value for any news or anything by himself. If nothing about FB/Meta is mentioned then there is nothing really to talk, look, see or take to court about, honestly. nothing negative but that's his ebodiment of his world, and most entrepreneurs of big business usually start out this way.

I could see these being big for porn. Maybe virtual exercise landscapes. But maybe I’m not that imaginative. Maybe online shopping. You could try on glasses before buying. Zuckerberg thinks this is a revolution which makes me dubious. Big tech billionaires rarely predict what’s next with the exception of Steve.
