Quoted for truth. I won't believe for a second that he's not guilty. We've seen it time and time again...LA juries won't convict celebrities. Phil Spector was the rare exception, and even then it took a few tries. I firmly believe that OJ is guilty, Robert Blake is guilty, and Michael Jackson is guilty. Even if he's not, he's admitted to having sleepovers with little kids. Even if he never touched one inappropriately, it's still sick and disgusting.

Unless his will is in perfect order, this can drag on for a couple years like the Anna Nicole Smith saga and the media will be there to make sure we get every detail of it

Well he's gone to meet his maker. I wonder if god is judging him harshly as we speak...

Seriously you guys... we get the point, you don't like the guy. There are plenty more that do, why don't you just be respectful whether or not you think he deserves it and leave the negative comments out of the thread? You've made your point over and over what you think about him. Go create another thread talking about why you hate him.

His music is a lot better than a lot of the crap we have out right now like Boom Boom Pow and Birthday Sex??!

It makes me embarrassed to be part of the generation that listens to that stuff. I wasn't a huge fan of Michael either, but I don't think anyone can argue his stuff is/will be pretty timeless.

I took my Mom to see him in concert in 1984. It was good. He was still black and wasn't playing with kids back then.

He's dead now. Always in threes. Ed, Farrah & now Michael. I had Ed & Farrah - they were gimme's. Anyone take Michael in the death pool? I've also got Lindsey as an underdog.

I almost played Beat It today on my show, too. I had it singled out, and unwittingly decided not to. Funny since I hardly ever play MJ... global consciousness or something is weird.

Tomorrow, I'll have to do something in memorium.

I dont know what genre ur station plays but I'll be there is a timeless song

He was an American Icon. It hits hard when I think about my childhood. He was special. He revolutionized the music business however you might put it.

How many people remember the doctor's name who found the cure to smallpox, which killed over 300 million, or leprosy, or many other diseases? Now how many remember who sang "Jailhouse Rock" or "Like A Virgin" or "The Twist" or "Hey Jude"? The fact is, a famous singer is more likely to be remembered much longer than a doctor or engineer or many other professions. Perspective IS a bitch! It just depends on whose perspective!

Jonas Salk IIRC without a Google....

Tomorrow I am heading down to Tokyo for business.

Afterwards, I will drop by the Sony building. I am curious to see if they have anything special on display regarding MJ.

When he visited their building a few years ago, it was, well simply put, pandemonium. The Japanese were big fans of his.

Was listening to man in the mirror earlier. One of my favorite songs of all time. It's sad that the majority of his latter music was so derivative and cliched. In the end his music almost became a parody of himself.

No doubt Sony and his estate will quickly be packaging together another final best of, and maybe we will now finally see a release to some of those rumored tracks he had been recording...

Give me points for at least trying without cheating :) LOL

You definitely get points for that! :) My point was that, regardless of how people may view his personal life/choices/demons/mistakes/problems, Michael will be remembered for many decades or longer for his contribution to music. Whether some liked or didn't like his style of music, his influence and impact on the industry is undeniable. There's no doubt the man was immensely talented!

Wow, just heard the news at the breakfast table...

I didn't like his work after Thriller, but at least I got to see him live once: 1988 in front of the Reichstag in Berlin. **** I am getting old! :D

In 1997 I was so lucky to be one of the few musicians who had a workshop with his band the day before his concert in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. It was impressive to see Jennifer Batten play the solo from Beat It only a few meters away from me and to have small talk with the guys afterwards... :)

@WinterMute:
I know where you are getting from, but I think you are downplaying his influence a little bit too much. Some people could take that as envy... You are pointing out a little bit too forced that he is actually just a pointless epsiode in music history. If you really wouldn't care about him, you wouldn't be so busy by telling the world that you don't.
I also never got rich or famous with my music and today, with the life experience I have, I am happy that it actually never happened. The life of a star is nothing one has to be jealous of. The price for all the fame and money is too high... as we could see today. I hope I'll get a litte bit older than just 50...
BTW, I was never a big fan of The Beatles either. My father-in-law will never forgive me that... :p

Sorry to say I"m not too surprised at his passing.

He's just one of those celebrities I honestly never expected to grow old. (Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, Andy Dick, etc.)

Like I told my friend,

His good music will live on, but the child molester has died.
